"We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him." I John 5:18

So you're enough and don't need Jesus? Also that's not John 5:18???

Great clarification! The verse is 1st John 5:18 and says that if you are born again "born of God," you don't have the same compulsion to sin. So, we absolutely need Jesus, otherwise we can't be born again. This also doesn't mean that believers are incapable of acts of sin - there is still a sin nature - but that a lifestyle of habitual sin is being dealt with.

@@HopeCFW This is what the church teaches- that we will always walk in sin. It is not what the Scriptures teach. Jesus told us to "be perfect as the Father is perfect" in Matthew 5:48 or...
"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” I Peter 1:13-16
We are to walk as Jesus walked and Jesus did not sin.

@@jannaswanson271 I agree with you that Jesus did not sin, but A) How would you explain the Apostle Paul's comment in Romans 7:15-20 and B) What do you call it when a Christ-follower thinks or does something that dishonors God's ways?

@@HopeCFW Paul understood sin like we all do. He is not just throwing up his hands though.
In I Corinthians 9 he writes, "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize. Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable. Therefore I do not run aimlessly; I do not fight like I am beating the air. No, I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified."
What does he mean by disqualified?
Again, we all start out in sin. We fight it and through Christ we overcome sin. Without holiness no one will see the Lord.
