Emily you have incredible memory to remember your different cues for left and right (e.g. wave and bye or spin and twirl). I can’t even remember which way my Border Collie’s spin is so it definitely is sometimes clockwise and other times anti clockwise. I might need to note it down somewhere (:
I love this tutorial! It’s really great to see Halo learning and watching you break the trick down and troubleshoot. I loved Halo’s sneaky “be cool” between celebrates. He must like that one!

Yeah hehe. I wondered if anyone would notice him doing the be cool trick :) It is helpful when the dogs have different markings on the left or right side. Otherwise I just imagine the trick on my left or right side. So if the dog is in front of me, to spin clockwise I imagine the dog can do that when on the right heel position and the cue for the spin on the right is Spin, and when the dog goes anticlockwise while in front, I imagine the dog on my left side and the left side is Twirl. That said, if I say the wrong way, the dogs always go the way I want so I am sure I am doing something with my body lol

my dog started doing this at 1 moth. I was trying to see if other dogs do it. it's a dachshund it sits on its hind legs that puts both of its paws together and then furiously waves. For attention or if she wants something. It's super cute I never taught her how to do this
Hi Emily. I love ❤️ the way you train. So fun, positive, creative and you can just see the love you have for your dogs and visa versa. I watched pretty much all your videos trained my Labrador to do a lot of tricks and obedience. I am stumped though with cover your nose. I trained it way back when he was a puppy but even though he knew sit pretty he ended up covering his nose when lying down. He is now 3 and I want to revisit this trick but have him sitting to do it. I know I have to start from scratch and rebuild but can’t get him to get paw close enough up to nose to Mark it. Have tried tape, hair band over nose etc. Even paw touch and hand target he knows. Stumped. Cover nose in a lying down position makes him too vulnerable if out for walk and then doing tricks for passerby kids who are hesitant of dogs. Suggestions?

Kiko is in the bed behind me in the video. Shes 15, deaf and almost blind. I cant do training videos with her, I just do physical therapy stuff with her walks and sitting on the couch together. Halo and Epic are the young ones so more active but the rest are very easy and happy to snooze all day between walks training and meals

Where do you get your Borders from? I have one and then a mixed breed. I would love to find another Collie with the same energy level so my Zoe will leave Lucy alone.

Weirdly it used to be wish who liked to be under the couch but now its always Halo... The couch has a box frame so underneath its quite roomy, I guess its like a cave for the dogs.
hmm. My dog learned this trivck all by herself... have no idea how, but she can sit for a long time waving continuously for up to a minute
If only my husky weren't so stubborn. We've mastered 'sit'.... but when she feels like listening and if a treat is involved. 🥴
