im 14 and i can't hear anything...
+Marissa Jean ditto
+Marissa Jean the same problem but i have 13 yars
Mad Cat realy i tryed 2 earphones 4 headphones and 1 Box dosent work
+Marissa Jean UA-cam cuts off audio above 16KHZ (16000hz) during file compressing, thats why you can't hear anything.
yeah
This one actually has no sound, I think UA-cam might have compressed it or something.
It does, either you or your headphones are not capable of hearing the sound.
TurtleBlaster If you open the volume mixer you can clearly see that no sound is playing.
BoostedChimp69 Minsung The audio is less than a second long, it's just a quick chirp right at the beginning and then 29.99 seconds of silence. I checked audio levels on my computer, had my headphones at full blast with an amp, and everything, there's nothing beyond that first millisecond
i hear it with my headphones
No, your just deaf
I just confirmed that this does not actually have the 18000 Hz sound, as my PC's volume mixer doesn't register any sound when I play this video (excluding the negligible sounds at the beginning and end of the video)
I hooked it up to an oscilloscope - NOTHING. This is an EMPTY audio file - to fool you. Chances are, however, that your speakers wouldn't reproduce it, and even if they *did*, you'd not have heard it. But BOO to the poster of this.
:-)
I used to be able to (when I was 22) hear alarm systems - they were at 18,400. They made me so nauseous that I had to walk out of the given store. Also, I could always hear a television (CRT) - at 17,200.
Now, nearing age 60, I can "only" hear 14,000. I always wear ear plugs when out in loud situations (even amusement parks), and I highly recommend it!
PyroSax thanks for actually checking this, but the main problem isn't the up-loaders file, UA-cam REALLY likes to compress the crap out of the audio and most tones above 17 Khz get mixed with different tones and the whole thing either doesn't play or it's not a true 18 khz sound.
I measured the output signal with my oscilloscope! It is just silence. Tell all the people and cats out there to stop imagining things!
Know Your Science Well it must be broken, because real live people are hearing it. Stop accusing people
+Know Your Science same, this has no sound. I just recreated the tone and my audio system can certainly reproduce it and I can hear it, but this is a whole lot of nothing. Funny how strong the placebo effect can be.
Agree , there is no sound here , I can hear the irritating 17400khz tone , but here there is no sound at all.
i'm 16 and i can't hear it
I'm 17 and i can
I'm 16 too and can hear 16 kHz too. In fact i can hear up to 19.5 kHz. If you can hear it on this video, it's probably due to UA-cam's lossy audio compression - which has a sharp audio cut off at 16-17 kHz.
I cant hear a thing and im youger than you!!
I have an actual level meter on my computer and it's not showing any sound coming from this file at 720p in html5 on firefox.
i can clearly hear this sound like zzzzzzz comming
***** I don't know what to tell you. I really do have a means by which to determine if there is a presence of any sound at all attached to video playback and so far as this video is concerned all signs point to no.
My audio system certainly can reproduce frequencies in excess of 18khz and nother that sound or any other is attached to this file. whether it's being filtered out via youtube's data compression or not I don't know.
Brendan Peery as u mentioned the meter it showed nothing on my meter too but in practicality i could hear and the reason ur not able to hear is cause ur too old i guess or impaired hearing (no offence) u should research on this thing.People of a specific age only can hear this for example this frequency can be heard by people below 30 or something. For me i cant hear 19khz but this freq i can because i am 22
Offering that you hear something when your computer is telling you there is nothing has me suspicious about your noise floor and line level noise. If you hear a hiss or a buzz and interpret that as the 18khz sound file then you are hearing something I don't hear.
Brendan Peery I played it through a pitch-shifter, halving the frequency to 9,000hz, and yowch, there's a definite tone. I can't hear the 18,000hz tone, but I can feel the pressure of it. Looking at the soundwave itself, it's not a sine-wave, nor is it even. It's only a third of the full possible amplitude/volume.
Guys Just open your windows sound mixer, and you will notice that this video has no sound at all. It clearly shows that the volume never exceeds 0db. If there was a sound that we couldn't hear, windows should still be able to pick the sound up and graphically show it in the volume control tab. ;)
also, it 480p - anyway all youtube videos get compressed again by youtube and lose some of the sounds
If you want to test such things, download some good wav audio files
Well I hear it
i hear it
what a load of bs. I checked it on my music software and there's definitely 18kHz frequency in the sound. Btw, I can't hear it but I don't say it's not there just because I can't hear it.
I can only kinda hear it if I put my iPad speaker up to my ears. But I'm 25 with Tinnitus from an ear disorder and slightly deaf in my right ear from douch bag related air horn damage. Cant even hear whistling or rain in my right ear only deep sounds but for some reason can hear the electric buzz of my phone weird lol. But the T is bad. Smh.
that moment when you realise you can't hear this frequency any more :(
Me too ahah ^^
I could.
It's not real i just heared the tone from another source so yeah this is a scam
I heard it! But the volume was 100%
theres no sound dumbass
Yeah me too. It kinda hurts
I'm 17 and I can't hear it
crappy headphones or ears
Shane Dawson, I can't hear it but it hurts.
I played this on my ellipse 7 and it worked fine. People say its an empty file when it's not. And most sound programs aren't programmed to detect this pitch at all
Also, it's making my cat go crazy. And I don't think he's "bullshitting".
+P A N I C . Animals have a different frequency range haha, your cat must've been like what the fuck is going on
anyone who said they heard it are just hearing their own ears ringing UA-cam cuts out all sounds above 17 kHz.
I heared it no joke i repeated it to make sure, as i went up to 18100 in a hearing test
i hear it like i stop the video i hear anything i play i hear a pitch note
No I heard it
I tested it on my brother in other room and he can definitely tell if i have it playing or not.
I'm 44 and I can hear it fine on iPad but I suspect the poor quality speakers built into the device might have something to do with it.
I have a mac. I couldn't hear anything at all at first with max volume. After plugging in my headphones I can guarantee you there is an obvious tone that stops when you pause the video. I am also 28 years old but have always had pretty sensitive hearing.
Windows sound mixer reports that there's no sound at all above ~17.2k. That must be where UA-cam cuts it off, so if you're hearing up to 17k+, you should try out other tests around internet.
16 can still hear full volume if I stuck the outlet in my ear lol.
I definitely heard it. It's not an empty sound file. It just sounds like gas.
Im 14... Can't hear it I'm scared
wtf are you dumb not all speakers can do it
im 10 and i cant hear it :,,(
crappy headphones or ears
21 and I can hear it. Dunno why I'd want to. It's mildly irritating and I'd rather not listen to it.
I only hear the low quality recording hum slightly in the background.
Really???? I just tested this with a meter to be sure but I already knew that even if you did submit a video with 18 KHz in it, the youtube transcoding software effectively eliminates anything above 16 Khz. So I don't know what you people think you are hearing but it aint 18 KHz. My meter reads a slight spike at 11758 Hz (which would be annoying to some ears). No 18 KHz here.
how do you set the quality to 720p on someone else's youtube video? Even youtube and Vimeo both admit that their transcoders effectively filter out anything above 16 KHz. If there is a way for the youtube viewer to set the quality it is not obvious to me.
My 24 year self, nor my 7 year old son can hear it. I seem to lose my ability to hear at 16khz.
I'm 10 and can hear it
First, unless you are under 20 and probably under 10 and have the volume up really really loud, you will most likely NOT hear a clean 18 KHz sine wave. If you have bad speakers or poor audio amplifier what you might hear is a lower harmonic.
Second, UA-cam recently switched out its transcoder and retranscoded all videos and while this and many other hearing videos use to work fine at high frequencies, the new transcoder has effectively created a low pass audio filter which pretty much takes anything above 16 KHz out even at HD resolution. This is not the fault of whomever put this video on here. CD quality (44.1 KHz sample rate) audio SHOULD allow frequencies up to half the sample rate or 22050 Hz. I don't believe, with this new transcoding process, there is anyway to get true CD quality audio on a youtube video anymore.
However, no one is being scammed here. At least on purpose.
And no this is not my video nor are any of the other hearing test videos.
Strange. First I don't hear anything. After the video end I heared that the sound left. Then I listened to this again an heared the sound.
Once you're past a certain age, you wont hear anything. That's what this test is for.
actually, you have to be 20 not to hear it anymore
UA-cam should focus on problems like Hz and unlimited FPS not Facebook-like interface and other irrelevant bullshit.
FUCK THIS SOUNDS SOO OOOOOOOO COOOOooOOOOoLLLLL
I have amazing hearing
I'm 67, and I can hear it.....faintly on my laptop. Better speakers would sure help!
I can hear between 55Hz and around 18 kHz, while I am already 26.
Heard it at 720p. I am over 40.
there's no tone. the file is empty.
Yay I can hear it. Thanks to you I now Know that I cannot hear 19000 or 20000 but I can 18,000 with the volume up and on excellent quality. I could not hear it with the low quality settings.
But this is exciting to me because the last time I did this it was on a different soundcard (same headphones) and I couldn't hear past 15,000. I'm actually relieved my hearing is not as bad as I thought. I'm 30 by the way. So 30 years old still hearing 18000. I've heard that's decent. but it varies.
I can hear it now, but when I download it I can't. Does mp3 not allow 18000hz?
I can barely hear that. (17 years old)
you cant hear this if your over 20 or have your settings below 720p
Set the video quality to 720p and you will (hopefully) hear it.
There is sound coming from it. I'm 25 and could hear it fine. It's faint, but I can hear it fine.
I CAN HEAR IT XD, THIS ISNT AN EMPTY FILE
ow my ears jesus
Ouço apenas um leve chiado.
Can hear something at Max volume using mx50
im 20 and i hear it
Thank you for this comment. I went and downloaded an mp3 of the tone and I can hear it perfectly fine.
Damn, I'm only 20, and can't hear a damn thing..
I didn't hear it but i think it made my ears hurt... or it was one of those things that you think so your ming makes you feel it.
Try this on onlinetonegenerator; this speaker is a failure.
im 16 and i cant hear this is that bad????? fuck i need to stop going to concerts
no escucho nada
I heard something but thats not 18 khz they are back round noise i think
I'm 13 ... Didn't hear a peep..
I heard in my cell phone 30 hz to 17k
i am way older and can still hear it ..how come???
Im 15 I can hear it pretty clearly to be honest
when i click on the different areas of the video i can hear this clicking sound, when i turn my volume up and down, its still there.
but theres no sound in the actual video that i can hear
so uhhhhhhhh help pls
I definitely heard that
I can hear it with my headphone
my ears hurt. and now I have a headache.
Uh, I feel dizzy to hear that
faint but i can hear it very clearly
Help me!I can't here that!
A little static sound only. 18000hz will sound like a headache feels. My headphones are 12-38000 capable.
well then you really well wasted your money because maximum what can human hear is around 20kHz
Fake- no sound here!
I didn't hear s**t
I can hear alittle
I'm ten and i can't hear it
14 and cant hear it
This isn't 18000 hz.
i can only hear it at the end, like a faint pop
eu escutei e tipo um zumbino moderado
i can kind of hear it
My nose is bleeding
Ye no sound on video lel
Oh that is weird... It's super faint, but definitely there...
omfg my ears .....
I can hear it!
Damn. Had to crank my audio on that one. Just barely. I'm 50 but I'm also an audiophile.
I can hear it
idk what age has to do with this tone in particular, but it seems like lots of young people can't hear this, I'm 19 wearing earbuds and can hear it just fine o_O
si lo escuho y tengo 25 años :D
My head hurts
Heard it
tengo 14 y no lo escucho
it's too loud
No sound
LOL
wow, I'm 27, can hear it just very very faint and get goosepimples and a pressure in my head from hearing it ... xD ... not my type of frequency as it seems
ich hör so leichten unterschied wenn ich das video stoop und weiter mache
I'm 24 and I hear it perfectly.. listening on a galaxy s6, even at low volume. I'm not lying.. i even paused the video to see if the sound stops, and it does. But i never listened to loud music with headphones so maybe that's why lol idk
I can only hear it at max volume with headphone on my mac, if i go down 2 i can't hear it anymore, but it's definitely there, it's faint like a light hum - annoying though.
From my meter, the side tone I am hearing is more like 1,7 KHz
i am 15 and i can hear this one
+Gabriel Hernandes Eu também não :(
