I believe that making steven the key to defeating every diamond is bad. Overpowering your protagonist because you made your antagonists to strong is bad writing. I think that the cristal gems should have a training arc. I mean, aquamarine and topaz destroyed them so them training themselves, finding out new tecniques and strengthening overall would be very intresting and anime-like, which, just as you said is where steven universe takes a lot of inspiration from.
Dolardo-Sama maybe fixing corrupted gems could count as a “training” or strengthening arc
Shedinja 345 maybe but I would like a more individual training than that so that the show shows some progress (haha puns) so when the gems go up against more powerful opponents it actually makes sense
Dolardo-Sama I think that there's a different focus on why Steven would be the key: he takes after his mom, but he's more immune to the Gem based attacks than anyone else because he's half human.
Is he completely immune? No. But I think what would make him the key is he needs to learn more about his healing power, because he seemed to do significantly better at healing corruption than Rose Quartz was ever able to.
And what would make him the key against the Diamonds, more than being capable of undoing their greatest attack?
These abilities that Steven uses against the diamonds are all defensive and supportive in nature. He can withstand destabilization from yellow, overcome blue's emotions and counter white's mind powers. However, on the offensive, he can't really do shit. If it comes down to stuff like this, then Steven would be acting as a *shield* for the crystal gems, while they do the heavy lifting.
I doubt it would be as simple as stated in the video, and at least it would likely have Steven use his unique abilities in creative ways unlike some arc in DBZ where a characters wins by virtue of having bigger numbers.
If the final diamond fight doesn’t have all 4 crystal gems fusing together then I’m writing ms sugar a strongly worded letter

Steven is really OP tbh. I don't think that this will happen like this because I just can't see Steven being mean, but it could be a big plot point if he had to make hard choices. I also can't see the Diamond authority collapse but more like them leaving the earth alone. I think there could be a fight but it may end in more of a draw.
Jack AndTheBeanstalk I was just about to say the same thing. I see a draw resulting from Steven giving a speech or talking to the diamonds about the value of all and gems. Sort of like a talk no jutsu.
If Steven truly is capable of defeating the Diamonds they better explain why his powers (that he got from a regular Quartz gem!) exceed the powers of the Creators of gem kind who are like gods.
That means the Diamonds would have to have intentionally created a gem who is more powerful than them.

I see what you mean. But hey, at least he isn't immediately overpowered, right? I think it's still okay writing since they show his ascension from being a bumbling baby boy to a powerful, mature, wise figure who slowly gains a mastery of all these different abilities.

Don't forget about the fact that the body of the Gems are "made of light"(pearl line in "adventures in distorsion). LIGHT ! That could be related to White too! I think that the physic existence (Or just existence) of a Gem is more related than we think to WD
It's also heavily implied that pearl has a relationship in some way to white diamond tho... It stands to reason that since pearl was the one who told steven that gem's bodies are made of light that it'd also stand to reason that pearl has been manipulated to think such a thing or just have a complex that makes her see white diamond as more superior than she actually is. I really like the idea of White Diamond exuding/appearing/being insanely powerful but finding out later that a lot of that power was fabricated, that she isn't as powerful as she comes off and that she could be taken down by-- wait for it... A measly pearl. To continue on this, I was thinking the other day about how amazing a character arc it would be if we got to see Pearl's backstory presumably being under White Diamond transitioning to her taking out White Diamond, likewise I think it would be interesting to have each of the OG Crystal Gems take out 1 diamond each (Garnet vs. Yellow Diamond as foreshadowed as Her vs. Jasper) (Amethyst vs. Blue Diamond to show she's overcome her emotions) since Steven/Rose has already taken down a diamond and there's 3 left.

now I have some old theories and some interesting things that could lead to bigger things.
1. Back when Steven, pearl, and Greg went to empire city during the song where Steven was saying why don't you talk to each other. Greg Steven and pearl resembled the diamonds colors (Pink, Blue, and Yellow) Now you can notice by now there hasn't been much connection between pink and white that had been revealed. So it can be said that pink yellow and blue have a stronger bond. What I'm assuming is that Blue had a deep relationship with pink and yellow was jealous or vice versa. Thus leading to blue being depressed during that will be all during the entire song. Yellow would later feel guilt or is sad for pinks shattering (if she even was).
2. Something interesting I saw during your mother and mine was that when pink was calling yellow and blues help Yellows hand was cast down with what looked to be an angry grip of her hands but not blue?
I think that if sapphire and lapis fused they would have liquid nitrogen powers, freeze and shatter the gem/thing there fighting??

Lars has to be unaffected by Blue Diamond's pathokinesis due to being HUMAN because we also see Greg universe unaffected (although Steven is crying) when Blue visits Earth

Steven is still weak, I highly doubt he can survive a lightning blast or (drowning in)water. They can’t forget he is physical and magical, in logic his heart would either explode or shut down vs a lightning attack from Yellow, or his lungs being overtaken by water from Blue.

Now I'm curious, is one of the diamond going to become a Frieza like characters? Frieza isn't exactly a villain anymore. He is an Antagonist, but he's also sided with Goku during the Universe Survival arc.

Blue Diamond would be the only option for that. Blue & Steven practically want the same thing right now and thats to find out the truth about Pink's shattering. Blue even stopped Yellow on her poofing raid haha. I can totally see Blue and Steven sort of connection like Greg and Blue did. By helping each other they can figure out what really happened to pink. And if any diamond betrayal is involved, aka White, then I highly see Blue sort of either staying neutral and doing nothing in the war, or completely joining steven's side in some shape or form.

So in this case, White Diamond is the White Witch and the other Diamonds is the council. So White D (White Witch)will want to kill/shatter because something happened to her (PD shattering) . Then Steven (Oliver) comes and fights and does the action, but in the end he confronts her but then later then BD and YD (council) turns on her for her turning. It ends with White Diamond and the Crystal Gems win. Notice how each antagonist has plans to destroy the people of Earth for a mistake from before. Also, they’re moral is because someone(s) close to them died.

Ì agree that steven would be the main wild card in that fight but so would the cluster bomb and lapis because he stopped it from blowing up the earth allowing him and lapis to send the cluster to the moon base trapping the daimonds.

Despite Yellow trying to get over Pink's shattering, she is subconsciously hung up on her. When Peridot connected to her in Message received, Yeallow's newest moon base is pink colored. Not sure if anyone pointed this already out, but I thought it would be worth mentioning.

The probability of the Crystal Gems taking down the Diamonds alone is not possible, As peridot describes in “Messaged received “ ‘The diamonds are perfect un-stoppable beings, we were made to serve them”. We can see the barrier between the diamonds and lower-class Gems such as Ruby, Peridot, Pearl, Topaz, Amethyst etc. Although it Is probable, it is likely that it will be the Gems to take them down.
But in Episodes such as “Super watermelon island” We see the Gems shredded by Malachite, a fusion of a Lapis and a quartz (From Earth). They barley manage to take down the unstable fusion with their combined abilities of 4 Gems, 1 of which (sapphire) being quite upperclass. Another example is “I am my mom” The Gems get destroyed by an aquamarine (not made exactly for fighting) and a topaz fusion. Now that is enough evidence for now to are us believe that Gems from the diamonds courts can be incredibly powerful. So these Gems were made to serve the diamonds, often sharing traits to their leaders, but when we combine all these traits together i.e: Blue diamond: Lapis, Aquamarine, Holly blue Agate etc, we really get a firm display on how strong their diamond could be.
Although in the show we see blue diamond lose her ability to even think straight because she mourns about the past and how she “ could have done more” for Pink. I’d say if she were to battle the apparent gems to shatter her fellow diamond, which is the equivalent to her daughter, she would lose it, go absolutely crazy and try with all her might to take out the crystal Gems. I do not think they could simply “talk” to her, because she wouldn’t tolerate hearing the rebels tell her how missing the person they shattered is ok.
Yellow diamond: We have seen enough of her court and enemy based weapons to grasp how powerful this diamond is. So far we have seen; A Topaz fusion, Peridot, Zircon etc. All of these gems hav incredibly high intellect. I do not think she would simply fall into a fit of distress for alexandrite to just come up and poof her. It would be hell of a fight with her ability to out think the gems and destroy them using her gem destabilising electronic powers.
I don’t have much to say about white because we lack so much information we’d need to know. But I do think the power we see displayed by Peridot's limb enhancers and Aquamarines wand/ Hair tie, may be an electronic based power used by no other than white diamond, or even possibly blue.

IF he has to....I would like to see Steven know there are some obstacles that can't be dealt with in passive manners
I think it would be more of a battle of fusions. Because, they can literally just step on all the other gems. I prefer to think it will be them jumping and dodging, fusing left and right to trick them up and attack. Or all the crystal gems fuse into one huge fusion, and overpower the diamonds.

About the Yellow Diamond part. Steven was affected by the destabilizers. He slightly shook and felt uncomfortable. So he would only win if the destabilizers had the same intensity than Yellows full power. But if Yellows powers are more intense he could get spasms. Which would render him unable to fight.
