- Woodhaven's Walter Steffens was honored as 2017-18 "Man Of The Year" for Woodhaven, Queens, NY. His son Scott Steffens serves in the US Navy overseas and his father misses him. Scott was able to get leave and flew back home for this special occasion. He was hidden until the right moment and the reunion was a touching highlight of a great event hosted by the Woodhaven Residents' Block Association. How is dad look when his son left after hands shaking like please don’t leave me … Dads eyes followed his son. This point the father happy to see his baby , child because he can’t see him a lot like we used to see our families.

I love my Son and two daughters immensely and i love every father who loves his kids too much.
I don't know why I watch these, they always get me everytime. These brave men and women who go to serve, not knowing if they come home, leaving thier families. To often thier bravery becomes blurred in the political arena because of the wars they are asked to fight by politicians (which may not always be just) but they are all heroes and heroines. In the UK, our armed forces sometimes don't get the love they deserve because of Iraq etc, but everyone who has a negative opinion will be thankful individuals like this exist one day. My grandad was on the beaches of Normandy ( he is no longer with us) I tell his great grandchildren (my children) all the time who he never got to meet, that's what bravery looks like. They create a legacy to be proud of. 👏

I've a "child" who serves in the Navy and one who studies in the UK. Thanks to streaming video we get to "see" them almost every week, unless the ship is at sea. We never end a call or a chain of text without saying we love you. Tell them, tell them, tell them. And cry. I cry like a baby sometimes when I'm happy or proud of them.

I'm an 56 year old woman that was very fortunate growing up. I had very loving parents. That said and showed love even while getting disciplined. Gave both kisses goodbye as I was leaving for school one day with a friend. She asked why I gave my Dad a kiss on the lips? There was nothing sexual or incestuous,it was a quick peck. I told my Mom later and she said she had a dirty mind and her parents weren't affectionate with her or her brother. It didn't stop me from doing that. He was my Dad and didn't think that way. He is gone now,but I know where he is and I'll see him again. My Mom just turned 91 and still sassy.
