I'd say he did a great job for UW... 4-10 to a Nat'l Championship in TWO YEARS. Tell me anyone that's done that before! Sorry he's gone, but he did more for UW than anyone would have thought possible - ANYONE! And the notoriety UW received will positively impact them for years!

Watching this 2 years later man did we hit a home run.. i remember a few local sports talk personalities (710) kinda trashing this hire .. Love they were wrong.
I hope he does step on Huards toes I don’t think he coming back here that would be awkward considering he is drafted eligible and if he comes here he is expecting to start not sit since that would hurt his draft status. Maybe he will enter the draft
The huskies have the talent to compete with any team in this league maybe not quite on a National level yet but I think if this coach can land a couple of four or even five star recruits the program could elevate itself to higher level. The huskies need to recruit linebackers, number a stud running back, a pass rusher . I will guarantee you next year you will see the difference in how the player are better on the field It was so obvious that the coaches had no idea what they were doing. Especially lake he had a horrible judgement when it came to coaches and players . We seen how the defensive coach that took over mad so many bone head mistakes plus the new offensive coordinator didn’t change anything he called the same lame plays . I especially like on third downs Adams would call the exact same play a twenty to THRITY yard pass to either side line the same plays Donavan would call. That how ridiculous this offense was you don’t throw a low percentage pass on a THRID and nine of less just get the damn FIRTS down . Plus MORRIS is the most accurate long passer I excited about this guy he will immediately improve this offense ? The huskies also need to hit that weight room serious
If true then that's great news in my opinion. Having a QB who has had success in DeBoer's system would help ease the transition while also giving Huard a year to learn the new system which would set him up for success becoming the starter in 2023. Even if Haener comes I highly doubt Huard would transfer. Haener only has one year of eligibility left which would mean Huard would take over as a Sophomore, giving him up to 3 years as the starter. His time will come but based off what we saw in the Apple Cup I think he needs another year of development before he takes over as our starting QB.

I hope UW isnt going soft. Firing Lake for slapping a facemask seems like this soft culture we are being fed by the media. Making it out like he assaulted a kid, and her choice of words when describing new coach "high integrity/character, cares about the kids implying Lake did not rubs me the wrong way. He slapped the facemask of a 300lb warrior which happens to kids playing pee wee football. We dont need her nerfing the football world for our men. When I think of husky football I think of tough physical defense as well as big OL pounding and running the rock. I believe he runs an air raid offense which isnt very physical. You need to be able to run the ball to use up clock and beat up the other team. Rest your defense while you eat up clock. We have a long line of sending OL, TE, RB to the NFL. I hope he continues to use that personnel. I dont mind adding some air raid to it and doing whatever is succesful, but we need to continue to be physical team. Nothing more satisfying than running the ball on your oppenent and making them scared to tackle your 230 lb corey dillon types. I will give him a chance bc I have no choice, I just ask that you dont turn us into an all passing team. Our team has the personell right now to complete for a championship the next 2 years. Those top recruiting classes are now becoming upperclassman and that OL is built to play smash mouth football. Hopefully he hires the right staff and does an great job recruiting. CAnt wait for this new era to get underway and look forward to getting back to the top of the pac 12. Go DAWGS!!
He got fired for a lot more than smacking Rupe in the face. He just made too many first time HC mistakes in personnel choices, recruited poorly and fielded a poor product. That’s a quick yank for any AD.
@@MurchyMurch Possibly...but his first year was covid shortened....and yeah this year didnt go as expected...but hardly enough time to say he sucked...had he not slapped his facemask hed still be there so that did play a big part in his firing....and the QB we started wasnt/isnt going to do anything special especially with literally no WR esp first few games....whats done is done....the team is built and ready to win next 2 years I just hope we dont run away from the running game

@@brianb5800 I love tough smash mouth football too. I went to UW during the early 90's. '91 Huskies are the epitome of tough, physical, confident fast football. What Jimmy put out there was NOT tough. We couldn't run the ball, couldn't stop the run, and got dominated at the line of scrimmage. Lake had some ideas but didn't know how to execute it. He was used to constant praise as a defensive secondary genius and didn't know how to deal with the adversity just got more stubborn. We were in a downward spiral.
