Disappointing by the ref. Clearly should have been a retake of the the penalty. Players are moving. Disappointment and bad luck

Sorry to say it but refs are supposed to know the Laws. That overtime kick should have been repeated ten meters closer to the post for clean and obvious French infringement of Law 20.

a prescindere dalla squadra tifata, questi giocatori (rispetto ai calciatori) danno molto di più per molto meno... al netto di qualche polemica, non è difficile stimarli (sia quelli per cui si tifa, sia gli avversari), stimarsi e mischiarsi in tribuna e fuori

They didn't even pause/reset the shot clock so Garbisi only had some 10 seconds to set the ball, line himself up and take the kick. This was a robbery. I hope Italy go on to beat Wales and perhaps even Scotland
Yeah i was surprises too. French shouldn't charge and réf should have Say something but thé Italians just accept that and didn't protest. I know it's rugby and you don't go against ref décision but at this moment we would understand (and i'm french)

I’m French, and what did we do ? Nothing, it’s not our fault if the ref is bad. But that match is a humiliation for us, our team is SOO BAD. That’s what happen when the best player in the world and the staff leave the team.

Refrees incompetence negate the second victory to Italy (the first one was against England that won with a double movement try of Mitchell).

This time i fully agree with you. It's starting to become a farce. I think this is by far the worst officiated 6 Nations in history and round 4 hasn't even started.

@@ueeemonna It have anything to do with it. Without refrees mistakes Italy today will have 7 points and 2 victories (vs England and France) being 2nd in 6N today and people would have talked of a "rugby renaissance" of Italy.

Improvement aso comes with good results as it hep the morale. So I agree, the Italians are very unlucky.
Speaking for a lot of French fans here :
- Did France deserve to lose against Scotland and Italy : absolutely, both games were appalling and the refs really screwed it up, most of us are ashamed that we ended up not losing.
- Were there some questionable ref decisions made during the RWC quarter final : also yes. Both facts are not mutually exclusive.
It's hard to accuse us of being unfair about the performance of our team, we know we only get a pass for the last two games thanks to overly dubious refereeing and we hate it because we're a proud people and there's no honor in getting through like that.
International rugby will gladly acknowledge the first point like everyone else. But never the 2nd point. They're just 'whiny'.
French and i'm sad for Italy i really thought they would play again the kick. It's a shame!

The Italian team should have done more on the pitch to ask for the shot clock to be re-started or for the retake. I am sure that more experienced international teams would have done so. Teams such as SA, NZ, England and the like would have known.

I agree, but the decision must come from the referee, its a clear infringement and he should of made the call. its a slippery slope if its up to the players to now try and enforce the laws

@@morgandunn8163 I love how our lost last year against Ireland last year on a try by their winger who had a foot off-field, or Safa with a steal with both hands on ground have been treated differently
All those situations are just referee decisions that should have gone the other way. The only difference for us is that for last year bad calls, it prevented us to win or go further in tournemants whereas for this year, we had nothing to win.
We do not enjoy winning (or not losing) this ugly. We feel for Italian or Scottish especialy because it prevented them to accomplish things in this tournemant. But again, this year, we had nothing to win.
So earing guys like you who didn't care for last year bad calls, crying for this year bad calls... it just confirm that strangely, peaple from countrys that have been (or are still) colonised by english, share a french-bashing cultur with their (ex-)colonizer. And I don't care about biased opinion or feeling of their owner

A player was kicked out of the game for arguably not even making contact head-to-head, but then a decisive penalty has players running at the ball, a waterboy in the field and no retake? What are these refs and TMO even doing? They either overexaggerate calls or completely miss them.

If we do not want Rugby to become as football (and we do not!) referees must improve in homogeneity of their decisions. In addiction to te efinal kick, which is a referee mistake , ok, but is a mistake, it is striking the difference in judgement between the french try and the Scotts non-try of two weeks ago...

I'm italian and I'm absolutely proud that even though they literally stole the game from us, no one is complaining and there are no controversies. The referee is part of the game, he can also make mistakes. It's one of the reasons I love this sport above all others
Ok and we all respect the fact that in rugby referees are sacred. But when mistakes turn into incompetence you have to ask yourself questions. It's becoming a farce.

what I found surprising was that Andre Dupont one of the best players in the world was in Vancouver at the Rugby 7s tournament, his talent and leadership was sorely missed by France

Very simple. There was no France try (forward and/or double movement, apart from the fact that you can't see if the ball touches the ground...). And then Garbisi's final kick had to be repeated!!!
The fact that you can't see the grounding actually works in France's favour. It's the opposite of the Scotland case. The on-field decision was "try", so TMO would have needed overwhelming evidence that the ball was not grounded to overturn it.
I'm not arguing about the kick at the end btw, that absolutely should have been retaken.

Italy went close to the miracle! The pole of Garbisi was a huge shame! Capuozzo was great and he did a try against France, his dream to win against France as a person who was born in France but who has italian origins vanished unfortunately! 😭 Anyway the score was incredible the same! He's my cousin, I'm not joking! His grandfather is my grandmother's cousin and he was born in Napoli then and he went to Grenoble when he was still a kid!

As an Italian supporter I am broken by this loss. That french "try" was complete B.S. Imagine the reaction of the Scott's after their winning try was called back for far less than this butchery. So this is the team that "deserved" to win the world cup...
They're out there moaning about Kolbe charging down a conversion (which is allowed no matter what your stance on it was) yet here France are charging down penalties which are not allowed and they want to talk cheating. Not even getting punishment for it. Hypocritical at its best.

"Fabien Galthie cannot believe what he is watching" - well, neither can I. The same guy turned a team lacking belief and confidence into a legit WC contender, Grand Slam winner and now they are back to square one. Watching the faces during the anthems one could tell the Italians knew what they came for, while the French were scared that they might fail.
I know France are missing half of their starting pack plus the best playmaking tandem in the sport but with such pool they just ought to be good.

I'm a France fan and I really hate to say this but I think that French team record in this 6N should be 0-3, Italy and Scotland deserved the W. The French felt the ref screwed France up in the 2023 quarter-final but now, the ref favoured France in the last two games so "bad" refereering can affect any nations.

I have lots to say. Starting with France's try. Wether it's a try or not is hard to decide, but if u dissallow a very similar try scored by Scotland, that means that try must be disallowed as well. Moving on to the worst part, the kick. French players moving around the pitch, some charging down the penalty, even a water boy put there for distraction, the ball falling off the tea and no effort by the ref to stop the clock or do something about it. This was absolutely DISGUSTING refereeing. Penalty that should have been retaken and moved forward 10. I agree that Italian players could have protested a bit more but overall it's the ref who should know the laws! Absolutely disgraceful tactics by the French as well. Please, we don't want rugby to become like football 🙏🙏🙏. Do you agree with me? 👇

Games are way too much influenced by refereeing, they shall do somethhing, so much technology and so poor decisions, that are based on quibbles instead of intelligence. I am more disappointed by the way the first try was given then the kick, because there is no way the ref could have guessed a grounding, he should not, with tmo and so, call a try in the first place. Garbisi should have point to the ref about any french illegal distraction. The ref should have make the count restart (as Owen suggested) in any case

A lot is being say about this last penalty attempt. Ref is part of the game and I would be devastated as an Italian. That being said too many handling errors and mistake during the second half by Italy whe they should have taken the lead at 15 men against 14. Same as France during first half with at least 3 or 4 try opportunities given away. At the end the draw seems like a faire result given the content of the game. And this content was fucking poor..
Rugby games are so biased by referring. It’s unacceptable, unwatchable. How come at the end Italy has lost this game ( am french) first try ( remember against 🎉Scotland and almost all of international games actually) and then the penalty. Refs can chose who literally and everybody applauses….what is the point for the sport then

No need for "mens" in the title. It's the six nations. In fact it is "open" as most sports are; theres no woman good enough to make it into the side. Not a lot of people realise this: there's no gender criterium in this competition unlike the women's game,
I'm gonna stop watching rugby union (xv) and start watching rugby league (xiii) , cause union is just getting more boring and boring to watch...
Too many rules that stop the flow of the game, it's too complicated, even the refs have a hard time getting everything right , and it's a good thing they don't because there are so many fucking rules that you could easily penalize any action for whatever reason.
