Is there any reason you choose to shoot the gas can outside the elevator in the finale? It seemed like it was being done off cooldown and I’m unsure if it’s just because it’s free AOE because it’s closest to the car, or if there’s some underlying technology that I don’t know

I think it's to deter any special infected and burn any Commons outside the elevator.
It's the easiest one to get, and it respawns later, so it's not really that big of a waste.
