- Hello everyone,
The time has come to look ant Western Prince D1041 and return this loco back into traffic.
This is a huge project for such a small team so please don’t expect this loco to be hauling trains anytime soon.
It is hoped to have the loco back working at some point but as with all railway items, money is always a battle and actual people to carry out the work so please help where you can.
Check out our Facebook page for further updates.

WOW.. I remember doing some body work on this with Western Dave back in 2010/11 . it will be amazing to see this run again one day .
Thank you for the update :) pleased to see Prince is getting some thorough TLC. These things take time, and it's worth doing properly. Some videos from early 2000s on my channel as well :)
Many thanks for your kind words. These things can’t be rushed and with life commitments things like this go at a slow pace. Prince will return!
It always amazes me how small those engines look compared to the English Electrics to which I’m more accustomed. Keep up the good work chaps, you know it’s worth it!!
These are very small engines but remember they are similar to the Deltic in the sense they are high-speed diesel engines so you get the high HP output.
If your ever at the ELR you much come and look at the engines as the build was years ahead of anything the other manufacturers were producing.
Much easier to work on than any Sulzer or EE lump
Nice one Jonny, WE CAN DO THIS !!! 😊
You do so well you guys looking after them as you do with such a small team, im just one man and ive 15 Vintage lorries to look after and some of them are always needing attention but its nothing compared to these WR Hydraulics.
I was wondering about 'Prince' so its good to see an update and especially the engine side. looking forward to the Diesel Day -and especially the Hymek!
Thanks for this.
I believe they have special care homes for people like us who are clearly mental to spend so much time on these machines.
All the best with your vehicles and hopefully see one of them up at Bury ELR
PLEASE GIVE US A THUMBS UP AND SHARE
Thanks for giving us a look at the westerns progress, awesome machines on power, but with a little looking after and you all seem to do its good to know that you can fix that engine. May i ask is the other one ok, or will that need the Bury groups attention too. Thanks for taking time to show us all whats needed.
Thanks for your reply.
Which other one do you mean? The BHG have four locos under our care which is more than enough.
Work will start on Western Prince however 7076 and 832 both had issues at the last running day so the team will have to work on those before 1041…..AGAIN!
Much respect for all of you're hardwork. A bit of constructive criticism, your words are more important than the music. I found it difficult to hear you.
Please don't be offended as my comment isn't ment to.
Videos are definitely a new thing so thanks for the comment.
Hope you can come and see the locos in real life at the ELR.
@J0nnyGT O yes, I love a Blue Western. I look forward to seeing more from you, lads.
@@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway definitely need as much support as we can get otherwise the locos will become NRM statics
@@J0nnyGT I hear you.
You said 4 Locos to Look after, You have D7076 D832 D9531 D1041 and D9502 You have 5. I don't blame you all for D1041s Journey taking long Coming Back you can do it !!!
D9502 is privately owned so just four for the BHG
@J0nnyGT ah right sorry 😂 I always see it in castlecroft sheds where all the other ones are so I assumed it was
D9502 is at the loco works now. Castlecroft has 7076, 1041 and 832 at the moment.
Check out our facebook page for updates on the locos. Search Bury Hydraulic Group
hi, great video, can you still get the parts for the engine ? good luck
Hi Peter,
You can get some parts from the manufacturer who is now MTU. However these come with an eye-watering pricetag. Luckily these engines were mass produced and we do have a good pool or spares.
We’re currently seeking additional spares for our class 14 Paxman engine. If anyone has information regarding a spare engine, please let us know.
Cheers
Make sure you give us a thumbs up on the video!
@@J0nnyGT sure will, ! have done now
@@petersmith4455 thanks!!!
Was there really any need for the background music? [and especially at the volume at which it was played]. Otherwise, a great vid.
I'm new to these videos so bare with me
