You've managed to give the bowl that extra bit of a wow, by keeping that section of bark on. Love the finish!

  • @PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop

Looks great, Luie! That bit of bark really sets off the rest of the piece. Good job! 😃

      Thanks Phil!!
I really wish more of the bark would of stayed on…..but we can’t always control that.

Sure is a cool looking piece Luie. The colors are great and so much to see with all those knots in there. I think filling that crack was a good choice. It looks pretty natural.
Also just enough bark to tease your eyes and thoughts of what it looked like growing where it did.
    Great work,
    Gary

Very nice work with a fun piece of wood. The bark on the rim looks oks good.

I was concerned that it was turning out rather heavy, a bit too chunky but in the final pictures it actually looks very handsome and the remaining bark sets it off extremely well. As always Luie, a wonderful piece of work. Thanks for showing us how it's done.

Looks good Luie. A fairly tricky piece to turn and finish but worth it.

Crotch wood always expressive if you expose the “feather” grain. Looks like you have been learning a trick or two from Phil! 🤪 As to the crack: Starbond has a brown C.A. that I like using when I don’t want the crack to be a feature. It is very golden and blends in seamlessly on most woods. Hope he enjoys the bowl, and looking forward to seeing you turn more of it.

As I was applying the black CA I was thinking to myself I need to order some brown CA😂

That is astonishing Luie and it was just like watching Phil.
That small amount of bark makes the piece for me.
I absolutely sure your friends will love it.
    Take care my friend.

That did turn out great. Being able to keep all those characteristics is great. My only worry about NOT filling the crack would be a possible increase in the size of the crack.

Nice! I have one of those trees in my yard, but it is only maybe 3 inches thick.
