You can't animate the Mutavault in response to the upkeep trigger unless you already have 4+ demons. gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=447243
Unfortunately that doesn’t work. It’s an “intervening if”, meaning if you don’t have the 4 different names at the beginning of your upkeep it doesn’t even trigger, and must still have 4 when it resolves. Since you can’t activate Mutavault until after the ability would have triggered, it wouldn’t work.
Seth, if the light is too bright put it off to one side and use another light to individually light your green screen. Video lights are bright but you can get around this. Play with the locations and distances to find a balance.
It would'nt have mattered a lot, but I think your second conspiracy (if not the first!) against tron should have been on zombies. That way you can bring back fulminator mage with relentless dead. Which means your opponent cannot attack anymore and any sac outlet kills tron.
I would’ve probably built around mirror entity. Conspiracy feels more expensive and the workaround you did seems delicate. Edit: I like your deck and you’re a better deck brewer, but I think that mirror entity could’ve been a consideration because splashing into white opens some more opportunities as well.
I tried an all shapeshifter build, but maybe adding just Mirror Entity would be worth it. Having more ways to make everything into Demons would be nice. Plus it's Modern, so its pretty easy to splash if we need to.
@@zacharychanoi7544 Maybe speed doesn't matter as much as I thought. Realistically, this is a turn 6-7 meme deck. Ok, let's raise the meme factor, add a 1-of copy of Arena.
For my deck with Liliana's Contact I used real demons. 3 mana ammits from amonhket (yes they are crocodile demons) Soulcage fiend, Desecration demon, and demonlord of ashmouth(4cmc) as a way to drain life - essence harvest. It's really fun to play, and there is no problem with opponent scooping from huge demons.
Game 1 vs 4 color Kiki, he couldn't do the line you thought because after casting Resto, blinking Witness, getting back calling, he only had 3 land and 4 creatures, which is Chord for 4 (unless I missed something). Kiki is 5 CMC (2RRR) so your opponent did not misplay, he just didn't actually have the line open that you thought he did.
Same thing that happens every time you play with this card: 5 mana, pay 4 draw 4 is a good card for most mono black decks (and some other combinations), but when you waste time/space with cards like Conspiracy you just end up doing more harm than good

So does Liliana's contract trigger at upkeep and check to see if conditions are met or will it only trigger if all conditions are met?
It has an "intervening if clause" so it has to meet the condition when the trigger would happen and when it resolves to work.

Yeah. Maybe we should have. The only issue is it over-writes all of the other creature types, so we wouldn't be able to get the contract killing.
I hope Seth is okay.
Why are there fetchlands in a mono black deck? just wondering
I get the Black Devotion aspect, but doesn't Arcane Adaptation do the same thing as Conspiracy except as a 3 mana Enchantment rather than a 5?
