Clippy wasn't the only virtual assistant Microsoft made, there was actually an entire cast of offbeat characters you could select if you fiddled around in the settings, including a cat, dog, robot, dot, planet earth, Microsoft logo, and others, it's kinda sad they're forgotten.

And now there are plugins to use ChaGPT while programming! You start writing code and it suggests what to write next, you ask for a piece of code by describing the functionality and it just... gives you code.
Chat GPT is insane. I’m a heavy machinery mechanic. I decided to quiz it on a bunch of random technical questions. It’s legitimately insane how correct and convincing it is without being to specific. Since it can’t know exactly what I’m talking about and search manufacturer service manuals for specific answers… at least so far. It is crazy.
The other use cases seem pretty great, but I think adding text generation to word might make them lose a lot of their support from schools or universities, which makes up a decent amount of Office 365 users

I'm at one of the most expensive schools in the world, so I have no delusions that they are not in it for the money. But I'm also not idiotic enough to think they're just OK with people cheating. If people cheat, they pump out unprepared and not-as-qualified students. If they do that, then they will lose their reputation for being one of the best schools in the world, which means students won't want to come anymore, which means they won't have that tuition coming in. This is like 1+1 level math here, not trigonometry.

There’s something similar to Apple’s spotlight in the Bèta of Windows when you install certain updates from their website (it’s a little complicated and requires a few commands) but it works pretty well! Though not as good as Apple’s spotlight search
@mkbhd it’s already there in enterprise version. Copilot can scan your teams, outlook, azure, sharepoint, onedrive, git and give you comprehensive answers based upon what data you have access to. It has integrated AI in word excel ppt outlook and teams.
Having ChatGPT be connected to Excel could be so amazing to have. Imagine asking it to create so many UI, equation, and other functional modifications for you. Could be so useful!
Bing chat has actually been pretty good. It’s been way more enjoyable that google search. You get what you want answered in a human like way. It also includes link to its sources for the information. It’s not perfect as it sometimes references advertising or marketing as references so just be aware of that. Yeah have animated avatars for Bing chat would be cool. Bring back Clippy is a great idea. Having a bunch of avatars available for Bing Chat would be epic. Don’t forget about Cortana, a Cortana avatar for Bing chat would be the Waifu some people were waiting for all this time. 😂
If Microsoft can actually make Outlook work properly and crash less that would be good enough. But definitely bring back Clippy. I 100% support bringing back Clippy.

That is huge! Being able to ask questions about your own documents, and receiving intelligent answers are extremely helpful, especially when the file is like a few hundred pages long. This will be the first real innovation from Microsoft since 1995.
TBH Cortana 5 years ago was a better pocket assistant than Google, siri, and Alexa are today. You could say, "hey Cortana, remind me to floss when I get home" and once you got home, you got a notification to floss. Try that w8th Google now. It sets 'a reminder to floss when you get home' then asks you when yo set the reminder.
