honestly this kinda makes me want a rogue-trader-esque Star Trek game where you have to just sort of fuck off into the wild blue yonder, exploring, drop campaigns as DLC and give us a procedural sandbox that stacks planets like rogue-lites do, upgrade your ship and crew, have different hulls REALLY mean something, like the Akira's port and starboard torpedo tubes
Looks beautiful! I would like to see the torpedo visuals continue until the torpedo hits the target as I noticed the torps are only visible a few seconds after they are launched and then they disappear. Hopefully this is something than can be addressed.
Awesome progress! Looks like it needs a little work on the shield impacts though. It gets hard to see all the beautiful ship hulls under those blue effects sometimes.

The Intrepid having animated nacelles is something that was looked into, and if/when it becomes possible, it is definitely something the development team would like to do. The Akira is, from what I know, yes. It was a cruiser previously. Star Trek Armada IV is going to be quite a bit different from the previous mod, so do not expect a lot of similarities beyond what would obviously be similar (i.e. factions)
Be interesting if they could somehow repurpose the game engine's ability for turret tracking onto the nacelles to get them animated. I doubt it's that simple though, but it'd be interesting if they could pull it off.
ST: Armada 4 looks fantastic. Love the modern visuals. I know it's still early in development for the mod, but any chance of seeing ships we didn't get in Armada 3 down the line? Like the the canon Odyssey Class, Pathfinder Class, etc., or non-canon ships like the Sovereign Class Archangel Refit, the Athena or Juno Classes by D.J. Curtis, etc?

This looks absolutely insane. I have some questions. 1: It seems that all (or at least some) of capital ship voice lines are name specific (which is unbelievably cool). This seems like a lot of work, so I was wondering: what happens when a player changes the name of a capital ship? And 2: what happens when there are more capital ships than there are recorded lines for (for example, if you have name specific voice lines for 10 different names, and I build an 11th capital ship, what will happen, or are you planing to make it so that that never happens)? 2: I noticed that the faction you selected at the beginning is called federation - deep space nine. Does this mean you are planning on including multiple eras of factions, kinda like what you did in ages of the federation with the coalition and the federation? Anyway, this looks incredible, you guys are amazing for making this, and I can't wait to play it (also sorry if these question where already answered somewhere)! Edit: I just rewatched the video. Did I just see the phaser MOVE along the strip as it was firing at 5:39 (or was it just the ship turning?). If so, that's a freaking cool touch.
1: Nothing changes, the voice line would remain the same even if the ship's name is changed. As for part 2 of this question, the devs have not yet answered this from what I know. 2: The faction is named that way because they wanted to avoid confusion with the eras and ship types within the factions - that way people weren't asking for TNG or TOS ships or something.

Maybe the structure of sins2 is really similar to the first one, so they don't have to start over with tools and logic parts. Models can be just ported from the first game and adapted to the new shaders / effects
They were working on models before Sins 2's modding tools were released, so they are able to quickly import models to Sins 2, since the models are already done. Whether that applies to all factions, or just the Federation, I am unsure.

I hope there are some new ship changes like the Centaur class being changed to the California class, the Constellation class being changed to the Sutherland class, and Miranda being changed to a Luna class. Or if we can pick which Gen of fed ships. Like TOS, TNG, or PE I guess that would too much work for the modelers but a person can dream.

Yes in cinematic view torpedoes seem to stop rendering shortly after leaving their tubes. We're looking into it. Expect lots of glitches and weirdness this early on in development.

sins of new eden is a mod that exists for sins of the solar empire, that game has so many total conversions, from star trek, to eve, to even stargate pretty sure

if you pay attention you actualy notice that the audio and the name don't actually match the audio says USS Galaxy but the infobox says USS Sovereign.

The faction was labelled as "Federation DS9" I assume that means DS9/Dominion War era.
So I imagine we won't see ship from after that.
I hope they still use fan ships, I much prefer the Elysion Class over the California. Same goes for the STA3 Dreadnoughts

Are those shield effects provisional? Because they don't look like they do in Star Trek (and Armada III for that matter)
they kinda resemble Armada 2 shields
They are currently stock.
The shield effects are still very work-in-progress, there has not been much tweaking to them yet
