- Marin County wants dozens of so-called anchor outs living in the middle of Richardson Bay to move back to dry land within the next three years. Brian Hackney reports. (2-9-23)
These places refused to do a single thing about affordable housing… Then, when people figure out their own solutions, the government steps in and shuts you down without providing an alternative.
No one has a right to live there. If you can't afford it, find somewhere you can afford.
@@mrsleep0000 easier said than done

For everyone saying his sewage goes into the bay : I live on a boat in Richardson Bay. You are allowed to pump grey water close to shore and for black water a pump out boat takes it for you or you go 3 miles off shore and dump it.
This is simply evil.
Did Tom Hanks grow up in Richardson Bay???? Some of his youth?
And NO senior citizens in this country should EVER EVER be homeless. This man deserves free rent. We do not honor our elders in this country if we allow them to be homeless.
Leave them alone. I'm sure the eel grass will be just fine.
Really?
Where does his sewage go ?
in a black tank which then is put in a bucket and then dumped in a toilet on land. DUH. SO YEAH REALLY GET OVER IT @@muskepticsometimes9133
@@muskepticsometimes9133 where all ship sewage goes I would imagine? They have containers that can be emptied by waste management companies on the shore you know. I mean how do you think cruise ships manage waste?
@@muskepticsometimes9133 Same place it's always been going, of course, how about sewage treatment plants (you know like the ones the complainers use) for the waste to get collected and treated?
Back in the day day, it had to be a great life up there...many artists lived there and it was cheap too. Gotta miss those days
Marin always trying to ruin someone’s day
No kizz 💯
Some of these families have been there for generations, one couple interviewed was the 4th living there. But the area nearby became fashionable, so let's move the riffraff to tents in some out of sight dry wasteland, so our view is nicer. Then they can contemplate on how leaving tribes and others living in huts in S & C America without roads, schools, hospitals, clean water, etc. is preserving their way of life, and protecting the environment.
How long has this story been going on?
It mush have been a decade at this point!
I remember when they were begging the old lady that lived on her slab house to go and then she eventually croaked
If I leave my slip and drop anchor on Richardson Bay, do you suppose I could apply for one of those cash vouchers?
Let them live theyre lives, just cause many people struggle to pay ridiculously high rent doesn't mean everone else should be a person to. These people with multi generational wealth (boomers mostly) telling other people how to live is wrong, they are so out of touch, its really not sad when tragic things happen to them
Home sweet home...
Rich people in Marin want these peasants out
they make Marin look like Cuba
The peasants want you gone more, believe me.
@@warrenstringham415 The USA had a lot to do with that too, ignorant
And the sewage goes where, exactly?
pump out boats you turd
The water where all sewage goes
Well into the bay. It dissolves and gets eaten by fish mostly. The main pollution source is the million that go somewhere you probably would not want to know.
@@poche660 Oh ! Wait! I DO want to know. Enquiring minds, and all that...
Where DOES it go?
I mean it's also very much possible to just have a waste container system, and get it emptied by waste management companies on the shore. Like cruise ships are a thing people. You think a mere house boat creates more waste than a ship the size of a small city routinely carrying literally hundreds of people in a day??? Hell, there are fancy cruise ships where that number goes to thousands. Icon of the Seas for example has the passenger capacity of 7,600, with 2,350 crew members. Which means nearly ten thousand people at a time. So you really think a family of five or so, can't figure out a proper waste management system for a boat the size of a house?
That means feces on the sidewalk instead of floating in the water
AGAIN?! They need to STOP THIS‼️
Just get a slip in a marina.
@@Balthorium Just get a life
just take the boats to open Seas. theres a anime about ppl living on large interconnected barges... im sure a Entire Civilian made Nation of Houseboats would be neat to see
His sewage goes into bay probly

Where does his poop go?
in a tank, then a pump out boat then the sewer just like yours. Where do all the fishes poop go?
""So Called"" Anchor Out's? Really?
he hasn't had to pay any rent / mortgage since 1972? wow, what a windfall! i can't feel too sorry for him if he gets removed to land.
Ya everyone should be dragged down to the depths huh?
His move and that housing voucher is on your tax dollar
@@MoonChild-po9duthe RBRA uses hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars to illegal seize peoples property and destroy it at the Army Corp of Engineers in Sausalito. The harbormaster is paid hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars to harass hardly be around and go to nearbye Tiburon yacht club to wine and dine (on the taxpayer dime write off too). People on the water are self reliant asking for nothing but not to be destroyed and to be treated as a mariner and have some dialogue. RBRA bosses constantly change the rules without dialogue and don't offer mooring fee options. Just want to wipe out the centuries old history and make it like Ft Lauderdale anchored yachts only. On federal waters lol
Ain't no free ride in rich man land. Move to Ohio.
The land under the marinas are private. These people are squatters on public land farther out. They have as much right to do what they’re doing as I do camping permanently in Muir Woods. These freeloaders need to get a slip in a marina. No one is being forced onto land. Just pay for a slip.
I wonder what they would do if I pulled up next to them and started living there rent free?
You want to be at a marina full of yuppies with old money?

There are little to no availability and no one owns the water. Are you another entitled trust funder sir?
@@ronaldmcdonald3965 Ronald McDonald no one would care. You would just have to deal with the Mafia arm of the RBRA like everyone else.
I hate doing what I don't want to, to provide what I don't want, just to struggle surviving only to rent: while he's an artist doing what I do, but I have to safeguard personal online social media proofs and interact with parasites, just to remain in-the-public-eye, in the outhouses of boomer-galleries; success gauged by head-pats and off-hand-encouragements; Maximum INDIFFERENCE!!!
