DJI Tello Drone How To Extend Range With Xiaomi WIFI Repeater 2

- In the DJI Tello FB Group, a lot of people are figuring out ways to extend their Tello toy drone. One of which is extending the range using a wifi repeater. This won't extend the height but rather than length.

We got the XIAOMI My WIFI repeater 2 usb stick. This uses USB power. The benefit is that you can simply plug this to a power source like a battery bank when in the field. So we need the Mi home app on your smartphone to program the repeater to automatically connect to a source which in this case is our drone.
Think of this are having your internet router in the basement and you want to get wifi in the backyard. You would use this repeater to extend the signal from your kitchen or dining room so that the signal is extended into the backyard.
What's important here.
1. change the wifi SSID name /password on the drone.
2. connect to the drone using the new ssis with your smartphone
3. use the Mi home app to connect to the done
4. let it program itself ( solid blue light is good)
5. use your smartphone to connect to the new access point that the repeater created.

Roughly how much extra range do you get through this method?
Thank you, your video helped. I had a hard time finding the WiFi range extender. Until I changed my region setting to mainland china. I did that after I setup my email inside their app.
Will this help in the woods or forest? I was in Oregon and wanted to us my drone dji min 2 but many places I was not about to use because of lose signal/ connectivity. Is this the device that will fix all that problem?
I'm on Android an the app Mi Home doesn't look the same. I only work if the wifi source (here the drone) is connected to internet.

when i am trying to connect to the drine with repeaterr at say Faild to connect faiiled to authenticate the devic and information at 50% how to fix this. i hav reset it still didnt work
On iOS it requires the drone Wi-Fi to have a password after the newest update and my drone doesn’t have a password? Do you know how I can get it to work on iOS? Thanks.

My Xiaomi Mi Wifi 2 Repeater begins to blink and then he stops to solid orange and again the same process and I try to restart but does not work even does not appear as wifi Please help I try so many things that didn't work.
try resetting the repeater by plugging it in into a power source and insert a paperclip or pin in the hole below the light for a few seconds, it should flash a reset itself. then try the process again.

my drone says unsecured network on the mihome app and wont let me connect to it, i'm using android, any help would be amazing.
try changing adding the password as shown in video and connect to it with your smartphone first, then try the steps again. it might need to connect with a password protected wifi point as compared to an open one.
Thank you so much for your speedy reply. You were 100% correct, changing the preset password on the drone allowed the repeater to find the Tello and it worked perfectly...............unfortunately it didn't solve the video lag I have when bluetooth is switched on which is the reason I bought the repeater in the first place as another video I viewed said it would resolve the issue :(

why do you need battery bank?
Do you need to be by your home router to make this thing work? What about out in the field?
nope, the purpose is the extend your phone wifi signal with the extender, so in the field you take the extender and plug it into a battery bank after you have it setup.

this video did not help at all. it didnt explain the mihome account or what to do when the mihome app doesent see the repeater but the phones wifi does. Talk about confusing!
That is not just enough!..Since the Tello App won't allow you to fly over 10 meter height.
TELLO app doesn't have an option to change it either.
So, we need to use another app called TALS TelloAltLimit Setter to increase the Wifi Limit (upto 30 meter).
Then my question is what is the Use of Wifi Repeater !!.😊
As far as I'm aware, the tals app only increases the altitude. Not the horizontal range.

Not even close!! How about going back and starting with the Mi Home App finding the extender? And, then go step by step through the setup process. Step one do this, step 2 do that. Etc...

if you're going to do a video about using the extender with tello at least also do it with android phones, afterall iphone is not the only mobile phone brand out there.
