Interesting use of the word Rococo. It works nicely as the title. There are lots of textures, layers and descriptive musical ideas- a heartfelt depiction of Sydney and lost love in lyrics and sound.
this is so good. the whole album is. as far as SK’s solo work goes this may be his strongest solo album to date. i know it’s one of my faves at least. great job
I'll be honest, I'm one of those people that only wanted to hear The Church with MWP still in the band, BUT that said, this is insanely good. Bravo! I'm back in.
New Church hasn't been sounding like old Church lately, so I guess this is Steve's answer to those of us who had been crying over Marty. Myself included. Have you heard the rest of the album yet?
@@veloboy yes I pre-ordered the album and its brilliant- The Church have evolved with every album and thats part of the attraction for me - the last album tha Marty was on sounded nothing like earlier Church albums either. I've been a fan since day one, anyone that expects them to keep recreating Milky Way or UnguardedMoment would have been disappointed decades ago. The last thing that SK would be interested in is appeasing MWP fans and its interesting that you think he has evoked the spirit of Marty with an album that doesn't really carry any Marty trademarks sounds or involvement.
I have only listened to this a couple of times but already feel like I've known it all my life. Will get the cd. By the way, release date 23-11-19, as I recall, was a big full moon in Gemini, intended or lucky coincidence? I love it! Peace 🎸
Sydney Rococo remains a firm favourite. Those GE strings introducing the song, SK's vocals, the gentle layers, the hooks. A truly ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ song.
Check out his new song with the Canadian Poet Patrick Woodcock. Enter Steve Kilbey Patrick Woodcock in the search. Brilliant song.
Loved doing this string arrangement for Steve
Love it; So cool.

What a legend! Still writing and playing magnificent music.
This is a beautiful song, but the whole album is wonderful. I love his voice and music.
This is lovely...always love to hear Steve Kilbey's beautiful voice...
if this was released as a church record it would sell millions. this is magnificent.

100% good music. Anyone with partial music knowledge might want to at least listen to this album. This is what music can be.
...and I'm still very impressed. I really love this song even two years later, and I'd love to hear more in this vein.

Very nice. Looking forward to more. Great string sound. Kilbey's vocals still shine.
Incredible Mr Kilbey - the strings are just lush

I'm very impressed. This not only sounds different from The Church, it sounds very different from his other Solo stuff as well.
Steve is the master of vocal

They've had two brilliant albums without him .

last 2 Church albums are fantastic as is the latest Kilbey/Kennedy.
Latest Church album without MWP was excellent too. I thought like you but just listen to it...you will see.
