Rocket Powered Fidget Spinner

Join the science discord! / discord Ok thats it, Fidget Spinner trend is over, cause this is the best one ever!! ;) I built a custom fidget spinner out of 1/4in aluminum plate and strapped 3 E sized rocket engines.
Really, I just wanted to do this. I saw Stephens video and needed answers. Plus, this gave me an excuse to buy a Plasma Cutter ive been eyeballing for yearssss. (dont tell sandra I could have made this with a jigsaw..)
The spinner has a 6 inch radius, so it travels ~37 inches to make a full circle. Its spinning 88 times per second (5200 per minute), so that means the tip is traveling 276 feet per second, or 188.182 MPH. so yeah, 1000mph fidget spinner is pretty much impossible... Who will accept my challenge?

Nice video, since the burned gun powder is less weight than the un burned gun powder, I think if you made inserts for the rockets that allows each rocket to rotate, then the heavier unburned gunpowder will roll towards the outside which should increase the longevity of the burn.

The reason why the spinner may not have last long is that it is spinning so fast, it builds up a lot of friction thus causing the bearing to heat up and slows down the bearing.

For maximum spin time, you should try using a booster version of the engine (like the E12-0, or even the F15-0 if you want even more oomph!). I saw the ejection charges go off, which probably slowed it down some.

Would you consider doing this at night with some long exposure photography? An 8-10 second exposure at F/5 to F/8 might be a good starting point. Perhaps mount it on a horizontal axis (or vary it however you'd like) near some structures and capture the shower of embers bouncing off of everything.

you need to revisit this one and instead of just using some small clamps to hold the engines, take a metal tube and make it so that the engine fits the tube as well as possible and this way you can make it so there is only 1 exit for ALL combusted material to exit from. No idea how it would react but I would bet it would be spectacular lol

If you made one out of steel and used powerful magnetic fields, you could get it to move as fast as the metal would allow since the only resistance would be the air around it. This might be beyond your scope in terms of budget, but it would be neat to see if you could spin one up so fast that it would ignite the air around it. As long as it stays centered in a field, you wouldn't want something like that flying off.
