+Don Grantham Lol, yeah dude. ive been living in skyrim on the weekends when i come home to save money, instead of going out. i bought soooo many (chrimbas) presents for my nephews because of it. and this shit right here, is on repeat.
world of warcraft and skyrim are two game worlds i want to fucking live in mate. so many memories and best soundtracks and atmospheres of any video game ever
+jon3s115 I have discovered that hard modded make Skyrim too mechanistic for me and returned to vanilla. Just visual mods no more Requiems and so on...
10 years late, but this stuff helps me cope with feeling like i dont belong in my body, while my mom denies that i do, and clings to an image she has of me! Woo, trauma!
i remember solitude on a lovely afternoon, almost fell asleep to the beauty of the atmosphere and the music, until guess what? a freaking dragon comes in and my peaceful day is ruined.
DeadlyDimi Already does for me. This game took me to a completely different universe when I was going through a tough time in my life. I often find myself getting on now to just walk through Skyrim and enjoy the atmosphere. Incredibly beautiful soundtrack to match an amazingly gorgeous game. It really brings me back to the countless hours I put into it and the experiences I had in this universe.
+zippyzee You: "Ahh... such a beautiful day... The trees, the stream, the snow-peaked mountains in the distance... And the oh so wonderful--- OH GOD DRAGON!! DRAGON AAAHHH!" *gets roasted*
huckmart 99 Oh shit, yeah, I didn't realize that you couldn't unlock all the perks what the hell???? I only played one character and never once realized that lol. So at one point when you level up it won't give you the option to perk up anymore?? Does that happen at a specific level? My character was actually a bad ass high elf dude who was somewhat of a mage, (just used basic stuff like healing, fast healing and fire...) I had 100 in one handed, was an alchemist and somewhat good with a bow. I just got depressed and sad when there were no more quests/main questlines to do so I gave up :'(
16 years old, sitting at my bestfriend's house during a snowstorm. We had the window open to immerse us more in the snowy mountains. I fucking miss those times.
Interesting factoid of the day: If this is the music I think it is, it's never actually been written at all! Bethesda had 300+ hours of gameplay to soundtrack, which is of course impossible to do by traditional methods, so Jeremy worked with the developers to create what they called a "palette" system that generated this ambient music on the fly. Different areas, times, and weather types in the game have different "palettes", each filled with assorted ambient drones and sounds that, no matter what order they are played in, sound good together and match the atmosphere of what is happening on screen. The system would then play these sounds in a semi-random order, essentially composing music on the fly so the player doesn't hear the same patterns and movements over and over again. For the CD you're now listening to, I believe they took a random 5-10 minute sample of each of the different "palettes" in action and edited them into 42 minute piece. The more you know...
Joshua Cruz I've not heard of didyouknowgaming I don't think! And I've not really looked at new vegas, but I'm pretty sure Skyrim is the first game they've done it for, definitely wasn't in the previous elder scrolls games.... Hope they keep using it though, it works really well!
I always wondered why the music never sounded the same twice except in a few areas (like the Bannered Mare) Now I'll have to go through and find which locations have which palettes. Is there any way to extract the randomizer from the game files? My pc can't run Skyrim so I never bothered to pick up a copy for the pc but my 360 is dying so I can't just stand there for hours just to listen to the ambiance. However, if I could extract the randomizer for this I could throw together a simple program that I might even be able to load onto a cellphone.
This is probably the only audio/soundtrack that I never get bored of hearing. Whenever you want to relax by yourself or are having a shit day, this just has a way of relieving everything and provides that next level kind of tranquility that is rare to come by. :)
I see what you're saying. Oblivion has my favorite soundtrack of all the games, but I'll admit that the music gets a little tiring. Skyrim has more atmospheric tracks that add a lot to the experience but still stay out of the way
I LOVE Oblivion to be honest. Yes Skyrim is amazing, has really brought a whole new majestic world to the PS3, but there was something magical and mystical about Oblivion. I was in awe of it when I first played it. A part of me prefers it, because it just amazed me completely. The storyline, the characters, the design, and above all; the music. The Elder Scrolls soundtrack is a masterpiece, and I am not ashamed to say I listen to it when I'm stressed. Jeremy Soule knew how to put emotion and atmosphere in musical form, and I would not associate Oblivion without it, the music moves me to tears. Yes Skyrim is absolutely stunning and has really brought a dark edginess to the games, but Oblivion always gives me nostalgia and makes me respect all the effort and heart that was put into it. It was pretty epic for its time. The Elder Scrolls games are almost like films... the views are spectacular, the music is heart-wrenchingly beautiful and generally the worlds are so unique and stunning. Games have come along way guys, always remember that. :)
***** You summed up my feelings PERFECTLY!!!! I will say that I still haven't played Skyrim yet xDD probably because I was really scared about how horrible and broken the PS3 port was but I heard it was completely fixed with the patches now so I hope to buy it some time soon.. And yes I as well have beautiful memories of Oblivion..the very first time I played that game when I was 13 I was so deeply engrossed into the lovingly detailed world of Oblivion. It was the very first time I ever played an open-world RPG and it was pure digital heaven for me and I honestly loved the story as well. I'm not talking about the main story itself but the entire story of the world including side quests especially the faction quests, dark brotherhood, mages guild,Thieves guild and all that and how they all had really excellent stories with characters I care about...I REALLY REALLY wanted to know who Gray Fox was and it captured my attention,I felt incredibly sorry when Lucien Lachance was murdered and swore to avenge his death,I remember one quest where you went inside a painting and one which was inside someones dream...They were just so imaginative and fantastic :') Its a shame to hear that guild and side quests are bland in Skyrim :( but oh well at least Jermey's still there and the world of Skyrim looks like it has its own feel but can you tell me how is the lore and feel of the world compared to Oblivion and is the PS3 version finally fixed now??
Me too, I would give anything to live there. Such a better place to live. Where there are still places unexplored and rocks a trees yet to be seen. Life would never be dull nor would it be overwhelming, it would be perfect.
CaptainMazda Once I discovered there are cheat codes in Skyrim the game was ruined for me. It's just like GTA, I tell myself I'll complete the game without codes and end up using them halfway through.. then I immediately lose interest in the game D:
It's a completely different experience with mods though, you should try it. I've only used cheat codes to advance bugged quests, but that shouldn't be a problem with my new modded playthrough,
The fucking nostalgia, God damnit. Everytime I hear this it reminds me of my 8th grade and Freshman years, because I'd always listen to this soundtrack when I was having a shit day, or wanted to chill.
+Sam Reynolds Yeah, looking back at my early years, all of 9th grade I would escape to the beautiful, immersive realm of Skyrim. It really took my mind off of what I believe was mild depression. The memories truly come flooding back when I listen to this track...
My favorite study music. Perfect scenery; Perfect atmospheric soundtracks. Makes my 12hours long study sessions more bearable. Thanks a lot for the upload!!! :)
Wait, it's already been 10 years? I remember when I used to get weekday leave on a rainy day from high school just to play Skyrim from 10AM to 5 PM. Not worrying about the real world problems, exploring tundra, north mountains and pine forests while clearing out caves and helping the denizens of Skyrim felt magical yet immersive.
Listening to this, gives me the same feeling I got as kid playing in the forest for hours. Sometimes lay down, close my eyes and listening to the chirping of different birds and the soft rustling of a nearby creek.... I feel like i lost my "inherit/primitive" connection to nature somewhere along the way since childhood. Now its all about civilization, technology and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thanks for upload! I feel like a child again...free from stress and troubles of my life :)
skyrim is the one game that i will ALWAYS come back to. while of course not as enjoyable as the very first playthrough, that sense of feeling “at home” is there basically every time i play this game
+YOUNGGUNNER360 His Harry Potter soundtracks are absolute fucking quality I tell you and not to mention Chamber Of Secrets was the very first game that earned him the BAFTA award which is a big accomplishment... Diagon Alley ost takes me to a wonderful world free from all the fucking bullcrap in real life.
"These north winds are cold, but Khajiit feels warmth from your presence." A Khajiit Greeting. I notice that the Khajiit that aren't bandits are always the friendliest race in skyrim. Alongside the Nords of course. :)
ProudFinn1 That being said those ones are usually merchants so they might just be trying to sweet talk you. Sounds very much like the stereotypical khajiit. :P
Charles II delete some other stuff! You'll only regret it later if you delete Skyrim. And having it on the 360 is no reason to delete it on pc, the pc version is better since you can mod it. I regret not getting Skyrim for PC when it was easily available (but not as much as not having a pc that could actually run it)
Skyrim's beauty comes not from its gameplay or its graphics nor from its deep lore or its diverse cities. The beauty that games like Skyrim posses is a beauty that come from the fact that Skyrim is wilderness. It is an unexplored, unknown world that can supply an endless amount of emotion. Not happiness or joy, not pleasure or satisfaction but rather a feeling of belonging more in the world that Skyrim creates than the world we live in.
It's so peaceful and thoughtful; I love it. I have ADD and struggle with staying on task during class, but the quiet and thoughtful Skyrim tracks really does help me keep focus. I find that songs without lyrics are best. Especially if they're quiet jazz or peaceful tracks, like the Skyrim town themes and atmosphere tunes.
Definitely. I can't listen to songs with lyrics when I'm studying because I focus more on the lyrics than the material. Songs without lyrics are the best. They're not too overpowering and it fills the silence well.
Gizelbelcoot Hey, if you need any help at all, don't hesitate to talk to someone you trust. The suicide hotline will always help you. 1-800-273-8255. Don't give up, if you die, you won't be able to listen to any more Skyrim music
Aidan Riley same, then I realised it was raining men and the rain I was hearing was actually screams of pain as they landed on the pavement with a large crack of the spine.
The music in Skyrim is a harmonic and powerful force that drives the emotional connection to the player who steps into it's world. The sound design mixed with the music both put together gives a ambient and hauntingly chilling feeling of peace. Close your eyes as you listen to the subtle sounds of the wind and grass been blown side to side, the music and ambience encourages memories to come forward.
Solitude is such a cool city. The whole game is just... creative genius. I would actually want to live there lol. But then I would probably die like the first day. Would still be worth it.
If I could only beg the smallest amount of your time, To remind you that you are truth, and truth is simple in that it contains within and without the essence of Love. You are this - an endless fountain of love. Whether you consciously know it or not. And furthermore, you have a purpose and place on this earth. The universe loves you. I love you. You love you, because there is nothing else. x
I dunno if i should feel bad or not, i mean i have so many memories based in the Bethesda universe of the likes of Morowind, oblivion and Skyrim, I just feel more at home in those games then i do in real life sometimes. It's a great escape i guess.
I fear that very, very few people in this world have such a deep connection to this game- more like, alternate reality- and can't fully appreciate the euphoria it delivers.
I have played many games in my life, especially RPGs and in my opinion ES has always had the best soundtracks! I Loved/love them so much I listen to them sometimes when in need of relaxing, especially those from Oblivion. :D
This video alone got me through the final years of secondary school. Every now and then I'll wander back to it and remember all the light nights I spent studying to this soundtrack. I even used to fall asleep to this in the background with my ex. How times change...
I am so with you on that Igor... Exactly the same thought. Two of my musical ICONS...Jeremy Soule & Vangelis. The music they have created will be noted as among the best of our composers from this century.
I know this isn't objective, but I've played all TES games and in my opinion, Skyrim is the best one yet. I can only pray that TES VI will have the same feel.
It´s so great that you haven´t just take the music, but the environment as well, the rain, the birds, it becomes so atmospheric. makes me think back to good old skyrim days. love it
Warm outside here, having a smoke amidst the trees and leaves while playing this through my phone... thank you Mr Soule, thank you for making my evening.
The merging of virtual reality, advanced high definition audio, and cutting edge high speed hardware and software will assure the next elder scrolls you buy won't be a mere game; but a ticket to another world. A world they have named Nirn, a dimension in which majesty, beauty, and spectacular imagination are carefully balanced together to bring you a land better than ours. A heaven in which the simple price of a video game will grant you access to the immense wonders of the farthest beyond reaches of the human imagination. "Behold" our King-god Tod will say, "we present to you our creation, Nirvana in the hands of man. We bring forth today, a marvel of the modern century, the Elder Scrolls VI". And we shall all gaze in astonishment, Pandora's box has been opened. Shall we all venture into it, and perhaps never return. Nirn awaits us everyone. Let us go forth, and shall all be conquered and glorious.
I remember walking around in a Sykrim forest and I had this feeling of inner peace. Now I know it was the mix of focussed gaming and this music, that gave me this feeling.
Listening to this can really relax the senses. Wether you need to fall asleep or stay focused, this will do the trick. Once I listen to this a nostalgic cord is hit and I'm just somewhere else... Very....
I find that the romantic movement has fared better on average than most other sub genres of 21st century classical music, especially the more experimental modernist and postmodernist movements.
Sometimes when I can't poop I listen to these songs and they relax my butthole so much that I get diarrhea and shit my pants and it feels gr8 and it works every time, thanks skyrim
Skyrim isn't a game. It's another world that I inhabit. A world made heartrendingly beautiful by the musical genius of Jeremy Soule. I love you, man.
+Don Grantham Skyrim is the real world, this world is fake

ThunderFuryFingers Not bad thanks for asking! So we could pretend I was in luck, but lets face it the lesson here is that playing skyrim helps a lot.
Tbh, sometimes I find myself making my characters wander around games like this when I want to relax. It gives you a nice escape from reality.
shelled walnut I might find myself doing that soon..losing my self in some RPG..

it refreshes my need for sweetrolls

Very punny!
Am I the only one who sometimes goes on Skyrim for the serenity of the music and atmosphere at times?
no i often pour my self a whiskey and listen to this while sitting outside my house in Skyrim
only everyday
You are not alone :) I just open up my save called ''relaxing'' and wander around :)
i remember solitude on a lovely afternoon, almost fell asleep to the beauty of the atmosphere and the music, until guess what? a freaking dragon comes in and my peaceful day is ruined.

+DHGxNightFall very well said. its more than just a game, or a really good game, its a work of art.
+DHGxNightFall I agree :)
+huckmart 99 Yes they could have added more quests in my opinion. The game finished too early.
huckmart 99 Oh shit, yeah, I didn't realize that you couldn't unlock all the perks what the hell???? I only played one character and never once realized that lol. +DHGxNightFall I just hope that the next elder scroll will do at least as good .
I listen to this every day at work...on the docks, because I am an Argonian worker in poverty.
Anything a adventurer can do to help?

When you play in Skyrim it's more than just "playing a game". You're living in this outstanding world. You're part of it.
I've been listening to this song every single night for about 6 months now...I could say it has rooted deep into my soule...
8 months and still counting...

Jaymerka what do you mean? It’s just one part within a 40 minute “song”
@@Bakemovies oh okay
bro same chills
28:34 is the best part. Sums up the amazing feeling of atmosphere in the north during winter

I have ADD as well, and I don't know what it is, but this track offers a kind of serenity that's hard to find elsewhere
Emma Waters I am close to commit suicide, listening to this to hold back
Gizelbelcoot Hey, if you need any help at all, don't hesitate to talk to someone you trust. The suicide hotline will always help you. 1-800-273-8255. Don't give up, if you die, you won't be able to listen to any more Skyrim music
with my headphones on, I thought it was raining outside.
same. then i realised it was actually raining
Aidan Riley
same, then I realised it was raining men and the rain I was hearing was actually screams of pain as they landed on the pavement with a large crack of the spine.
Well that escalated quickly.
I either use this for sleeping or studying...noise cancelling headphones, excellence here i come
Alduin and 49 other dragons disliked this
stunning
Will it be possible one day to join this world ? Today, we need this kind of serenity
Gaspard James Maybe if everyone thought this way, we'd have a more peaceful world.
+Lirah Lolwut? The world of Tamriel is in constant war. Don't think it would be more peaceful I'm afraid :p
When you just feel depressed, this is really the best music to listen to. Always gets me on hoping moods again. :)
Shar Thulovaas Hahah hell yeah
If I could only beg the smallest amount of your time,
To remind you that you are truth, and truth is simple in that it contains within and without the essence of Love. You are this - an endless fountain of love. Whether you consciously know it or not. And furthermore, you have a purpose and place on this earth.
The universe loves you. I love you. You love you, because there is nothing else.
x
The x at the end made me think of Mega64's Ignaxio videos
I swear to god, this video on tubereplay combined to the "simplyrain" simulator is the most relaxing thing in this world
I dunno if i should feel bad or not, i mean i have so many memories based in the Bethesda universe of the likes of Morowind, oblivion and Skyrim, I just feel more at home in those games then i do in real life sometimes. It's a great escape i guess.
Tobias Todd ☝☝☝☝☝
My favorite part starts at 8:12
I fear that very, very few people in this world have such a deep connection to this game- more like, alternate reality- and can't fully appreciate the euphoria it delivers.
I feel as though this game defines me more than anything else. Sounds sad but is oh so true.
You don't play Skyrim, you live Skyrim.
Oblivion and Skyrim Best Games I Have Ever Played In My Life
I dont care what console the next Elder Scrolls comes out for. As long as the OST is as awesome as this, im fine.
Better than any book skyrim is. You're inside the story.
я никогда не забуду эту вселенную....
This makes me nostalgic. Nostalgic of when I took three days off work for Skyrim release. Those were the days. *shakes fist at growing up*
he really put his heart and soule into this
I have played many games in my life, especially RPGs and in my opinion ES has always had the best soundtracks!
I will never forget these landscapes, which takes me stunning me for 2011-2019
the mountains in skyrim are so beautiful this music makes me feel melancholy
I don't think "melancholy" is the word you were looking for, unless you meant that it makes you sad.
thats what it makes me feel
thx Aramil may your road lead you to warm sands :)
That my friend, was truly brilliant.
It was 42 mins of pure & utter relaxtion.
Just the tonic, after the last few days.
skyrim without jeremy soule´s music is like blade runner without vangelis´ music
+Igor San Vicente
I like that movie Blade Runner.
This music just has a feel of environment and works wonders with this game.
Jeremy really poured is.................................................... whole heart into this performance really nice job man.
I want live in this world.
I found! this is the only yet that can calm me down and let me stay concentrated on programming lol
I have never felt at more peace then simply walking through Skyrim the atmosphere is truly beautiful
This soundtrack + rainymood = [something so epic, that hard to explain]
I work in a freezer. I have skyrim tunes running through my head all day while in there
It´s so great that you haven´t just take the music, but the environment as well, the rain, the birds, it becomes so atmospheric. makes me think back to good old skyrim days. love it
This is just brilliant
beyond brilliant
Had a friend recommend Jeremy Soule music to me. I'm so glad i finally found it. This is extremely beautiful!
I'm cutting my toenails while basking in this glorious clip.
It's incredible just how much music Jeremy Soule wrote for this game, how many different melodies. This is fantastic.
Such a beautiful world of magic!
Warm outside here, having a smoke amidst the trees and leaves while playing this through my phone... thank you Mr Soule, thank you for making my evening.
I can't believe I just realized Jeremy Soule did the soundtrack for that old Harry Potter PC game wow. That's why I like both so much
Holy shit 20:28 that picture of Solitude is just absolutely magnificently beautiful in ways words can't even begin to describe.
I had Rainy Mood running in the background while playing this track, so damned relaxing.
I love the nature in the background...sooooo calming and listening this while I study for finals is my way of getting stress out of the way.
Very soothing.... Im at peace with life with this music
This music made me once again to play the Skyrim.
Jeremy Soule is the reason to play those games.
once I retired,I'll be moving to norway to start a whole new life
After playing this game so much it's become a part of me and every time I listen to this its like looking inside my soul
This is for me the best music ever made!
the first 3 minutes I always lay back on my bed,and hang my head on the edge so I feel like I'm drifting in space.
I remember walking around in a Sykrim forest and I had this feeling of inner peace. Now I know it was the mix of focussed gaming and this music, that gave me this feeling.
One of the best music soundtracks in gaming history
Listening to this can really relax the senses. Wether you need to fall asleep or stay focused, this will do the trick. Once I listen to this a nostalgic cord is hit and I'm just somewhere else... Very....
I find that the romantic movement has fared better on average than most other sub genres of 21st century classical music, especially the more experimental modernist and postmodernist movements.
***** Those too
Richard Dubbeld two kinds of people
Sometimes when I can't poop I listen to these songs and they relax my butthole so much that I get diarrhea and shit my pants and it feels gr8 and it works every time, thanks skyrim
same
I laughed so hard lil
that was way to intense. jesus. like i got a visualization that was a little bit too detailed.
I never played Skyrim, but this freaking rules.
FOR SKYYYRRIIII...zzzzzzz
I listen to this most nights to go to sleep, especially when I’m traveling. Anyone else?
Probably my favorite piece of music from any game, ever
