I clicked this video because of its title which looks like the title of a review video on these books. After opening this video I saw that the protagonist was criticizing the ideas in these books without quoting the fallacy in the logic mentioned in these books and was asking the viewers to counter the narrative by invoking the religious emotions. This felt like an utter waste of time. I'm sure he's some kind of Professor in IIT Madras and using its name to further his propaganda and capitalize on the interest of people in these books. Definitely a pathetic person the guy uploading the video is.

This fellow is acting as though he does not know about caste system in India. Read Manusmriti, Vyasa smriti, Gautama smriti and other non-sensical scriptures. May be even Vedanta (Uttara mimamsa/Shaariraka Sutras) of Badarayana -- the apashudra adhikarana along with commentaries of Shankara/Ramanuja/Madhva or others.
The caste system is the ridiculous system. And even though that's an English word, you call 'Jaati' in native languages.

The fact still remains that everything you're quoting is a smriti ie. Literature. Would you have us believe that people's commentary from x century BCE or even AD is akin to smriti Ie. Religious scripture? What you, me, this guy, the guy who wrote the book he's commenting on- It's all smriti. The issue is people want to talk about caste, jaati and what have you, relate it to religion and then cite smriti's lmao. What in the world? Cite what book, chapter and verse of The Vedas mentions anything remotely about caste and it being ok to discriminate against another of God's creations and you have a case. Until then you're using someone's commentary during the timeframe they lived in and all that does is give you a picture into a. their mindset which is subjective and b. the mindset of society at that time. You clearly are part of that ignorance because you refer to ManuSMRITI, VyasaSMRITI, GautamaSMRITI as "nonsensical scriptures" when they are even by orthodox standards, NOT scripture. They're SMRITI (ie. Literary commentary) lmao. No one reads a smriti and equates it to The Vedas or anything remotely religious. Do you read Harry Potter to gain insight into Christianity because the author was a Christian? The caste system is definitely religious. Jaati's (tribes) are not. If that was the case then the worldover wouldn't identify with which clan they're from and make it such a big deal. If you want a rabbit hole to go down- Start looking up why gotra is such a huge deal to Hindus and why regardless of what jaati or caste someone comes from a Brahmin can have the same gotra (bloodline) as a Chamar, A Kshatriya the same as a Brahmin, A Dusadh the same as a Vaishya, list goes on. If caste is based on birth since the beginning of time there should be no objective reason for why different castes (birth based professions) or even different jaati's (clans) have the same gotra (bloodline). Unless the literary evidence we have- ie. at some point birth based profession was imposed and one brother became one profession and another a diff profession and hence changing the lives of their lineage- is true. I hope you keep this same energy for why Muslims believe in Ajlafs vs Ashraf per their scripture, Christians believing in the Master vs Slave, etc. Trump should've be giving his business to his sons by this logic, rich people shouldn't look down on poor people anywhere, pr/stitutes, sewage workers, etc. shouldn't be discriminated against, etc. But unfortunately I'm willing to bet you don't know that all these things are looked highly upon in Abrahamic faiths whilst The Vedas frowns upon it. I guess if the West can do these things we find them logical, but Hinduism is to blame for some random societal changes that get carried on unfortunately until today. Definitely kalyug.

@@panjabipandit You are going off point. Currently you see caste system in India. And, I don't want to make you believe in Smritis "NOW" because people have already believed it since some AD and x person's commentary. And I dont need a lecture on the valid and invalid scriptures.
Do you think all Hindus accept the Vedas? And, Do all Hindus know the contents of the Vedas? You agree on one point: "Caste system was imposed on us"? But, who imposed it? The smritis gained currency more than the Vedas. If people needed just the Vedas, Why did they need Smritis?? Who placed authority on it? And, If Vedas are the ultimate scriptures of the Hindus, I ask there are no idol worships in the Vedas, why is it so famous today? Who sanctioned Idol worships, Caste system etc...? Answer is: Smritis. The smritis sanction them. The shastras accept "Aaptyavakya आप्तवाक्य" as a testimony alongside Shrutis. But, Are the Vedas consulted in every aspect of Hindus' life??
And, my comment is on the video, pertaining to its contents. But, you are arguing on the validity of the Vedas.
And, why should not any Hindu discuss on the problems of the Caste? And, I suppose, you are a Hindu. Whenever people write on caste, or talk on the current Hindu society and its problems, why do people like you try to show they don't exist in Hindu society? Of course, at the end of your comment you accepted that somehow caste system remains. And that's correct. It exists.
The Atharvaveda Brahmacharya sukta mentions - " तस्मात् जातम् ब्राह्मणम् ब्रह्म ज्येष्ठं..." etc... which means a Brahmachari becomes a Braahman after he resides and learns from Gurukula. But, how does one become a kshatriya or vaishya or shudra?
The so called God-given scriptures or "unauthored" scriptures(!!??) cannot talk on the division of society. And if it talks, then it becomes its duty to be fully clear about its point. The Purusha sukta of the Rig and yajur veda: ब्राह्मणोस्य मुखमासीद .. etc.. talks about the division of society but it does not give definition and application and maintenance anywhere.
Although Vedas have beautiful messages to humanity, it has also created confusions at places. We can assume there exists no birth-based varna system. But the Vedas are silent on who should be called a brahmin or kshatriya or vaishya or shudra. Therefore interpretors or Smritis come to make the ideas clear.
Therefore, we have a smriti based society. Even today, if you get confused anywhere while interpreting the Vedas, who do you consult? Do you consult your elders or the God himself? Of course, some other seniors.
Hence Smritis become valid. If the vedas were self sufficient, then there was no need for any smritis.
My point is: "Does the caste system exist or not exist? If it exists did it exist before the arrival of Islam or the British? If so from when?" So, I quote smritis that they existed before any foreign occupation.
The speaker in the video is talking against the book by Yengde. And I ask don't you consider Yengde as a Hindu? And, If he talks about the problems he faced and the ruthless people who are treating the Dalits wrongly, don't you think he should express?
And If murders, rapes happen to you or your family, don't you write and publish in books and articles? Don't you want your society to know the problem?
This video talks about castes and some of the writings. It is not talking about Christianity or Islam. I suggest comparison to other religions do not solve caste problem. Why do you need to compare here?
If trump gives business roles to his sons, we need not worry. But, if Trump says only his children should run business then there is a problem.
And this is what caste system says. And people who are into it are talking about solving such problems.
How many temples have non-Brahmin priests or even Dalit priests (except few non-brahmin priest temples)? Do you talk on that? Even though people venture, the priests are torturing people? Do you talk on that?
You people only come when somebody shows there is a problem.
And, currently, people need not always have to look up to the Vedas for the solution of their problems. Do Vedas solve all problems?
Madhvacharya said there are three meanings to the Vedas, but he could not prove it. His commentary did not establish that.
Dayanand Saraswati said " From the subtle particles to the Supreme Lord, all knowledge is contained in the vedas". He also says in his Rigvedaadi Bhashya Bhumika: All knowledge is contained in Rig veda, all Yajnik or Karmakanda is contained in the Yajur veda and so on... But, when you see his commentary on the Vedas: He only mentions "People should practice Brahmacharya, should go to a learned person to attain knowledge, should discover etc. etc...", but he does not prove his claims that vedas contain all knowledge. Apart from already known facts during his time such as: "Earth revolves aroung the Sun" or "running vehicles using fuels" etc. no other science he points to in his commentary.
Of course, today's science is incomparable and can solve any problem. Although I accept Dayanand tried to solve caste problem and he tried to establish validity of Shruti than the Smritis, why did he have to do that? Because, people had forgotten the validity of the vedas than the Smritis. And, nowadays, people believe more in their Acharya's Brahmasutra-commentary than the Vedas.
And, finally, Caste system is sanctioned through Smritis and I quote it. That is what is ruining our society. And, people should discuss on the problems of caste to gain solution without waiting for any shruti sanctions.
God has given Buddhi to the humans (in case people have belief in God), but he did not keep any Vedas in the minds of Humans. No scriptures can be taken valid, but people create it according to their needs. The theravada buddhist scriptures, the vedas, confucianism, ancient greek knowledge etc..are very good compared to other Bible or quoran. But, the point of supremacy of scriptures is not the point here.
If you have problems with Abrahmic religions, then you should probably discuss with Abrahamics not Hindus.
You don't need to bet on me.
European and American people darely talk about the Slave system and they don't hide behind religions or religious texts. And they are not afraid to discuss the problems in society. Although few sections of their society are stupid that they believe such. And, with the advancement of knowledge of Genetics, people are becoming more aware on the evolution of life rather than so-called God-given scriptures or israeli land.
And by the way, Christian bible nowhere asks anyone to create slave system. And, Islamic scripture calls non-believer as a "kaafir". And the Vedas call non-believers as "Dasyus" or "Vraatyas".
With respect to Science, Society and Advancement: Yes! West is intelligent. No wonder we also adopted the technological revolution by learning from them.
But, at the end of the day, one needs to ponder on solutions to the problems. And it cannot be obtained by comparing to other religions. All Humans are equal, until it reaches every person, people should not give up talking about it.
If castes were just about profession we didn't have to worry but, reducing one section of people to scavenging and always looking on brahmins or some fellow as the highest and descriminating in works, society and politics are the problems here. People called beasts as higher castes!! And they are like devils quoting scriptures. Although it is vanishing nowadays, it is not fully gone.
One needs to solve the problem that exists 'now', not talking about some bygone era's glory.
And, when Smritis were accepted more and is responsible for today's ruined Hindu society, therefore, I quote the names of above smritis.

Caste is invention of Hinduism or sanatan dharma. When people converted to other religions from Hindu eg Sikh, Christianity and Islam their social status didn't change and society didn't forget their caste. That's why you see caste in other religions in india. It's not the case for Muslims and Christians outside india.
Main difference between class which you find in almost every feudal society and caste in India is 1. Caste was determined by birth with no social mobility 2. Endogamy no intercaste marriages especially with lower caste or out caste (both are different).

Why do you think that the dalits are not akin to afro americans? At least dont blame it on Suraj , when Jyotia himself around 1872 wrote a piece on this in his book Gulamgiri. Phule did draw the parallel in a very clear way. Even Ambedkar pointed out the similarities and wrote on this comparision of slavery with untouchability, which could be found in volume 5 of his collected works.
So this self proclaimed expert needs to read in detail on caste issues before fanning out conspiracy theories.
