The medela symphony is THE BEST PUMP EVER. I used it for a whole month every three hours while my son was in the NICU and let me tell you it felt as close to a baby suction as possible!
I actually do not like that pump. I could only get 3oz at most from that pump, but could get 6oz after a feed with my Hygeia Enjoye LBI. Even my Spectra S2 does better.
@@naruto04 me neither! I used it when my twins were born and my boy was in the NICU. My Spectra S2 worked so much better, so I brought my own pump to the hospital for baby #3. The Spectra is more comfortable, more customizable, and gives me more milk output.
I'm planning on pumping at work and was thinking about purchasing the Freestyle. What's your opinion on the Freestyle for pumping at work?! Yay or nay!
I’m starting to have an obsession with pumps too. I have the hygeia enjoye from my insurance. It’s the only one the cover for some reason but I think it is too loud and honestly sounds kinda scary. Then I bought the spectra s2 on a Facebook group. And then I went to wic and they gave me a free medela which is awesome of them🙂
Helen Hines I believe its depends on where you are. I just mentioned I was trying to get my supply up with pumping because my baby wasn’t nursing well and they gave me one.
My insurance sucks and only provided a pure drop expressions pump for free (I believe that's the name) which I looked up and read other moms had experienced nipple trauma and bleeding etc so then all the other pumps had an upgrade charge and I went with the spectra s1 my dad helped me pay for but was 167 so basically only about 40 dollars less than buying it online I think. I spent days researching which pump I felt confident getting and the medela pump in style and freestyle pumps had an upgrade charge below a 100 but I preferred the spectra since it is more customizable (speed and modes) and especially because it is a closed system, a hospital grade pump and has rechargeable batteries. I had a strong gut feeling that it was the one for me lol the fact that it is quieter and portable is better for my anxiety and the baby and don't forget the handle and bottle holder for clumsy women. I feel I will enjoy pumping more with the gentleness of the spectra s1 (also like that people use it when they need a break from the medela because I feel like I will be sensitive) and I've seen some sources say it can be more powerful/stimulating than the medela in their opinion. As a bonus it is not yellow, is visually appealing and has a night light yay haha I am watching these videos for fun now because honestly breast pumps can look so cool.... On another note I remember also considering the motif luna as my competition to the spectra (similar but different) if that matters to you.
Elsa Agðarsdotter it’s so hard to choose pumps sometimes! Have you looked at buying a spectra or Luna second hand? Like maybe someone who just opened the box but never used the pump? Check out the Mercari app and Facebook pump buy/sell/trade groups. I do it a lot to save some money. Best of luck!!
I'm using the symphony rn. I had to rent a pump from the hospital until I can get mine through insurance. I like it but the settings on mine are different from the settings on the one I used at the hospital and that's a little confusing 🤔 not really the machines fault but I think I also have the wrong flange size so pumping is a little uncomfortable but it's alright. I like the machine itself. Maybe you can rent one. Mine is $30 bucks a week. Worth it if you wanna try it to see if you want to buy one
Carlie Flowers if your newly postpartum a little discomfort is normal. But if you wincing or noticing a lot of pain. Definitely get your flanges checked! I did use one in the hospital and noticed it did seem different then the ones you can buy...
You are very enjoyable to watch. I loved the medela as my first pump and I can get a 2nd one through insurance, and am trying to choose another medela vs motif but m edela might be safe
Can you change the bottle colors for the spectra instead of pink like blue or green I’m stuck between medela or spectra this is my first time breast feeding
maleaha white I know it can be hard to choose but I would try the spectra Pump. I’m going to be sharing my review on that pump soon on this channel so stay tuned. But you can use Medela parts with the spectra!
I am a pump junkie as well. I have a collection too. I also hated the lansinoh smart pump. It was so weak and didn’t stimulate me well. I have been dying to try the baby Buddha! I’m jealous lol
How did you end up liking the Motif duo double pump? Im deciding between the duo and spectra s2. Im a first time pumper & I will be pumping at work. Do you have any thoughts?
I have a review on the motif duo! But I really liked it! The spectra is a great pump too and has a lot of options so it’s great for moms who aren’t sure which suction or speed would be best to draw out milk.
Hi Kimberly Ann! Getting ready to order my pump through insurance. I used Medela with my other 2 pregnancies, but am ready to branch out. The Medela Freestyle is what I used most recently but there are SO many more options now! Looking for something very quiet (I will have to pump during conference calls), good pull/empty (I won't have a lot of time, so need it to be quick and efficient), as well as highly portable (at least with the last 2, I pumped on the go a lot, ie in the car. I may also need to travel for business, about once per quarter). Not opposed to ordering one through insurance for home use, and then buying something portable for on the go in case one pump does not meet all these needs. But overwhelmed by the options. What would you recommend?!?
Francesca Gould I know it’s so hard to pick! I have more video reviews on the newer pumps too! That could help you with your choice. But it is hard!!! The spectra s1 or s2 are super super quiet. And so it the sonata. The Luna pump isn’t very quiet but it’s a nice pump through insurance too!
@@KimberlyAnn I heard you say in one of your videos that the Spectra was a bit too "gentle" for you and therefore preferred the Luna over the Spectra. I used a Freestyle previously and got good results with that, but have nothing to compare it to. Maybe my results could have been better? More output or the same output in less time? How would you compare the Spectra and the Luna to the Freestyle? Meanwhile- I can get the Luna for free through insurance, but obviously it is not portable. I think the Sonata is something like $200 or $225 through insurance. Plus it's like 8 lbs and has large dimensions, making it not very portable in my opinion. So maybe a Luna or Spectra for home use. What would you recommend for on the go? (I.e. car pumping especially)
Do you have a video on the freemie cups? I want more information on them since the reviews are mixed. I want to use them with my Motif Luna pump, you think is a good idea? I start working on Monday 😭
My insurance covers medela, spectra s2, and hygeia enjoye....I will have to go back to work after 16weeks of baby being born which pump of the 3 do u think will benefit me the most? I was a stay at home mom with my first so pumping wasnt a big thing only when I needed but this time around I will need to pump and stash and hopefully not mess up my supply and tips I'd appreciate it! I havent heard of hygeia but ot claims to be hospital grade that's how I found ur video...
Kalia Reynolds hey! So glad you found this video :) I haven’t tried the hygeia yet. But I would go with the spectra s2. It’s supper gentle and quiet so you won’t be disturbing anyone at work when you pump. It’s also considered hospital grade and it’s a closed system, meaning milk can’t get into the motor because of the back flow protectors! Best of luck on your pumping journey and congratulations on your baby 👶🏼
Your very blessee with a lot of pumps...I hope I can get even one brand that you have.(since im just using bellababy). STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY with your lo.🥰🥰🥰
I haven’t used the free style yet.... but I’m just starting to use the motif. The motif seems very gentle and you can hack it so you use Medela parts! I’m going to do a full review on it soon. The freestyle as well too. But I would go for the motif 🙂
I have been exclusively pumping since my son was born on Feb 10th. My fiancé thinks I'm crazy for just owning four pumps lol I own the Hygeia, an Evenflo, an Ameda Purely Yours, and the Motif Duo. So far I love my Evenflo for at home and the Motif for portability! So great to see another pump obsessed momma 😂
The medela symphony is THE BEST PUMP EVER. I used it for a whole month every three hours while my son was in the NICU and let me tell you it felt as close to a baby suction as possible!

I used the symphony for four months during my daughters Nicu stay. It worked the same for me as any other Medela pump.

I have the freemie cups I use with my madela and they work wonderful for me. They work better with sports bras imo
Omg I am a pump junkie also and I have 7 kids and just now decided to breastfeed.
How did u get the first pump through insurance?
I use Spectra 9+ and I love it. Do you have to try it?
