  • I was fortunate to have had a DREAM morning of sunrise photography at this ABSOLUTELY STUNNING location!!
    Ask landscape photographers what they'd wish for, and I think most will tell you that they'd love beautiful locations and perfect conditions, please! The reality is that it's not often that we get both.
    Luck was on my side on this partiuclar morning, and I bagged myself some great photos, including some of my biggest (129MB) and best panoramas ever. You need to see this place with me!

      Thanks a bunch Pia! 🙏🙏 Let's go find you some giant walls and hopefully we can pick a pano to suit 😅 Yes, my cameraman has come a long way and did a stellar job with his smooth, gimbal-like shots! Couldn't have made this video and many others without him 😁👍

      Hi Brett, by the time I made it to Lake Tekapo, I was down to my mid range and a kit lens! No luck getting step up rings - camera stores didn't know what they were! Ah, I just had to make do... Next trip, I'm bringing everything and the kitchen sink 😆 Thanks Brett, and hope you enjoy the rest of your week 🙏🙏

    Wow what a place that is Valerie. Lots of photographic opportunities that's for sure - even accidental ones! I did that a church there would be unnecessary too - why be inside when you can see the best creative work outside! I'd be sitting by a window and looking out. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place.

      Hi Denise, yes lots of photo opportunities there for sure! Definitely needs revisiting. It must be a church with one of the best views ever 😀 But agree, I'd much rather be outside too! Hope you have a good week ahead 👍

    Very noice! I actually liked the mirror reflection in the water without the polariser. Great shot of the Church of the Good Sheperd, without scores of tourists 🙂 When I was there the 1st day the sleet was blowing sideways, which made for an interesting adventure in itself 😅 I think panos are the way to go in many instances, you can always crop and downsize, and the distant mountains don't shrink as with a wide angle lens. In future you may go through the hundreds of shots taken on this trip, and discover ones you've completely forgotten about, thereby reliving the adventure👌Haha, maybe a redeemed Mt Doom..

    • @ValerieMisaPhotography
      @ValerieMisaPhotography  Рік тому +1

      Hi Pieter, I think I liked not having the polariser too. It was great to have virtually the whole place to myself that morning. Too early for most tourists 😆 - a reason why I prefer sunrises to sunsets! I'm glad it brought back memories for you. 👍 I think you're so right - trawling back over photos initially skipped would bring back some of the excitement and fond memories for sure! Always great to read your comments - thank you 🙏🙏

    Welcome to god zone ! yes you are on track eg Mount Dobson and to left of it is Mount Dobson Ski Field, pity about the low cloud as we have been having some mega weather here between showers ! spring time ! they have had quite a bit of snow only a few weeks back that would have been spectacular, but the South is always a photographer's' paradise. Enjoy your trip around the South Island, are you coming to the North Island ? Cheers from the North, Whanganui

    • @ValerieMisaPhotography

      Thanks Royce for the warm welcome to the god zone 😅 Great to know I was on track with Mt Dobson. One thing I noticed is that the are dramatic clouds galore! But they clear so fast. Some formations were just spectacular. I would love to explore the North - would love to hear any special recommendations from a local like yourself 😊 Thanks for your comments 🙏👍

      Thanks heaps Izz, appreciate your comments and support! 🙏🙏 I think my ball head is cursed - it didn't like securing my camera in place and resulted in my camera falling out and 2 of my lenses being damaged, 2 days in a row! By the time I got to Lake Tekapo, I was down to my kit lens and my mid range. Oh the trials and tribulations 😆 But I adapted and got through...phew! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week 😊

    Your epic adventure continues! What a spectacular location. The pano with the rocks in the foreground does have beautiful color and adds nice texture. I think I might have cropped them out a bit more to focus on the mountains in the background more, but I am watching on my iphone. I would love to have seen what you could have captured with a long lens, but the panos were epic. I also would love to see more drone shots of you doing your thing in that amazing location.

    • @ValerieMisaPhotography
      @ValerieMisaPhotography  Рік тому

      Hi Shaun, yes, it continues! I think I will crop them a bit more, but am mindful that they do create depth and perspective in the image, which I think helps to give more prominence to the mountains. You're right, I wish I'd tested the long lens a bit more - a great excuse to go back! Unfortunately no drones are allowed in that area...and most of NZ actually. A shame, but I understand their reasons completely. Always great to hear your thoughts 🙏🙏 Enjoy the rest of your week and looking forward to seeing your next vid!

    Great video but i think you need to work on your post processing skills to really bring that beautiful Fuji camera colors. Or your Monitor needs to be Calibrated because colors of your few images gives me LSD effect just looked at it 🙌📸✨

    • @ValerieMisaPhotography
      @ValerieMisaPhotography  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your comments 🙏 My post processing skills always need work - it's a continual learning process! I'm not sure I know what you mean by the LSD effect - are you referring to the purple and blue hues? If so, those were all natural and I didn't touch them in post. But maybe I could have warmed up the WB a tad to reduce the intensity. I guess a part of me wanted to stay true to the colours and feel of that morning. It's all trial and error and personal taste I suppose. Did you view the images on your desktop? I have a Dell Ultrasharp 4k PremierColor monitor with built in calibrator - so it's definitely calibrated.

    • @KGi4
      @KGi4 Рік тому

      @@ValerieMisaPhotography Dell build in calibrator is not the same as external Monitor calibrator. Give a try. You will see the difference. I had dell XPS latop and it had with extra booster contrast and more blueish Color tint. So be aware. Check on different monitors before posting, or get your Monitor Calibrated ✌️ but keep it up with good work 🙌

    • @ValerieMisaPhotography
      @ValerieMisaPhotography  Рік тому +1

      I also have a DataColor SpyderXPro calibrator and haven't found that to produce a different result from my Dell. Anyhow, appreciate your editing pointers and I guess it's what this photography community is about - learning and sharing thoughts about what works and doesn't work. Keep learning, sharing and evolving 👍
