@pontiacGXPfan that's as good if not better. The base is good so imagine the zo6 even for the price. However because of what's going on, expect like 200k
What people don't realize is this was lighter than the infamous c4 ZR1 and this match to the early c4 ZR1's output and the next year you got the same 405 horsepower but again in a much lighter and more modern car This may not have been the technological tour de force of the ZR1 but the ZO6 was a much better overall and faster car.

For real bro, personally I think the c5s look better than the base or z51 c6 models(the c6 z06 and zr1 are an exception only rivaled by the c5 z06 in looks). But I can tell you in the corners the c5 z06 will feel and handle better while straight line the ls2 is slightly slower and ls3 is slightly quicker. Whatever you do I’m sure you will enjoy.
This car had a lot of hype behind it because it was faster than the Ferrari 360 Modena when new. They claimed it was quicker than the Diablo SV which where a lot of C5 Z06 owners began to go wrong.
Owned a 2003 till she was t-boned by a non-insured non-licensed driver. Man, what a car. Had it tuned with a cold air intake and Diablosport tuner. Never had any issues with her other than the driver side seat. It would twist under acceleration. The hinge on the door side of the seat would give out allowing torso section of the seat to "twist". It was alarming to say the least. The service department could never figure it out. Thought about replacing the seats with some Corbeaus but never had the chance. RIP 2016 with 35,000 miles.
Never was a huge corvette fan but I can honestly say the C5 Z06’s are a car I would actually own. I love the coupe body style and they really are still good performance for the money.
With below sea level DA and a sticky track AND I don't care about the clutch type of launch... I believe its possible. In reality... 12.6's at 115mph is "normal"

@@saintnificent5532 No, DOHC 32 valve 4.6 V8, same as the 01 Cobra. The Mach 1 was solid rear axle vs the Cobras IRS.
That was the SVO Mustang 1984 - 1986@@saintnificent5532
Cool to see some stuff from the early 2000's getting uploaded. nice.
"...even on the challenging curves of West Virginia's Summit Point Raceway!"
Me, knowing full well that those track shots are from Mid-Ohio: *doubt increases*
Top 10 greatest sports cars of all time, just behind the likes of the f40, f1, and easily underrated, and easily on par with the R34 gtr. If you can pick one of these up, do it. You’ll thank me in 10 years 💰
I can vouch for it being in league with the R34 but F40 and F1 now you are just overrating.
In light of how repulsive the C8 Z06 is, the C5 Z06 hardtop ain't looking so bad
How is it repulsive?
@@blackice7408 looks like a cheap Ferrari costume
Looks great to me
@pontiacGXPfan that's as good if not better. The base is good so imagine the zo6 even for the price. However because of what's going on, expect like 200k
@@blackice7408 corvette should be a corvette, not some third rate eurotrash copycat
my favorite corvette 😁😄😄😄😁 Best looking by far with the pop-up headlights
What people don't realize is this was lighter than the infamous c4 ZR1 and this match to the early c4 ZR1's output and the next year you got the same 405 horsepower but again in a much lighter and more modern car
This may not have been the technological tour de force of the ZR1 but the ZO6 was a much better overall and faster car.
The FRC that the Z06 is based on is super rare. Believe they were made for a year before the body was used only for the Z06@
could they spin anymore on that 1/4 mile run?
Corvette's of any era have never been easy to launch at a track. Made for handling not 1/4 mile
@@moejr1974 I never had issues launching my 03 Z06. MW has the worst test drivers that couldn't launch a car on slicks and see a sub 2.0 sec 60'.
Good old days!
2:19 John: NO AUTOMATIC IS AVAILABLE!
2004 Z06 was a great car. No automatic available. Those were the days
I'm sure, this will be my next car!
Oh yeah, this was a perfect vid on the C5 Z06 👏👌! I'm saving up for a C6 Vette M6, LS2 or LS3! But if I come across a clean C5 Z06, I will pull the trigger on it for sure! Chevy power varooom varooom 🚗💨💨💨💪😎
Someone at Motorweek had insomnia, and uploaded a Retro Review super early! 🙌🏽
Still waiting for the day yall upload the 2000 Deville DTS review.
This car had a lot of hype behind it because it was faster than the Ferrari 360 Modena when new. They claimed it was quicker than the Diablo SV which where a lot of C5 Z06 owners began to go wrong.
I’d love to have a C6 Z06 but I’d definitely be happy about a C5 Z06
Dream Vette 2002 like me.
Miss my Z06
I don't... just have to open the garage door 😉
My favorite generation of the vette
Z06, my kinda car!
How long until the corvettes are battery powered?
Doesn't feel like 20 years ago....and this 'Vette Z06 can now qualify for Collector or Classic plates in my state.
That's a sobering thought
still my fav vette!
What a trip down memory lane! However you say the track is Summit Point, but clearly it is Mid-Ohio
I've driven mid-oh... no the vids are not from mid-ohio
I have an 04 Z and it's a great car!
Ditto
Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit
And Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
Owned a 2003 till she was t-boned by a non-insured non-licensed driver. Man, what a car. Had it tuned with a cold air intake and Diablosport tuner. Never had any issues with her other than the driver side seat. It would twist under acceleration. The hinge on the door side of the seat would give out allowing torso section of the seat to "twist". It was alarming to say the least. The service department could never figure it out. Thought about replacing the seats with some Corbeaus but never had the chance. RIP 2016 with 35,000 miles.
I got one new in 01......i was 33 and i was in love
I saw the vid on the 2023 Corvette Z06 and it looks like it will do this legend proud.
Never was a huge corvette fan but I can honestly say the C5 Z06’s are a car I would actually own. I love the coupe body style and they really are still good performance for the money.
My dream goal one day!
Built perfect
Great work Sir thank you
pretty much the perfect sports car
Didn't the Z06 have 405hp? Or was that the following year?
I think it did in 2003.
405 hp beginning in 2002.
02-04 had 405
Game changer.
I love these
2 decades later, mid-engined, flat-plane crank, and performance that rivals most high end supercars.
Unfortunately it’s automatic exclusively. I’d like the manual option even if it’s slower
I love my 2004 Z06 but that comment about no squeaks or rattles didn't hold up well over time!
C5 Z06-no automatic available
C8 Z06-no manual available
😭 dont remind me. I don't care if it's faster with automatic
Sad times
2001 was just a better time.
All about numbers and bragging rights now
GMHTP magazine got a bone stock C5Z to run 11.9 at Englishtown Raceway. I still have that issue somewhere.
With below sea level DA and a sticky track AND I don't care about the clutch type of launch... I believe its possible.
In reality... 12.6's at 115mph is "normal"
20 years later we still have a new Z06!!
The new Z06 will be very difficult to obtain. And if you do, be prepared to pay $200,000.
My dream car 22 years ago and I'm still no closer to owning it today
I thought I'd never see the day I could have a Z06. But I decided to make sacrifices and with a lot of discipline on a 28-34k a year job I managed to save up enough to pay cash for my '02 Z06 in 3 years. Although I did get lucky because I happened to find mine 4 years ago for $12k but talked them down to $10.5k.
@@spokentruthfully congrats!!
@@spokentruthfully how many miles cause holy shit that’s cheep
@@ryanrake2714 I spent a year or so searching every week various places when I found mine within 400 miles of where I lived. It had 160K miles. A little higher than what I wanted but for $10.5k and not seeing one in a year for 10k that didn't have a salvage title, I couldn't pass it up. Even 4 years later I still haven't seen a z06 for 10k.
@@spokentruthfully that's crazy man, but if a car is well maintained and driven well, they will last forever. How is she driving now?
I have a 1004 Z-06 that I bought
brand new. Amazing car and
worth every penny!!
the last generation with pop up headlights.
I have a yellow 2001 Z06 lol. Bought it with 15,000 miles. Mine made 352 whp bone stock which is 405 hp with a 13% drivetrain loss 🤷♂️. It went 12.61 with a 2.0 60' in 3,000 ft DA lol. That's poor air and a very easy launch. At sea level with a 1.85 60' it would be a 12.0 car. The seats are trash, totally unacceptable for a car literally built for the race track. Other than that I love the car!
They still on the road to this day
