Dragon Ogres are what happens when the concept of Centaurs reaches their natural conclusion. Large, powerful, terrifying, Dragon Ogres. The heralds of the Storm of Chaos, the vanguard of the dark gods, hell incarnate. Dragon Ogres, long they shall live, and many shall they crush. Edit: corrected spelling error
it's still a pity that kholek is so "small". He looks really fantastic now, but he hardly lives up to his lore. It's the same with other lords, but he really stands out and of course you have to make compromises. I would still like a really bigger model from CA.
@@shadearca the dread saurian is really good in the campaign and also in one or the other domination or land battle. Of course, generally speaking, it represents an absolute risky investment when it comes to multiplayer. So perhaps CA should take an example from SFO. You can certainly make units significantly larger. But then they also need the appropriate HP pool and missle resistance. I look at the game more from a campaign perspective in general though.

I still remember seeing the Dragon Ogre Shaggoth model as a kid on the old GW website and thinking how mysteriously cool the creature is. Incredibly ancient, surrounded by myth and invested with deadly might and magic, it really stood out at that time as a part of the Beasts of Chaos army and I think the Dragon Ogres as a whole were one of the more unique races of Warhammer Fantasy.
Powerful, immortal, raised on a foreign star. He was able to lift entire planets with a single arm. Now he returned to Earth to prepare for the final battle.
Since Zoats are offically back in TWW, it is my head canon, that the dragon ogres are either a tribe of zoats or a closley related species which underwent mutations after their pact with chaos. For both are very akin to each other in general body shape, have heavy reptilian characteristics, are among the oldest creatures on the planet, have an affinity for natural forces (lightning for DO, life/earth/water for zoats) etc.pp. The only main difference are that DO look more mammalian in their upper torso, which could easily be a result from chaos mutations.
@@jeambeam3173 you mean the (snapping) turtle head? Well Zoats are not chaos touched and thus not mutated. First they work with Wood Elves and protect the natural harmony of the world. Sure they could be transformed by Athel Lorens magics. But secondly they have connections with the Lizardmen, as the event text says if you occupy the magic forest in Lustria as WE. And the LM hate chaos mutations or transformations non conform with their great plan. Lastly its often said that reptiles dominated the world before the arrival of the Old Ones. A description the fully reptilian Zoats fit far better than the partially mammalian dragon ogres. Indeed the dragon lower body but mammalian upper body always looked stitched to me. An unatural mix of features. Hence why I came to think that the pre-chaos dragon ogres looked more like zoats, and chaos mutation gave them their new apperance.
@@hangebza6625 oh I definitely believe there there own species I was just speaking in terms of what the other guy was thinking what would make more sense
i'm so happy that chaos has gotten new units and characters and the ability to recruit demons, marking the warriors with either undivided or a monogod.
Eh I just wish Kholek were that magnificent beast he is in lore in game. Taken into account his stats from tabletop he should be as durable as Greater demon of nurgle with as much damage as greater demon of khorne. While he has really good damage, his HP is lower than most greater demons while he is bigger target. In woch Archaon has almost as much damage, is faster, smaller and casts magic. And has AoE buffs. Belakor has more hp and regeneration, great debuffs, terror that ignores immune to psychology, is faster and also casts magic. Kholek got powercreeped so bad. He needs magical attacks to be able to fight his "best matchups": factions with limited shooting and great meele in form of large units, so all other chaos factions and brettonia. And all of those factions got 20% physical defence, so Kholek does way less damage than he should into them. I'm fine with him being somewhat squishy. He got 25% missiles resistance and 95armor. Its really decent. Sure as he has 8 wounds in tabletop and greater demons of nurgle got 7 he shouldnt have 2/3 of its hp but be equal. Oh and kholek in tabletop has much better survivability than giants, who also have for unknown reason more hp and dmg than kholek... Just giving him magical attacks wont make him good, but at least will give him nieche to be in. Right now my fav character is waste of funds. I used to bring him into tournaments all the warhammer 2, now hes too bad.
I'm newer (2-3yr) to warhammer both 40k and fantasy and this is the first time I have heard of the dragon ogres are they a recent addition or have they been around for a while?
They’re pretty old. Fantasy was made around the 70’s. Some of the older editions were greenskins, vampires, ogres, elves, man, dwarves, chaos, and Dragonogres
I think they have been around quite a while, I think maybe at least since 6th edition? maybe even sooner. Not too familiar with the History of the Fantasy Tabletop as much as I am 40k.
I want you guys to make a video which is a how to guide on how to defeat an army of chaos. What weapons and tactics can help Man survive the coming war
Well, the dragon ogres made a really bad deal tbh. They don't die except in battle, bur they're still dying out for they do not procreate, and while they die out anyway must serve the powers of damnation
Makes me wonder how they made a deal like that when not all of their species wanted that. I mean, can a handful make pacts with Chaos that affect their entire species? If yes how are the races not wrecked by stupid deals like the dragon ogres?
