I tuned out after Shane/Taker, skipping the last hour. As a result, I have a much, much higher opinion of the show. It's amazing what a seventh hour with a momentum killing segment and a craptacular main event can do to ruin an entire evening.
That promo ushered a new era and we didn’t even know. This was when NXT wrestlers became big stars. Every week you didn’t know who was going to show up or who was going to return. The brand split also happened months after. Smack down became the A show. Women’s wrestling set a standard and u saw a variety of wrestling. Everything felt new and exciting
It's amazing how much is being suspended above ring. The Jumbotron alone is a marvel on any other day, but to also have WWE's entire lighting rig and truss structure, and a Hell in a Cell thrown in for good measure, I'd be a little hesitant to make a run in!
Imagine if crowds can come back and covid has gone by this years Wrestlemania and imagine that being the first show fully crowded. - Imagine it will be emotional, Not just the fans but the super stars too!
At the end of the day..... there is NOTHING like pro wrestling / sports entertainment when it's done well and performed with genuine passion. Glad I stumbled on this incredibly weird fascinating and strange form of entertainment in my life time. The older I get, I get more perspective and I honestly realize that pro wrestling is one of the very few things as sad as it might seem, to actually make me feel genuine child like joy and excitement, when it's real good. God damn it's weird how something as fundamentally silly as fully grown people pretending to fight and acting out these made up storylines and fictitious battles can really bring out so much joy, fun and appreciation even from intelligent, well read, informed and thoughtful grown people.
