Congress, you have the power to compel the VA to change from an adversarial process agency. My Disability Claims including Legacy Appeals have taken 17 years. When we signed up and Swore the Oath, two times, all of us gave the US Government a blank check, payable with our death or dismemberment. The Claims process places the burden on us Veterans. I had to hire an Attorney. I had to go through everything in my C-File. I had to do the legwork and research for most of my disabilities. This, along with the ridiculous wait time is unacceptable. We didn't make you wait when we shipped over. We didn't make you wait when we were deployed into hotspots and conflict zones. Veterans: Never, ever sell yourself short. There is a reason why only a few defend our country; it is an extreme act of Duty and Honor. Some Gave All and All Gave Some.
I am a veteran of approximately 10 years, Feb 1979 to Dec 1988. I served in Germany and Italy while on active duty. I saw the USA EUROPE & 7TH Army CDR attracted by terrorists while on his way to work one day. The SETAF CDR kidnapped by terrorists in Vicenza, Italy. But, I did not see combat, nor assigned to a combat area while on active duty. I'm just a Honorable Discharged Army Veteran. Which lobbyist group supporting veterans do I ask for assistance? VFW? Nope. DAV, Nope, not service connected disability, but at the age of 56, I became disabled. Not eligible for the Pact Act, but whiled stationed in Italy, there was a nuclear accident and was in a 'Red Zone' for over 10 days, in an area that the countries of Austria, Switzerland, Italy, along with countries that were at one time in the USSR, have recognized the area as a nuclear fallout area, but not the USA. So, if I have questions concerning my healthcare, who do I call?
