  • Learn to use simple, inexpensive tools to add stunning marble effects to fluid paintings. No silicone or torch needed.

    I thank you in advance for wanting to keep this channel going. It means a lot to me.
    For this painting I used Artist’s Loft Flow Acrylic paint, and a couple of craft paints from DecoArt... but ANY paint will work. .
    This is my formula for all the paint:
    --- 1 part paint to 5 parts Floetrol (but 2 parts paint to 5 parts Floetrol works well too)
    --- There is no silicone or other additive in this painting.
    --- I then add a little water if necessary to get my paint to be the consistency of really warm honey, or like heavy cream. The amount of water will depend on the type of acrylic paint you used ... Flow acrylic (runny like house paint) will need very little water if any, while medium to heavy body paint (thick like toothpaste) will need more water. Try to limit the amount of water that you use ... too much will break down the binding properties of the acrylic paint. How much is too much? Try to keep the amount of water under 50% of the amount of paint.
    Thank you in advance for watching the videos, sharing them, commenting and leaving a thumbs up. Your kindness helps my channel continue and it is all greatly appreciated! May the alcohol inks, resin, and paints be kind, and may the pours be with you. 😊💕

    I love marbling, was wondering if anyone was going to use it with the fluid painting. Lucky me, I have lots of marbling tools that I can use.

      Ha... That made me giggle out loud!! 😄 I'm sure my friends get nervous when I start looking at their things with that quizzical look (which we know equals "hmmm, I wonder if I can stick THAT in the paint!!??"😂) Thanks for that Cyndi!

    OMG you are doing things that I have thought of with paint movement... I'm so glad to see them....Especially the squiggles. I love scarf marbling, And you are a Pinhead Genius! I think the ball heads will be good for helping drag paint along - marbling within marbling

    I loved the effects these new tools will bring to the canvas. I kept cringing when you would put one to your tile because I kept thinking it was going to be like chalk screeching on a chalkboard. lol and it finally did screech on the bouquet tool lol . Lots of great education we seem to get from you.

      Awww thank you Parker... I'm so happy to know the videos are useful. Sorry about the screech... I didn't notice (I'd have edited out the sound). I'm glad it was only on the one tool.😄😉

    Loved this and tried it right away. Upon drying, much of the design moved☹️ Just too much paint?

    • @MyriamsNature
      @MyriamsNature  7 років тому +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed it Victoria.😊💕 About the moving paint, a couple of things could be responsible: If the design got blurry and seemed to expand, then the paints had different densities... Adjusting the mix of the "misbehaving" color(s) will help. If the design stayed crisp for the entire time you were working on it but then collapsed much later, the paint might have been too thin. If the paint shifted to one side or another I would think the canvas needs to be on a more level surface. Those are the first things that come to mind without better understanding HOW it moved. I hope that helps.

    When I first started seeing fluid painting I thought of the beautiful scarves that are made by raking through the paint ; there are similar styles in nail artistry and so being an ex-beautician, using a pick was a no brainer... so 2 and 2 makes 4... And :
    I'm ready to make some art
    but can't get a start...
    I need a job, dag nab it,
    to feed my habit;
    I lack the paints, the canvas...
    And aught to pay for all o' this!
    I feel the need to create...
    for Posterity's sake!
    P.S. third verse is new, edited in, complete with archaic word meaning "anything at all". Explanation is for those who thought I misspelled ought. Ought is certainly a word that would fit because I certainly should pay for these things. Could you imagine a handicapped person doing a smash and grab for art supplies to feed their habit as a doper would steal stereos and dash to feed theirs?

      @@MyriamsNature Bless you. Thank you. I added another verse, now the third, here goes:
      I am ready to make some art
      but can't get a start ;
      I need a job, dag nab it,
      to feed my habit;
      I lack the paints, the canvas...
      And aught, to pay for all o'this;
      I feel a need to create...
      for Posterity's sake!
      **If you are of a mind, revisit my other post...I edited the poem there for other readers of comment and explaining the archaic "aught" for those who don't know it, who may think I misspelled, and, as whim took me, I elaborated...

    There is that about fluid painting that harkens to paste paper painting, that I used to do with my nivlings. Paste papers -- a grown up form of finger painting -- has much in common with fluid painting and pouring.... so from those explorations I gather lots of mark making tools including forks, picks, combs and my favorite -- a tri comb used for texture from the world of ceramics.This is like mine: goo.gl/vtQ8kF or at amazon:goo.gl/D3TrLA but the hardware store paint department may have these too...Thanks as always for sharing the joy of discovery!
