He's dumb-as-fuck! There is a lot of omission & reductionism & inconsistency, this video is about agenda-setting.
More specifically, going dark AWOL primitive with his neuro-linguistic programming with the addition of the subtle dehumanization and demoralization campaign.
He's creating a hierarchy of survival of the fittest for his audience blaming me them. It's also economic, ecological and psychological.
Really, you never learned that you can't build a relationship on dishonesty or is it futilitarianism because that makes more sense.
I'm unsubscribing anyway, only joined in because of the arch content. There's plenty of that elsewhere.

It's interesting how most scifi stories/movies will depict an advanced civilization where the people are in full control of technology, & use it to face adventure & challenge. When in reality, humans are too easily controlled by our own technology that instead we use it to escape from real adventure & challenge.
With things like Nueralink, I fear that many will choose to "resolve" these issues through a transhumanist philosophy. That our human nature & desire will be judged as inefficient, & thus redundant, in the pursuit of technological progression.

I think it is ultimately how these technologies are constructed are aimed at disempowering the user.
Perhaps I am wrong on this however I suspect this started with the Apple Macintosh as the OS and the hardware was locked down and no changes or modifications could be done by the user compared to the earlier Apple II computer.
Given how successful Apple (and with hardware particularly which is a tough nut to crack compared to software solutions) has been and how other public companies want to follow its model.
We have the ability to create the digital library of Alexandria where everyone can be able to find, locate and research/enjoy anything thanks to things like advanced search algorithms, cloud computing, advanced/fast networking systems. However these things are walled off requiring payment and how these systems work are intentionally left vague and hidden.
Ultimately we have become dependent on these systems and these systems have amazing potential to truly revolutionise how humanity lives and can augment our abilities to incredibly heights. However these companies profit off of us wasting our time as well as locking down the software/hardware we use.
I see hope in the Free Libre Open Source movement and hopefully this philosophy spreads elsewhere into academia. I am not delusional to think this is the panacea for us however I am confident it can push humanity into the right direction.

its not the technology. its the goals of the society creating the technology.
at the moment, all our technology is basically aimed at one ideal. MAKE MONEY.
we are sold little trinkets, baubles, to keep us entertained, and not despair so much as we waste our momentary existences on working for some nameless entity to buy things that we are brainwashed to need...
if we had a society that actually believed , and attempted to achieve food for all, roofs for all, clothes for all... raised to not fight, argue, but agree, work together...
but we dont. we have arbitrary lines in the sand. imaginary borders that we fight over, snarl at each other over. we covet that little bauble we worked so hard to get, hide it away, mine mine minnne!
make land mines... yet also make artificial hearts and kidneys.
try to "prolong life" and tell us we "live longer than ever" yet fill more and more retirement homes with unwanted uncared for lonely people with dementia, alzheimers, cancer... "oh but we will cure that..." as long as you have money. will pay. have family that will pay. and its never cured, its just long drawn out death, series of operations ad treatments... all very expensive...
and why is this long life so precious, other than for unknown, un-named, faceless entities to...
    MAKE MONEY?
naw. this society in itself just has the wrong morals, the wrong mindset. technology is great when used properly.

One thing that I'd argue is part of it: the idea of utopia itself. Many have assumed it's some perfect society, or even better than that, if it was even possible. However, if we look at the literal meaning of the word, it translates as "no place" or "nowhere." Apparently, Thomas More wrote the book Utopia, which is where most of us find the concept, as a satire. Plus, there are some really unusual concepts in the book, the first being that Utopia is an actual physical place; atheism is still frowned upon, because it's seen as saying that neither punishment nor reward exists; a universal passport is required to live in Utopia, and not having one can lead to serious punishments, especially considering there are no lawyers. Also, there's little to no privacy in More's vision; almost everything is in plain sight. There's more, but I won't get into it. Keep in mind too that More was a devout Catholic priest, which I'll let you make your own judgments on, but the more I think about it, I think he was basically saying that not only is the idea of "Utopia" likely impossible, it's probably not that desirable either.

People of the past would've taken care of people with disabilities, old people and people with illnesses, despite they may not ever prove useful to their community. This behavior also can be seen in animals with social structures as they also tend to take care for weak among themselves. They share mentality of no one left behind. But now we tend to think of billionaires as a hard workers and people who haven't been that fortunate or successful in live as a losers as if they deserve their situation.

idk, primitivism or anything like it ends when the tooth pain begins. or more apt when people start smelling the shit. these types of videos and books are good for people how haven't heard differently or who have never thought about these things before. but if you've put in more than a passing thought into this topic then I don't think what the book has to say is that meaningful. and dare I say what he's saying is wrong.
like ancient cultures absolutely feared aging and death. it just wasn't in the forefront of their mind that much since they had a bunch of other shit to worry about. you think the people during the black plague didn't fear death? you think the people who where first colonizing america and died due to the cold didn't fear death?
And I don't even disagree that tech has had a lot of negatives for us as a species. but these negatives where always there to begin with. they just weren't as obvious as they are now.
I think what you said about having more independence is good and is something I've started to realize about a few months ago. but I don't think the primitive stuff is the way to go either. modern life has taken away freedom but it's not like the primitive life doesn't do that either. if you're spending all day trying to survive, find shelter, and find food then you no longer have the freedom to explore or have ambition/aspirations. I just think you can still get a lot of fulfillment from modern life with out having to embrace the primitivism stuff.

Couldnt be further from the truth, because high skill involved jobs exist for a reason, and as someone that encourages online privacy so much you know that information is money... So while you make a penny boss makes a grand. This mere fact has made this time the most unequal. The solution is not to propagate lib propaganda, the solution is to help more people realize of the current state of things in data era. I view human history as a Greek tragedy, where two equally valid but opposing views never get really settled except by a deus ex machina. This issue about technology is a perfect example of us needing it (even if it's just a simple arrow to hunt) but also needing to curtail its effects, and there being no universal criterion on how to do so. Once we've admitted the arrow, we will try to improve upon it and will (eventually) end up with Chat GPT. We can definitely spot the harmful effects of some technology, and will perhaps put a temporary cap on it, but as long as there is no universal agreement on what good and bad technology are, there is no stopping this. We all know that the nuclear bomb is of no benefit to human life, and yet here we are with thousands of warheads ready to go off as soon as someone makes a stupid decision. I think these remedies you mention are great for the individual (just make sure your hobbies require real physical effort and not just clicks of the mouse/keyboard), but there is no remedy for mankind. Our innate instinct to be a part of the pack/machine is the main reason for this. Sadly, there is no deus ex machina to come down and solve this for us.

this is precisely how I think, I don't think he's fully wrong but at the same time I don't think we should be quick to swing one way or another, its the same how I thought when others did a video on the unibomber, I think there is a very healthy balance between the two which I think he doesn't take into account, a great first step would be to quit relying on tech for everything. brew your own coffee instead of having a coffee maker do it every morning for example. instead of buying bread or noodles, make your own. grow your own vegies and fruits, I also don't think having hobbies is that bad which is also slightly contrary to his ideas. I mean ever since we could, kids and adults would invent games and dances and such and hobbies is just a full extension of that. its just we should start seeing hobbies as "fun things we do" rather then "replacement for fulfillment" and that's only where I think he loses people a little(including me), you can still enjoy technology, video games, other hobbies but also remember some of those things can also be a detriment. understanding that already gives you more power and freedom.
the first thing to fixing a problem is understanding that there is a problem, after all. another question i have to ask is is technology really the problem or is our obsessive use of it the problem?

You can never imagine the satisfaction a man can ger from successfully building a retro handheld console feom scratch using raspberry Pi or being able to build and fly a RC Aircraft from scratch or being able to make your ownpaintball or airsoft from scratch using 3D printers or making amateur rockets or going the extra mile and making those rockets computer controlled (again using Raspberry Pis) or designing and tinkering with your own self-designed PCB circuits. The fun and ecstasy a man gets from doing all this is just unimaginable. And all of this also leads to further advancement of society at large in fact

Your digital nomad life is dependent on hundreds to thousands of people doing other jobs that don't allow them to be digital nomads.

Technology isn't the problem, it's that we were too clever and developed it much too quickly, thus not allowing our nature to adapt to it.
Had it been a thousand, or ten thousand years instead of roughly a century, we'd be in a much better place, mentally and emotionally, with our technology. As it is, we're just apes with smartphones; smart apes, but just mere apes, barely containing outdated instincts.
As it stands, while one can rail against the decadence of modern life, the very fact that you can even sit here and complain about it is the height of decadence. You are so freed from just trying to survive, be it from hunger, disease or somebody trying to off you for any number of social/political/tribal reasons, that you can sit there and ponder "gee, maybe all of this was a mistake".
No, it wasn't. Having the sum total of human knowledge at your actual fingertips isn't a mistake. Learning more about the universe in the last few months than had been learned since the rise of man until a hundred years ago isn't a mistake. Having a society that has enough free time to talk to people across the planet in real time because you're not trying to not be eaten by some predator isn't a mistake.
If you can afford to sit there and complain about how technology has freed you, you can better spend that time doing literally anything else that isn't trying, in some foolish way, to destroy it for everybody else. Despite the blackpilled doomer nonsense, nobody is forcing you to be isolated and alone. That's your own doing. You need social connections that are in real life? THEN DO IT. You need to burn energy? Then do it.
The problem isn't technology. It's you, as a human. So do what humans are best at; adapt and make your own happiness.

    • @midplanewanderer9507
      @midplanewanderer9507 Рік тому +1

LOL. The problem has _always_ been humans, "adapting" to "make their own happiness."
The issue here, _now,_ is that we've effectively snared ourselves into a technocratic dystopia, super-charged with the crystal meth of Neoliberalism, of Profit At All Costs, hyped as a moral imperative. Technology in and of itself is neither good or bad, but in the hands of damaged apes cursed with an oddly-advanced neocortex and a hard-to-control Amygdala (pre-programmed from earlier epochs), well...this is the world that you get.

    @weirdo3116 Рік тому +1

you know what? I just realized that what you where talking is something I've heard from Dr.K and Destiny (Steven Bonnell). They've both mentioned how people nowadays feel way more mentally depressed even though they have a lot of their physical needs taken care of. They even mentioned the fulfillment point. But where they differ is the solution. they said that people need to have more problems/conflicts that they choose in life vs ones that are just thrusted on to them (active vs passive). that if you have more active challenges you start to feel better and more fulfilled. vs if you just have passive ones. it's why some rich kids can still feel extremely fulfilled while other ones feel empty.
