I think this song might be a letter from BABYMETAL to the fans. They are aware that some of us are having difficulties adjusting to their new direction, so they are asking us for a leap of faith. Some sort of change was inevitable, so we should give them a chance to prove that they are still making great music worthy of our love.
One of the weaker ones? In your opinion, of course. This is definitely one of my favorites from the new album alongside "Mirror Mirror". According to Su-metal, the song was written and recorded around 2018. So it's very possible it's about the criticism they got during that era. Here is the translation of that part of the interview in PMC vol. 27, thanks to funnytoss as always: "SU-METAL: This is the first song on an album released in Japan that has lyrics entirely in English. I mentioned earlier that English lyrics express a different personality, and it’s the same for this song’s message. It’s from someone else’s point of view, and is about the fact that you don’t see the same thing that others see. I think expressing this in English is quite interesting, and fits well with the concept of THE OTHER ONE, which is another world of BABYMETAL. This song was actually both written and recorded about 5 years ago. If you listen to it carefully, you can still hear a more childish voice, and it’s a collaboration between our past and present selves"
They are speaking to the fanbase that want them to stay how they were and have Yuimetal rejoin the band, I think "there's no safe space" refers to online platforms where most of the criticism takes place. "God" is the fox god, or Koba, in other words just trust him he knows what he is doing. "There is no middle ground" says sorry we can't make you happy and still do what we want to do. That is what the song says to me. Musically, I love it, heavy but with complexity cool drum patterns and beautiful vocals and harmonies. The production is cool with great separation so it is easy to hear exactly what is going on. It is my favorite of the album. Interesting this song follows Time Wave, Where they tell us to "Feel it" and just to "Wait a minute"
Believing, imo, epitomizes what BabyMetal has decided to do after their brief hiatus. They are still BabyMetal but moving forward because their aren’t the same.
Having listened to the album a fair bit now, I think Believing might be my favourite song from TOO. I normally don't like heavy vocal effects, but it really works on this one. Regarding the lyrics, I think they are quite pointedly directed at fans and ex-fans who say they have 'changed too much'. They are very clearly saying, "Yes, we changed. We had to change, and while change is scary it's also necessary, but please don't give up on us. We believe in you, so believe in us." To me, it's an appeal to the fans and former fans to accept that Babymetal isn't what it was and to embrace what they are becoming and to come along for the journey. I think that's an important and necessary thing for them to say in light of some of the recent commentary around the direction of the band and it's makeup.
The seasons change.
You are not the same.
The seasons change.
We are not the same.
Don’t go back.
YuppeMetal in da house.🦊🤘🔥
only all English song on the album and I think YuppeMetal captured the ladies feelings quite well, they can't go back to the way they were.

Another great track on this album ... and I get the same sort of meaning from it as described by CZseventyfive.
