When my son was there in the Marines and in Iraq afterwards, would have been the mid-2000's, there were some interpreters they tried to get to come to the US to live but I don't know if it was the military or the State Department but they couldn't get them set up to come over. They were very disappointed. They had one Iraqi guy, and of course you aren't supposed to do this, but he found a shotgun and would actually fight alongside my son't unit. He was so pro-American they tried really hard to get him a clearance but they couldn't. I'm glad you are here safely. There are a lot of people who are worried that there will be some terrorists getting through, which I suppose is possible since Biden screwed things up so badly, not everyone could be vetted, but just from my kids being over there, I know there were many of you who worked really hard to help and I truly hope you will be safe and can start a new life.

One of the soldiers said that the biggest problem is when the Taliban shoot you and then they enter their homes as if nothing had happened. This indicates that the Taliban are the people of the city, so they will certainly not kill their own children or the children of others. When after one decade of fighting the Taliban and winning hearts and minds you visit a girls' school in platoon strength, wearing body armour, helmet and carrying automatic rifles, the thought comes to mind that these soldiers are wasting their time. They are brave and quite literally risk lives and limbs for people whom they have nothing in common with, and for a cause that seems futile. I am sorry for the soldiers, and even more for the schoolgirls and their teachers.
