    Thanks for the walk through. Back in the 80's, before videos, I learned so many sewing skills by using Vogue patterns. V2005 reminds me of those days, sewing for my daughters.

    I'm buying V2010 during the next sale. I've never gone anywhere in my life appropriate for a backless trumpet skirt gown with train, that's never stopped me from making fantasy glamour gowns before.

    Instructions in French are appreciated in Canada too, not just Europe.

      French + English is required in Canada.

      Agreed! I also appreciate the French side as a Canadian, mostly for the centimeters. It's nice to have both inches and cm.

    What a dreamy collection! Vogue is back to fantasy, glamour, femininity and I am there for it! That split-sleeve robe and pleated silk lounge pants are to die for. The dress with the scoop back and bows, that bias cut dress with bias cut lining.... Mymymy! The collar on that flanged blouse is larger than a normal collar - very upscale and luxe. Thestyle lines of that double breasted skirt reminded me of a trench coat so I'd make it in a tan tencil or gaberdine to play off that idea. Think how cute it would look with a matching cropped trench jacket (simplicity had one seceral years ago). All these beautiful suits remind me of the dress code in offices of the 1980's - very nostalgic for that level of style. WELL DONE, VOGUE. WELL DONE, LINDSEY! To answer your question at the end, I collect these because they're beautiful - not because they fit my lifestyle.

    When I was a teen, in the 1900s Vouge used to be the pattern that you'd aspire to. They were top end designer brands, The Individualist brands, Issey Miyake, Yves Saint Laurent etc,and Vintage. I never really saw Vouge as only for rich people but more for people who would want to elevate their sewing skills. People who wanted something different than jusr the mainstream. I feel like they've lost that a little over the years. It's the reason I like KnowMe patterns, because it's different and it offers a challenge.

    Body measurements are listed on the envelope flap at back. It's not that big of an issue. Vogue patterns are convenient for people who may sew for people other than themselves. Maybe those who work in the office environment or have events to attend. We can't all be wearing leggings and tunics.

    • @missdemeanor3524

      I feel like those looks are a lot more versatile than Lindsey realizes. That dress with the low back and bow closures could be shortened and made out of cotton or linen and be a casual summer dress. Those suits are really just separates that match. Why not wear a jacket that matches your skirt or pants? A dressy blouse can be paired with jeans for an elevated, casual style. Wearing flat shoes with a suit instantly makes it more relaxed. I'm digging this collection!!!!

      @missdemeanor3524 Agree with you. I rarely ever use patterns as they are. Honestly, I don't always like the styling either but that does not mean that the pattern itself is not a good one. Granted, I have been sewing for a while and maybe its easier for me. Almost always hack and modify something that doesn't really sit well on me. But that's kind of a given. There is no "perfect" pattern. As everyone is so unique to their shape and form and personal preferences. I'm definitely eyeing V2004 for summer. It's giving me Zimmerman vibes. In like a light cotton voile or viscose. Omit the collar stand as I have a shorter neck. Would wear that to a company picnic or barbecue in a heartbeat. Probably would skip on the heels and go for something lower or flat-a bit more casual. Jackets and blazers are a bit trickier to apply to everyday wardrobe but still imagine it in a check or plaid as a layering piece over a t shirt and jeans. Yes, I would go out to the mall in that.

      body measurements on an envelope are only for the few people who buy paper patterns at a store, I want to know beforehand if that pattern will actually fit me or rather: have a size big enough for me....

    • @yelenalevchuk7802
      @yelenalevchuk7802 6 місяців тому +2

      @_daniela_s if you buy pdf patterns, download body measurement chart from vogue patterns and use that to understand which size category you would use for all your vogue patterns and go from there. Figure out your ease and fit. Alter according to your body type. I do both pdf and paper patterns. I prefer paper patterns as it's all done for me. Don't need to print ot tape anything. The process is the same. Always. For both types of formats.

      You can see the finished garment measurements on the pattern back (on the website). You can see the size chart on the website. You can figure out the ease and fit from those before you buy the pattern. Am I missing something?

    Hi Lindsay! Thank you for this video as for some reason I missed out on this release earlier in the year. I'm smitten with the v2018 suit. It's the perfect pattern dupe to make one of those dramatic Maria Grazia Chiuri Dior suit on a budget. It's super elegant with a modern retro vibe to it. I also love the man's suit with shorts. It'd be perfect for going on vacation on both men and women, very cute!

    The triple ruffle shirt would look so bad on anyone with a bust. I don't think there's anything that could save it.

    • @missdemeanor3524
      @missdemeanor3524 6 місяців тому +4

      Making it out of a sheer fabric so the double layers would provide modesty at the bust and waist but lightness transparency everywhere else. I'm gonna do it! It might turn out to be a wadder, but I've got to try.

      I want to try it but I have big shoulders and a bust so probably won’t look all that great on me. Best for petite ladies is my thought. But it would be great for an all you can eat dining top. Haha.

    The little top with all the ruffles: who wants a ruffle around their waistline? Lots won't want one around their bustline either! I feel like a beer barrel just thinking of wearing it!

    Living in Northern Europe I always need layers, jackets and coats. Either for bicycle commute, lots of walking and public transport. I feel that many of the formal jackets would be great over more casual clothing, dresses, cargos etc. I am seeing move to smarter components around our Lab on the youngest generation. As others have commented, fabric selection radically changes style options. Not to mention the up-cycling odd fabrics with formal patterns that some very clever people on instagram are creating.

    Trying to understand why a skirt and top became a 2 piece dress. I thought the definition of a dress was that it was one piece. And then they introduce a suit as another 2 piece dress? Let’s not overcomplicate it.

    I think the finished garment measurements only is okay - we know our own body measurements and can figure out our own amount of ease that we want. Better than having body measurements only I think.

    2009 is gorgeous! I can picture it in an eyelet, chambray, or light cotton/linen shortened to a midi length for a lovely daywear dress. I will have to wait 6 months until it comes out in Aus but super excited for this one!
    I love love 2005 as well! I’m trying to be more intentional with my sewing and take more time to make really well made garments instead of smashing out a new piece every weekend that is a bit haphazardly sewn together. This pattern will absolutely be on my list

    Size Charts are in a link. Right next to the “Choose Size” drop-down menu is the Size Charts link. It wouldn’t make sense to have customers go to a store to find size charts if they’re buying on line.

    Wow! Vogue is usually my least favorite, but I appreciate the vision here. These are actually very wearable for Vogue. And beautiful! I’m guessing some of the suits could be for wedding season. I noticed the necklines aren’t cut down to the belly button.

    I love the jacket separates in this Vogue Spring collection. To me a nice, stylish jacket looks great with jeans elevating the look from casual to semi dressy. I love the double breasted skirt, the shorter version. I would wear that with different tops/blouses. I'll wait for the sale, hopefully soon. I agree with an earlier comment here that people don't 'dress up' these days anymore. The dress code in my opinion is super casual especially in the office work environment and even on job interviews. I miss the 'dress to impress' days. I like wearing dresses and coordinated pieces to work/church with my heels... no pantyhose though LOL! Often, when I do people have asked me where I'm going? My reply is no place special, I just wanted to dress up today. Nice reviews, I always look forward to visiting with you! Happy sewing!

    Thanks for going through these…love having another perspective (especially on when a pattern is unique or special enough to justify vogue prices). I miss the days of $3.99 at Joann’s!
    I am buying V2010 and V2013. Some silk faille has been marinating in my stash for years waiting for the right gown. V2013 will be perfect for summer daytime gatherings.
    Curious about your comments on garments not fitting your lifestyle and vogue patterns only being for the rich. I felt myself reacting to that and feeling a bit defensive. I love the opportunity to use couture or higher end ready to wear sewing techniques, but I know not everyone sews for the same reasons. Would love to know more about your sewing philosophy!

    The body measurements are on the flap of the pattern envelope. Have you ever bought a Vogue pattern so that you can see their format and their level of directions?
    Vogue 2015 has the classic lines of the Chanel jacket, which a Lot of women find very wearable even in today’s casual wear climate.

    On V2015 (multi-ruffle top) could you do the main body in a lace and then the ruffles in something more opaque? I think it would still be modest enough but the sheerness may give it the breath it needs not to be so busy.
