    For me the biggest game changer, apart from controllers, was a three monitor set up for the sim, extra ones on each side and as you suggested, another small monitor for plans, maps etc. The fourth monitor I run with an old usb external graphics card to limit system impact. This, along with a simple head tracker, I found preferable to a full vr setup. Thanks for the videos Mark always interesting content.

    I have a turtlebeach flight yoke and have been pretty happy with it. I keep threatening to upgrade but seem to always put it off with other expenses. It is really nice to have the rudder triggers which keeps me from buying pedals.

      Definitely get rudder pedals next if you're going to upgrade anything, it's a huge difference maker.

      I love my Turtlebeach yoke, so many programable buttons (the most of any yoke/quad setup I believe), trim wheel, x4 throttle quad AND Vernier controls! However, I am getting the Airbus TCA Captain Pack X because I spend most of my sim time flying Airbuses, but I will not be selling on my Turtlebeach as she's so versatile and perfect for GA flying. So I guess I'll be getting a larger desk because as the video says, if you start putting it away in storage it rarely comes out again.

    Terrific video, many thanks. Just getting back into Flightsim with 2024 and currently using the Thrustmaster Hotas One which is great for me right now. I'll be looking to make some upgrades though over the next 12 months so this video is perfect for that. Rudder pedals was not something I was really thinking about as a necessity but your comments on those have got me thinking again 🤔
    Clearly I have lots of research to do over the coming months.

      Yep it was a bigger difference maker than I expected.

    I started flying with the release of msfs24. I picked up the thrustmaster t flight hotas one, the MSFS 24 edition for $140 Canadian. I figured I would give it a year before deciding if I want higher quality gear. Also using my Logitech pro pedals for the rudders, and that works amazing.

      Peripherals definitely cost a bit more for us in Canada, especially the high end stuff ends up being so expensive with the exchange rate! The TPR pedals I mentioned are almost $900 right now, which is insane!

    Thanks for information presented. My setup besides the two 32" 4K monitors, I have the same rudder pedals Thrustmaster and the cheap CH USB yoke (around ten years old) modifed with Hall Effecct instead pots and no throttles and the Airbus throttle configured for either GA piston or GA turbo prop like the TBM. Nothing fancy but works great for my flights.

      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому +2

      The best setup is the one that works for you. 32” 4k monitors sounds amazing!

    Disagree on the throttle recommendation.
    VKB STECS gets the detents system right. For anything. Including Airbus airliners. The only thing it lacks is a third lever to adjust the propeller, on high performance GA aircraft, but I map that to another free axis.
    Much better hardware than the throttles suggested here.

      I tried my best to not recommend any hardware in the video, instead I'm trying to point out the pros and cons to consider, since everyone has different priorities.

    hello, loved the video, currently using the logitec x56 hotas and having great time, my next upgrade will be rudder paddle for sure. i have a question about the grip tape you are using because my stick lost the upper paint layer and now is sticky for some reason. thanks

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому +3

      It’s tennis grip tape, and what’s great about it is that if you don’t like it, you can easily remove it because there’s no adhesive, it’s just held on by tension.

    What Airbus throttle levers are those mounted to the Honeycomb Bravo?

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому

      It’s Boeing throttles actually. I’ve gotten some from prodesksim, some from flight sim factory, and I’ve also recently discovered blackbird controls that seem to be higher quality than the others, but I haven’t purchased them yet, just what I heard from others. I’d say flightsimfactory and prodesksim are similar quality level based on the ones I’ve purchased.

    Hi Mark, is the TCA captain pack, good enough for general aviation? I think I might be more interest en GA rather than comercial flights. Also, I'd get it for Xbox, so I'm more limited.

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому

      Hmmmm, for GA on Xbox it might be worth looking into the VelocityOne FlightStick as well.
      If you’re only going to be using it for GA, then yes, it could work, but if you do end up doing airliners, then going back and forth between the two is a pain.

    Hi mark great videos
    I’m about to reinstall Microsoft 2024. Am I right in thinking that my keyboard and sidestick settings will be saved on the cloud so that when I reinstall Microsoft 2024 they will still be there.

    • @FlightSimSchool
      @FlightSimSchool  Місяць тому +1

      That’s correct, I’ve seen a lot of people say that they reinstalled and all their settings were retained.

    What is the yoke that you are using in the video? It does not seem to have the dreaded centre dead zone...
