3. Can we use paper clip to secure all the docs or just send them loose in the envelop?

Ironically, this process is still slightly different (from VFS) depending on where you have acquired your naturalization or citizenship i.e. for Australia it has a different checklist and process which took me over 2 days to figure out. The worse part of this is, I had submitted my application by post but it came back as 'Rejected' just because Indian Government had decided to change the process once AGAIN, which poor Google search algorithm couldn't figure out and the forms I sent happened to be outdated (not to mention I had to perform further research and it still cost me $50 in this process). Good luck everyone, this application couldn't be any more complicated that this!

Yes, it's a nightmare. You would think Renunciation process would be easier than actually applying for a Passport.

Try to type this in google, unfortunately, in UA-cam we can't post complete links.
Basically, they change rules every now and then. The last time they changed them were in November 2021 (as far as my knowledge is concerned), as you can see below 👇

For minor, 3 documents needs to be notarized a) parents sworn b) parent authorization c) parent statement that kid has no naturalization certificate. anything else i missed?

Hi, I am reaching out to you in regards to needing assistance with filling out my renunciation form details on the vfs global portal. My concern is when they ask that Do you have minor children, who are/ were citizens of india ? Then I select yes they ask for that children usa passport details but what if he doesn’t have the usa passport as of yet what am I supposed to put in those spaces? Hello, I am doing my mom's Indian passport renunciation procedure. And one of the question is asking "Do you have Minor Children, who are/were Citizens of India?". So my brother he is a minor born in India, but is a US Citizen, so I need to enter his information. It is asking his general information like DOB etc, and then it is asking country and address. So do I enter USA address information or do I enter India's address information? Because his place of birth is India.

If I received US citizenship prior to 2010 and the Indian passport already expired prior to 2010, do I still have to return the expired Indian passport? It is not marked as cancelled, but was never used after becoming a naturalized US citizen. Once I apply for renunciation, will they return the cancelled passport to me ? I would like to keep it. I have a quick question, when filling out the renunciation certificate online, not all the information is displayed. Essentially what i mean is for certain columns in the form, for example like address : it can only hold so much information. After entering the information and when i try to print it out, the information is kind of cut off. Is it normal, is it acceptable? Do i need to use any specific software to fill out the form? Can i print it out and fill it by hand?

My mother is British Protected person passport holder. I applied for her British Citizenship but they want a letter from Indian authorities that she is not and never was a citizen of india nor an oci holder and has never applied for it. I applied for it at high commission of India fro Tanzania but they said they are not allowed to issue such a letter according to citizenship act 1955. What should I do now ?

Hello Suja, VFS added additional steps after "Customer mailing address." showing at 6:41. The next screen captures input for "Renunciation Form" -> "Renunciation View Form" for confirmation -> generate "RENUNCIATION CERTIFICATE" after submission -> it shows up on the screen showing at 6:46 to continue ->> The "Application Summary" page now generates same Reference number unlike it used to generate two separate reference numbers earlier.
Hello Arif.. In the VFS website, under the list of documents required, there are some mandatory documents listed. In that, I see Renunciation Certificate listed in the 3rd row as well as the 8th row. So, which one should we attach? The one that got generated online after payment or the one which we ourselves fill?
@@sowmyagowrishankar After your application submission and payment steps are completed on VFS, you should have received an email from VFS, which should contain the "Renunciation Certificate" as one of the documents. You should use that.
@@arif3012 That one has the name as last name first name without a comma, birth place is also backwards starting with state and then city and also the date format is different. Hence the doubt.

Thia is not a Renunciation process, you exhibited passport surrender process under the wrong title.
I could find where the Digital Photo & Digital Signature is required in the Renunciation process. Is it just a mistake in the CheckList form ?

Yes you should go with the name mentioned in the Indian passport, if you need new name in the renunciation you need to submit name change affidavit along with the application

However renunciation of citizenship in case of India is merely an act of passing information that absolutely shouldn't cost anything. In fact the word "renunciation" is a deceptive word once you accept citizenship of any other country Indian citizenship is lost automatically, it doesn't need any special act of an Indian foreign office or Indian government to formally revoke your citizenship. That is why this renunciation fee is fleecing!
