    I have been looking for an easily digestible way to understand this surprisingly complex topic.
    Bought a house with over 10k sqft of lawn using 18 sprinklers in total; Mixture of fixed, rotor and other, all on 2 zones/valves.
    I thought this was weird and you helped confirmed this. I live close to the county irrigation pump station and I must have insane pressure.
    This is gonna suck. 🚧😫🏗⛏😓

    You guys messed up a bit with the editing at about 6:00. You guys point out that the highest pressure loss recorded for a 3/4" meter is 15 psi at 30 gpm, however you guys point to the 5/8" psi loss.

    I’ve been watching lots of residential irrigation videos and must say this is by far the best in both information and presentation! Thank you!!!
    However, That’s a lot of water just to irrigate a lawn. Plus winterize it for those few freezing temps in North Carolina. Maybe an irrigation system for my 4.5K sf lawn isn’t appropriate?

      It’s not hard to winterizing a system. All you do is hook an air pump to the water pump on the system. Open all the zones, and spray out the system I tell nothing but air is coming out of the heads. I love doing irrigation work, came here to learn more about what my boss does designing systems. To help me better understand installs. So that one day I may start my own irrigation business with lawn care ,spring and fall clean ups, possible some hard scaping.

    Just a heads up... at 6:05, the red arrow points to the wrong 15.0 (in the column for 5/8" meter) which equates to 20 GPM (when the narrator says 30 GPM). Had me super-confused for a minute until I realized it.

      @@melaniemackenzie8084 are you talking about regular Drip line like hunter PLD or rainbird copperline? Copperline is supposed to protect against roots. My experience with drip in turf is it works in small areas we put it in the medium between the road and the side walk in new subdivisions. The areas are normally around 35ft by 4 ft. It does a fantastic job there. Course there are no gophers either lol. What area are you in? And yes there aren't that many good options when it comes to trenching for dripline.. I've even seen a chainsaw looking trencher.

    What do you mean count flow rate from the end of the line backwards?

    • @Krain
      @Krain  Рік тому

      My guess is we’re talking about lateral flow. Water delivery devices (rotors, sprays, etc.) are installed on the lateral which is the pipe after the valve. For example: If a lateral pipe has four heads and each head is spraying three gallons per minute, the total flow through that lateral is twelve gallons. If I “count flow rate from the end of the line backwards” the flow rate would drop three gallons per head. End of the line is twelve gallons (all four heads), three heads going backwards would be nine gallons and so on.

      Hello! The first step is to know the PSI at the beginning/point of connection pressure/flow. Then need to deduct for all devices (backflow, valves, pipe type & size and pipe runs(how long).

      Toro actually makes products that I don't love but I would recommend them to somebody on a hard budget if that product was what they picked up... that is saying a lot... Toro needs to stick to tractors... This is not a loyalty thing. I do not believe in brand loyalty I believe in capitalism... what I'm wondering is what's going on with you guys?!? do you not want to participate or are you just comfortable making what you're making? Or is a sister Company making enough to where It just doesn't matter? in that case it's not capitalism... it's corporatism and are just looking out for stockholders over everything else. No company I want to deal with, even if the better product is doing the same thing... sad really.
