Congrats Wayne! Thanks a beautiful knife! Thanks for sharing! They had the all black one on your Knife Center link. Never spent $400 with tax on a knife before, but so sweet I had to order it.
I got sooo lucky, they dropped at BHQ went away while I was putting my info cuz it change since I don’t use them as much recently and the one I wanted was gone. Didn’t want the ones left woke up early af to another notification they put a few more up and I tried again for the drop point bang gone but I was able to snag the raw ti reg cf and Bowie. Super super dope. Can’t wait.
I picked up the exact same knife from BHQ. Can't wait to get it in a few days! Retail price is $425, which is understandable given all the production problems Brian had.
I started collecting knives less than two years ago. When I started out $50 seemed like a lot of money for a knife. As my collection and knowledge about knives has grown I have learned to appreciate the value of more expensive knives. I am retired so I have to keep to a reasonable knife budget. I find the sweet spot for quality versus price to be in the $100 to $150 range. I currently have only one knife above $200. All of that being said, the Mini Tempest is one of very few knives in its price range that I would seriously consider buying. It is exactly my taste in knives and is exceptionally beautiful. It’s great to see a grail knife that is at a price point that is not completely out of reach. Great review. Keep them coming.
Retired here too. Started six years ago and have spent way too much money on knives, but just love the hobby. I'm up to over 170 of them. Just wanted to start carrying a knife, got a Rat 1 in aus8 and figured that was that. The mini tempest is a very sweet piece. But if I was in your position, ready to spend $400+, I'd look into a Chris Reeve. I wondered if they were over hyped until I got my first. The talk of the tight tolerances is true.
@@abc456f At the rate I am going I could be up to 170 in six years. My current collection is around 70 including a few fixed blade knives. I have spent more than I would have believed possible when I started but I very much enjoy it. I would love to check out a Chris Reeve and the Sebenza looks like a great choice. Maybe someday.
@@danielcox5849 You'll get there for sure. I'd love to sell off some of my collection, but I find it so difficult to let any of them go. Crazy. Wish you the best in your knife journey!
Got the same one last week and it became my favorite front flipper pretty quick. My only minor issue is that I feel the clip is just a bit too stiff. But overall, it's a gorgeous piece. Love the sound when the lock engages.
Managed to snag a blackout bowie version from a retailer. It will be my first experience with SBD and I THINK with Reate as well! Looking very much forward to it!
Currently have this exact one in hand now, really enjoy it. Debating whether this or the CKF FIF20 is my favorite front flipper. Have 4 CFK FIF20s, and will have 3 Mini Tempests, once I get them all. Waiting on Damasteel version. Also have a few of the T. W. Price Dawn on order. Thinking it might be similar to this one. Excited for that as well.
I was beyond disappointed with my fif2.0. My typhoon blows it outta the water and I gully expect my incoming tempest to also blow it outta the water. It may be the variant of the fif I don't care for. Got the cf bronze version and I just don't care for it. It's gorgeous but it just doesn't feel good in hand and I'm not thrilled with the construction method they used. I think a, full titanium version would have been much better.
WSW ... thanks for the share. I'm not a front flipper fan, but no arguing this is a very well-designed and executed knife. It's going to be on many 'Best of 2022' lists, no doubt.
I'm glad you're loving your grail knife man. It's great to see a fellow knife lover get something truly awesome. Congrats again on getting that beauty. Also check out the we subjugator. I think you will ne happy with the clip. I just ordered one. Pretty pumped about it.
This “just” a knife! This is not a grail knife! It’s affordable and easy enough to get. It’s not rare or above average. Calling this a grail knife was click bait!
Many, many people have started to question the value of Sharp by Design. After all, their website is vague and gives zero information on their company, and leaves a lot of people to wonder their true origin. After all, a China Part knife is worth considerably less than an all US Made knife!
Well to each their own. You obviously don’t follow him on Instagram. His website maybe lacking a little information, but his overall communication is excellent. He provides more updates than most and is very responsive to messages.
@@WaynesSharpWorld How does he produce every single knife in a model , the exact same, without some form of mass production going on? After all, even Benchmade is transparent on their production process, and where they source materials. They admit that a majority of their knife scales and pins are China.
@@roostershooter76 Brian is a regular on the Knife Nutz podcast and UA-cam channel. There's no mystery about where these knives are made. They're designed by Brian and made by Reate in China. Can understand objecting to anything made in China, but as far as manufacturing quality goes, I'd say their only real competition is Shirogorov. Of course Brian also does full customs if you want to pay 2-3x the price.
Ya, I think there's a misunderstanding here. He makes custom knives of his own but also does production runs of his designs through Reate as Wayne mentioned. He's totally transparent about that. Follow him on Instagram.

So happy for you Wayne!
It’s rare to find something so perfect, and your joy is easily audible in this video, so great to watch and listen!
Thanks bro! 👊🏼
Man that is a thing of beauty!
I’m so excited to get mine - still can’t believe I was able to find one.
Congrats bro!! 👊🏼
I grabbed this same variation from BHQ. Really satisfying action!!
just bought one of these in the fully black pvd coating and cf inlay. cant wait
I am kinda mad i bought a new pistol recently. Really don't need to spend another $400 right now but man it is tempting!
Congrats on the pistol though brother. What did ya get?
Not bad! Reminds me somehow of the Fif 20.
This is a beautiful knife. My only issue with it is the inlay carbon fiber up close looks really good but from a distance it looks like camo.
That’s a plus for me 😂
That's a beautiful blade.I wish I could afford one ,it's amazing.
It's definitely a great looking knife! Congratulations on getting it! Great review Wayne 👍
Thanks brotha! 👊🏼

I think my first 400 dollar purchase will be a Stitch. Gonna pass on this for now even though I’m a front flipper fanboy.

@@WaynesSharpWorld I'm looking forward to it. I should probably clarify i was being sarcastic about the clip. I'm going to try the finch thing.
After seeing some of these vids on the mini Tempest I'm slightly regretting not getting the clip point blade as well D'Oh haha
Right! The clip point looks much better than it did in initial renderings. 👌🏼
Snagged one last night. Super excited.
That’s a beauty
There’s probably also locator pins in the back. I would hope it has more then just that one screw for sheer strength
Yes, there is a locator pin in the back. Very solid construction.
Y’all hurry knife center got a few left as of right now.
Great knife but the pocket clip sucks for actual use. Way too much tension and not alot of room.
