I use mine in my alternative rock band, where I usually keep the decay short and the mix low, ramping up both with the expression pedal for dreamier/solo bits. I always have it on, often with my Gamechanger Light Pedal running into it. It may be that I get away with it because we’re only a three-piece - no keyboards so I want an expansive guitar sound - but it works for me.

Hi, it sounds like a very good solution to use an expression pedal for the Cloudburst. Also that you don't compete with a keyboard player for the available space will be helpful. Thanks for commenting this. I will pin your comment as others might find your way of solving this useful. Cheers!

Use a pick, it will change the dynamics more suitable to playing within an ensemble/band. Many electric guitar players use their fingers ala Jeff Beck but i love the clear cuting dynamic tones of using a pick.

i appreciate you saying what professionals all know: the thing that sells pedals is not thing that often works in a band context.

Yep, agree. It all becomes very mushy when in the full band context. However, sounds incredible when creating those otherworldly, ethereal, ambient soundscapes.

You're right Thor, this is for minimalist Shoegaze stuff.... Happy New Year in advance!

I agree ... it's best on your own ... i used to have a big sky n sold it as it was too big on my pedal board... now i use it purely for reverberation in certain moments with my 2 piece band ... i like an effect on demand and the cloudburst is perfect for that for quiet moments ... i didn't like the menu on either big sky n time line ... i don't think the navigation is intuitive on big sky as a on off like the cloudburst... the shimmer /string switch is the best feature on the cloudburst

This is common with a lot of ambient reverb and delay. It's often just too much in a mix but can be worked it in to parts where there's not as much going on with other instruments. Such an effect probably won't be on very often so it may not make sense to always have it on your board.

depends on style and context, it can definitely work in a full band context.

I agree that the ensamble mode is not good for blues or rock in a band, but the normal reverb mode sounded very good. Would it be too expensive for a normal reverb? Maybe…

It can definitely fit in a band but highly dependent on genre. Not a natural fit for more blues and rock applications.
