DRUM CAM: Simon Schilling of Belphegor - “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus” and “Bleeding Salvation” Live

- Go behind the kit with Simon Schilling of Belphegor as he performs “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus” and “Bleeding Salvation”. These are the first two songs played in the set from Belphegor’s headlining tour, the “North American Totenritual Crusade” during November/December of 2017. Joining us on the tour was Cryptopsy as direct support as well as last minute support from Panzerfaust after Hate was unfortunately unable to make it to the United States for this amazing tour.
Simon has since been replaced by a new drummer who goes by the name of “Ravager”. There were never any major details revealed on why they decided to part ways but I was very disappointed to see the split after touring with Belphegor. Simon was a genuinely nice guy who was also one of the youngest of the entire tour package, which he took a lot of pride in.

Due to different reasons I decided to leave Belphegor.
I am looking forward to perform and work with new bands.

LOVE drum cam footage!!!! I think even as Metalheads we sometimes take our drummers for granted. It's not an easy instrument to be exceptionally creative with, but it takes massive talent and a high dedication to be a proficient extreme Metal drummer. I love these videos because it reminds me what an amazing talent these people are. Always in the back, holding it down. Those crazy riffs and insane vocals just wouldn't have the drive without our skin beaters.
I'm an extreme metal drummer myself. I played in some bands and everywhere I went I got the feeling that good (metal) drummers get instant respect from other musicians, because of devotion and because when you do extreme metal practicing on drums it just feels like a complete workout
@Kevin Bergquist I am drummer as well and I cant agree with you. Yes, jazz is technically more difficult and you need special talent and feeling for it, but you need special talent and feeling for extreme metal too. They need to play very fast and hard for long time. I am afraid that jazz drummers cant do this because you need training it if you want to play like this, hard and fast for long time.

I was worried when Marthyn left but Simon kills it. His live sound is great, he doesn't power slam rim shots on the snare so when he blasts you can actually hear it. Probably the cleanest ride/bell runs I've heard too

Very interesting the fact that he is swiveling not in sync with the notes he is playing (usually the right left motion follows the notes). Actually, seems that he's moving his left foot to the right every three notes.

I really don't. He put out a statement on Facebook but neither him or the band elaborated on it. He just said "due to different reasons....", which leaves things very vague. Still hoping to work with the band again when they return to the US.
@@TakeMeOnTour I don't think they've ever had a solid drummer. It's kind of annoying how they get rid of drummers so much and it's also annoying how they can constantly find good drummers as well lol.

I honestly don't know where it's from. Haha. I've looked for it and can't seem to find it. I believe I asked their tech when we were on tour but can't remember what his answer was. They seem to play it a lot though.

He actually has a pair of shoes that he uses only for playing drums. He walks on stage wearing one pair, sits down at the drumset, switches shoes and then plays the show. He then changes back to his original pair again before he leaves the stage. I didn't even believe him when he first told me!! Hahaha.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that I didn't have a better recording for this. It was never intended to be uploaded to UA-cam but then I got the idea for this channel. I was always just so impressed with his drumming on the tour that I wanted to have some video for myself. Maybe in the future I can get a better quality one. Thanks for watching!

Actually many BM drummers do this and personally I think it looks good too :D maybe the sticks are faster to grab than from a regular holder

It's definitely not pro recorded. I never intended on uploading this. It was just for me to have as I really enjoyed watching him play. This is often what things sound like from the stage perspective as all of the sound is pointed towards the audience.

Thanks for the feedback and for checking out the video. Now that I decided to start this page, I definitely plan on trying to capture better audio. It definitely came to mind as I was editing this. I noticed it's very hard to hear the bass drum and the cymbals overpower everything.
