hi Jason, your demo at the start of the video is excellent! I wanted to know if for you, the bridge pickup should be changed for a better sound? Or does he do the job very well? Do the tuners hold the tuning well? thanks jason!
Thank you! It was this guitar that really inspired me to write the track. The pick ups are quite high output so if you like that kind of sound you should be good, I liked everything about the guitar…. So much so in fact that I returned it and upgraded to the music man version of it, that’s not a knock on the sterling one, I just really fell in love with the shape and feel and wanted to get the full USA version. Video on the channel about it 😁
I actually completely agree with you! I fell completely crazy about this guitar, its shape...I just bought it! thank you jason for your feedback! Hello from France!
Great video man, and i love that you chose to ditch the click baity angle. I just got a Mariposa last week after spending way less on vacation than i was planning. I'm so impressed with it. I normally play mustangs and its been a pretty easy transition. The tone is incredible and I love everything about it, but now I really want the ernie ball music man version.
Haha yes the click bait was a bit much. I’m sorry to have to tell you though, I returned my sterling….. And bought the Music Man version in imperial white and gold. Video coming soon 😁
I clicked when you said you made a mistake buying this guitar, then thought there was a new video when you said you f**** love it, but it’s the same video! You got me to click twice, well done
Haha! Yeah I reconsidered my click baity title and thumbnail, I’ve had some negative feedback from Reddit (I mean… it’s rare you get positive feedback there) and I’m sorta reassessing whether I want to feed into that kind of thing for clicks or if I want to build a following based on honesty and a genuine love of music and instruments and that is really where I want to be. I hate click bait so I don’t really want to be part of the problem.
Honestly I’m not sure as the vid is getting on for a year old and I’ve changed my set up so many times it’s ridiculous but I think I was using a boss GT 1000 core for the amp tones on their fender style amp.
I loved it so much I returned it, traded in 5 other guitars and bought the music man version: ua-cam.com/video/CJQfYZkCglE/v-deo.htmlsi=iXrP1x4RtMaZ33St
Great demo, thanks! I'm surprised by how clean that neck pickup sounds. Usually they're a little muddy for my taste. And the bridge pickup doesn't sound too harsh, either.
I've owned the Music Man Mariposa. I sadly had to sell it when I moved cities, I just grabbed the Sterling on Black Friday sale and it's every bit as good as the Music Man. I would say the Music Man has better tuners, a smoother trem, and the compensated nut but otherwise it plays, feels and sounds the same. Not worth the extra cash imo. This Sterling is too good. But that's the case with their bases too. The Ray 34/35 Stingray basses are so good for the money. This Mariposa and the Cutlass are both probably the best value in the Sterling line.
@@JasonWharton82 I'm pretty serious here!! And thank you Jason for this mind-blowing link-up. Also, your playing interests me quite a bit. Would like to learn more about it/you and your work. I'm a sincere follower
Thank you! If you want to hear more I’ve got loads of vids on the channel but if you go back far enough you’ll find my cover videos, I used to make covers of songs on the channel and moved away from that recently. I also have some guitar play through videos from my old band Kill Winter. Perhaps I’ll do a kinda “about me” video in the future.
@@JasonWharton82 I don't have words to thank you enough. I'm actually planning to document my musical journey in a way somewhat similar, and you've been an inspiration. I've subscribed. Also, would like to keep in touch. Meanwhile, I'm re-brushing up my old playing skills and steadying up to record a video soonish. Good or bad, .. it'll be there. I guess the Journey is the real deal. :)
I’ve wanted one of these for awhile now. Watching this just makes me want it even more.
You probably shouldn’t watch the video where I get the music man version then….😂

He commented today that he had traded in 5 guitars for it!
Your demo song was dope🤝
Thanks, really appreciate that, worked hard on it 🙂!

@@JasonWharton82 Reddit is a toilet full of shit that fell into irrelevance a decade ago. Pay them no mind. You are doing great
Thank you 🙏
Sounds great what was your signal chain? If you said it in the video, I missed it.

Was looking hard at this guotar. I played one at Guitar Center and it was wonderful.

Thank you, yeah the pick ups are surprisingly good in this, they are high output but have a decent amount of high end and clarity.
@@JasonWharton82 Nice, thanks!
Kind of non reverse firebirdy thing going on. Sounds lovely
Yeah it’s definitely taken inspiration from a few other guitars!
Sounds great, looks great..... i want one.
Great guitar and a great price for the quality you get.

What if I got it and put lollar's telecaster style humbuckers in it.
It would probably sound like a killer tele, all the ingredients are there.
Sounds great but I can’t get that shape. Doesn’t do it for me. Prefer the Sabers!
Definitely a marmite look for sure!
Good video
Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated!
That's going to be hard to find a case for 😂😂😂 it sounds great though tbf
Haha yeah, I’ll just be gig bagging it most of the time if it needs to leave the house.
The body is smallish so might get away with a fender non moulded hard case.
Decent bit of kit is that
Safe to say I've really been enjoying playing it!
did you use amp sims/ plugins for this vid?
Yes, the boss GT1000 core for the amp but all the drive sounds were from pedals into the GT1000.
Bro you just made me order another guitar. This one's a beautiful lady.
Haha! Music Man should be paying me commission! Enjoy it, I’m confident you will find it to be an excellent axe!
