    I was a six-year-old boy living in Ireland when I first heard this song! I fell head over heels in 'Love' with Sophia Loren and Nancy Sinatra - They were so lovely! As for Peter Sellars - when he was given the right part - such as "Dr Strangelove" - he was simply the best of the best! That they would make such stars!

    This was repeatedly played on All Indian Radio in Sixties and Seventies by request from listeners on a program called "listeners choice". Friday evening and Saturday nights.
    Those were simply humble days.
    Great days then....the word racism was never heard of then.
    AND I AM INDIAN
    And even now I listen to that song. Brings back sweet memories.
    I remember going to the movies to see Peter Sellers in THE PARTY. He acted as a fumbling Indian there too.
    BRING BACK THE OLD DAYS!!!!
    Don't forget Bill Forbes classic "Oh to be England " Another classic in those days.
    I remember my uncles dancing to this tune. Peter Sellers inspired Bill Forbes.
    GOOD OLD FUN DAYS.....BRING THEM BACK PLEASE !!!

    Produced by George Martin (Beatles) who also did Right said Fred with Bernard Cribbins all at Parlophone pre-Beatles. Classically trained and without him the Beatles would never have succeeded. Controversial statement but true.

    • @honoriusthebes
      @honoriusthebes Рік тому +2

      Yes, you're absolutely right. Truly, George Martin was the Fifth Beatle, as much of a Beatle as the rest of them. He organized lyrics that were often disorganized, and his arrangements gave creative impact to their songs. His mentorship was probably equivalent to earning a Bachelor's degree in music, and their learnings impacted their music for life after the Beatles. I was surprised when I read that he died recently (2016)--I thought he had died long ago, and that's because he's been overlooked during the past several decades.

    • @Jamesharveycomics
      @Jamesharveycomics 10 місяців тому +1

      The fact that he also produced Gerry and The Pacemakers, Cilla Black and Bernard Cribbins and so many acts that never became Beatles-huge tells you that the Beatles’ success probably would have happened with or without George Martin. He was important to the band but not integral

    • @andromedaturnbull3512
      @andromedaturnbull3512 Рік тому +3

      Actually, I think the difference here is that it's very carefully *not* racist. Peter Sellers is playing an Indian character, but has clearly worked hard on his accent, which is quite deliberately careful and not in itself a parody so as to avoid mocking the target culture. I think, if anything, this is an excellent example of how cross cultural humour is possible without causing offense. (Hindi student here.)

    This is a prime example of the colonization of cultural stereotypes in conjunction with the exploitation of outmoded binary gender models based on characteristics which were allowed to develop before these individuals were in a position to choose which sex their lived experience informed them they should be.
    In other words a delightful example of the good old days which seemed so uncomplicated, when humour was meant to be just that and not draped in definitions of hate speech and victimhood.
    I meant to just say it's bloody funny and glad her characteristics developed just the way they did. At a rough guess I'd say the right pronoun is 'she', yeah a woman.

    Christ this is so bad!!! First off, it's dubbed, and secondly it has actors with English supposedly as their non-native language (with the exception of Peter Sellers) and all the idioms that go with it, demonstrating this piece of artwork which should have only been left in the makette stage, directed in a traditionally slow manner which does no credit to themselves, nor their fictional characters. What's up with snapping the fingers? BTW: head over to me impersonating Steven Toast.
