@Journeyman I had thought about that too a lot lately. About how MUCH MJ along with his brothers did as kids and young adults that they could've retired for good in the 80s. Seems after the 1984 Victory tour would've probably been a good time to retire.
Journeyman Sure, they all could have retired comfortably at a very young age. But why retire when you’re living your dream and bringing so much joy to the world.
I notice these Jackson 5 posts become very "Michael centric". But those of us that grew up in the era of the Jackson 5 know, that while Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer to ever live, the Jacksons each had their own distinct talent. Case in point: The act uses a teenaged bassist and guitarist, and a pre-adolescent percussionist. How many groups today can make that claim. Today's acts are replete with backing musicians and backing tracks. The J5 brought in a drummer from the neighborhood and an organist from the next town to round out their whole show. This is an epic feat for these kids.
Everybody knows this but, most are just Michael Jackson fans. Let people say what they want to say. He did stand out! Just like every other front person in a group

I was actually living with the drummer, Johnny Jackson at that time, many reasons. It was a bad time. I was at the house a lot and it was mostly Joe's fault. He wanted out. Then he found out Motown owned their name. it was awful.

Shoutout to Randy who was always w the group. He was killing those drums and amazing considering his age! Talented family who shared thier innate gift w the world!
I remember seeing the J5 in Cleveland Ohio at the Public Auditorium in the 70’s as a kid, it was the best gift my mother ever gave me other than bringing me into this world! These were the best of times!
A large round of applause and a standing ovation! Simple breathtaking....I adored this performance, so full of energy and so vitalizing! Makes you feel so good that the whole day is great! Why can't any of the groups of nowadays, give a performance like this? May be they all need coaching from the Jackson 5! I love it when they sing "We....Thank you!" So emotional and so melodious! The world of music has lost its soul without Michael Jackson!
Michael took classes in everything! Cream rises to the top. The older”boys” were Ho’s. Michael was not lazy like the brothers. As you give you receive. Michael gave so much he started a financial grab fest. Michael had a IQ of 162...look who has the money now? The thieves are still trying to steal. Michael kept his eye on the business and taught his children how to protect themselves from the thieves.
@@josephineyoung9142 Girl, what the hell are you talking about? You don't know anything about these folks. "Michael kept his eye on the business"? Michael was practically (not technically) broke at the time of his death, although this the 'This IS IT Tour' was gonna cure all of that. "Michael gave so much he started a financial grab fest". Please tell me that you're just a youngster and have no real responsibility to anybody other than yourself.
This is an awesome concert footage! Nobody couldn't touch the Jackson 5. Tito and Jermaine did show true musicianship playing their instruments. But, it was Michael Jackson that showed showmanship at a young age.
CLASSIC! Priceless - the harmonies are absolutely beautiful. Michael's energy levels are so amazing and his voice is just breaking. Wonderful - star quality shining out - the KING performing for the Queen Mother. so cute when he's just being a brother and starts laughing at one of the others when Tito is playing his solo.
By this point in 1972, you can tell his voice is changing; he’s avoiding those high notes as much as he can.Jermaine too. Plus by this point he/they’ve been doing those same old hits at least a hundred times by then. Still an incredible performance though.
I was teenager watching this on a weekend TV in prime time with The Jackson Five. It was amazing then as it was now. Thing is, The Beatles were over, alot of cultural issues that were shading the Nation, many things going on creatively. The Jackson's legacy was perfectly timed by hard work and they are all musical super stars. Still are. Buy again, did you notice the choreography was not even a known word to the masses, but in these huge appearences, Those Jackson Boys pulled a Mills Brothers Spiritual with Gospel and then closed with intense syncopation while driving the sound and the performance. I loved them then as I do everytime I can dance and say to the Gods on high, I AM A CHILD OF THE FUNK! Peace Forever
I’m a longtime member of the Philadelphia Orchestra violin section, and I marvel at absolute greatness of this performance! ... and I’ve witnessed firsthand many great performances!!!
THE GREATEST SINGING FAMILY OF ALL TIMES! THE JACKSON FIVE (5) Was There As They Were Performing! ROYALTY IN PERSON ALL PRAISE DUE TO ALLAH! I AM ONE WITH GOD!
They did not stop moving full sets with different dance steps for each song. With live instruments and live vocals no one today can do that. Pure talent
AWESOME !!!! AN AMAZING CONCERT. ON THE ROYAL PERFORMANCE. WOW !!! TITO AND JERMAINE JACKSON ARE INCREDIBLE ON THOSE GUITARS.. JERMAIN WAS SUCH MUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF ***** THE JACKSON FIVE*****. JERMAINE PLAYED AN AWESOME BASS 🎸 GUITAR. PART SANG BACKGROUND VOCALS AND 2nd LEAD VOCALS ...GOSH HE IS SOOOOOO AMAZINGLY AWESOME. AND TITO STRUMS THE 🎸 GUITAR. WITH SUCH A COOL FEEL. AND HE WAS SOOOO YOUNG AND PLAYED THE 🎸 GUITAR SOLO LIKE ONLY HE CAN. ( MY FAVORITE GUITARIST ). SPECTACULAR CONCERT!!!!!!!!!
This is priceless! Their talent amazes me still. Such a polished performance. Who else can sing and dance and play their own music like that. Just singing and dancing at the same time is difficult enough. I miss MJ and miss joyful, funky pop music, which is why I will always be old-school and listen to the oldies but goodies!
Think about this! a 4 piece self contained band killing it! no strings...horns...this is what PURE talent sounds like! called PERFECTION!!! for one's coming up..let this be your blue print! AWESOME!
This was awesome! All live no auto tune dancin' their asses off perfection! Such a talented & hard working family. It's so obvious to me now that Michael was a prodigy. He didn't just sing & dance to the music, he WAS the music!
The most difficult aspect of performing a song over and over and over is convincing the audience that this is the first time. The Jackson 5 performed these songs and dance moves 1000’s of times and still acted as if it was all brand new.
The entire Jackson 5 group is special to me. Been that way my entire life. I was always crazy about each one because they all were talented and handsome.
Jermaine's white cable from his bass to the amp just swangin to the groove in the background!!!😂 dat old school bass playing!!! They killed that rockin Robin 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He's so different than any artist I've seen ever. You can't take your eyes off of him. The public etc couldn't handle his success and mocked him for everything when he got older. With every jungle tribe and every human and every Marian knowing who you are your gunna get hate. Not everyone likes everyone but I remember there was a LOT of jealousy towards Michael and people wanted to take him down. It hurts remembering how much love he got mixed with hate. The guy never hurt or disrespected anyone. Loved EVERYONE. Man it's so hard to accept he's gone.
Amo ver essas raridades! Lindo todos jackson, Randy arrasando, Marlon criando as coreografias com jackie! Tito e Jermanie sensacional , Mike soma com tudo! 🎉
Daaaang! All those dance moves - and they still could breathe enough to sing and harmonize. They have got to be the GREATEST family group ever on this planet. No auto tune or lip sync, either. This was the real deal.
All I have to say Is motown signed the Jackson 5 not Michael Jackson...If you look in the history of the music business there have been countless groups who have been told they will not be signed and they only wanted to keep one or two people from that group. SO IF BERRY Gordy really wanted to he could have just signed Michael Jackson as a solo act but he didn't because the brothers as a whole. We're great.
Michael Washington You did know that Both MJ and Jermaine were also signed as a solo.. he performed one of his hits Rockin Robin.. I think they performed as a band/ background on all 4 of his Motown Albums
Yeah ofcourse not. They had the whole brothers/family angle that way. That shit is a selling point, but if you think every single one of them except Michael couldn't be replaced then you need to accept reality. I'm sure they all meant a lot to black people, but Michael could have done that for you with any other 4 half decent black dancer
You'll never see a prodigy like this again, kids! Funny to read the young folks comments! Lol. If it wasn't for UA-cam, SOME of y'all would be completely lost on great music and artists! It's not ur fault tho!
Yeah like there aren't great artists that are popular right now. Like adele, sia, beyonce, rihanna, bruno mars, ed sheeran etc aren't all as good as it fucking gets. Stop sounding 80 years old
@@user-zu5sp7wx2g All garbage. None of those artists can even hold a candle to Michael Jackson. Not even close. Sia? Nigga please. GTFO with that shit. Have several seats
The great thing about the J5 is that even though you can't really hear Marlon, Jackie, and Tito on vocals -- it was definitely a two-singer band -- the three of them weren't expendable at all. Tito can definitely rock that guitar.
@Man vs Skateboard I knew every song, every album, every lyric word for word. I knew every note, every voice. I wore my Jacksons Albums out!! I didn't pick up the needle to skip ahead. Hallelujah Day features mom on piano!

The Kings of all boy bands. Michael,Randy and Jermaine r killing it.Great stuff. There will never b another Michael and J5.
Shoutout to Randy who was always w the group. He was killing those drums and amazing considering his age! Talented family who shared thier innate gift w the world!
Can we give it up for Randy holding his own on the Bongos!✌️
I remember seeing the J5 in Cleveland Ohio at the Public Auditorium in the 70’s as a kid, it was the best gift my mother ever gave me other than bringing me into this world!
These were the best of times!
I was at that same concert! I was 10 years old. Great concert, great memories!!
lol Mike was saying 'Ho" long before the Thriller era it seems :D
mrm64 yep :D
BGTheJudith - Yep :)
Of course.
mrm64 Duhhhh He did it when ABC came out.
Hahaha yess I noticed that too!!!
Most Definitely a SUPER GROUP

It was all of them geesh !
@@anthonytaylor7928 Exactly
They were the ultimate professionals. Completely Genius. Incredible.
They were all awesome all of these comments about Mike this and that all of the brothers were equally as popular during this time
Michael Jackson vocal is so so beautiful
They were the best that's all I can say I luv u J 5 forever!!!
THE GREATEST SINGING FAMILY OF ALL TIMES!
THE JACKSON FIVE (5)
Was There As They Were Performing!
ROYALTY IN PERSON
ALL PRAISE DUE TO ALLAH!
I AM ONE WITH GOD!
Sure bro, praise is to Allah the most Almighty..
They did not stop moving full sets with different dance steps for each song. With live instruments and live vocals no one today can do that. Pure talent
Thank you Joe and Kathrine!
I remember watching this as a child when it aired in the UK.
Wow! Motown really did a really nice job with the J5 and all their acts. Thumbs up...
all the Jackson's Brothers were talented not just MJ.jermaine the beast on his guitar
Bass Guitar on Jermaine Unreal co-ordination
Jermaine was a very underrated bassist. He was really quite good back then. Not sure what he can do now.
Pure, raw talent.
He Really is and VERY underrated! As a Bass player myself, the guy can freakin PLAY you hear me!
Think about this! a 4 piece self contained band killing it! no strings...horns...this is what PURE talent sounds like! called PERFECTION!!! for one's coming up..let this be your blue print! AWESOME!
Look at them go!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was awesome! All live no auto tune dancin' their asses off perfection! Such a talented & hard working family. It's so obvious to me now that Michael was a prodigy. He didn't just sing & dance to the music, he WAS the music!
Unbelievable how much power they still had till the last song of this medley❤
OH MY GOD!!!!
I'm Speechless.
That was live and
Michael Jackson was so little and
so AWESOME!!!!!
The Jackson 5 are awesome and Michael Jackson u will always be the greatest forever and forever
This boy still gives me goosebumps...Mike must have been 14 at the time and such pro
The most difficult aspect of performing a song over and over and over is convincing the audience that this is the first time. The Jackson 5 performed these songs and dance moves 1000’s of times and still acted as if it was all brand new.
That's true. Billy Joel once commented that he'd rather drink a 6 pack of warm beer than sing Piano Man again.
What??
The entire Jackson 5 group is special to me. Been that way my entire life. I was always crazy about each one because they all were talented and handsome.
Jermaine's white cable from his bass to the amp just swangin to the groove in the background!!!😂 dat old school bass playing!!! They killed that rockin Robin 🔥🔥🔥🔥
So beautiful. He total moves and at a time he sings and also dance
It's not just michael. But tito Jermaine Marlon Jackie (randy additoonal) are the greatest of all time. Music will live on forever.
I love you Michael and the brothers and always will.....you all changed lives around the world
They are so great I just want to shout for joy
I can watch anything jackson five anytime
Wow!!! Most of my favorite J5 songs, right there, LIVE!!!
Daaaang! All those dance moves - and they still could breathe enough to sing and harmonize. They have got to be the GREATEST family group ever on this planet. No auto tune or lip sync, either. This was the real deal.
Amazing even back then 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
That was such a smooth move!!!! Talent like this is so rare today!
The tRUth!!!!
@@wilsord11 solo AFTER the five were a hit.
Joe Jackson was not about to let that happen.
What a performance!!! Watching this reminded me of how much these talented brothers inspired me to become a musician!
Bro, they inspired everybody I knew back in the 70s... every guitar in the pawnshops were sold!
@@simmiewilliams5970 lol true that 🤣 😂 😆
You'll never see a prodigy like this again, kids!
@@mayukittyrescue8728 All garbage? Really? I didn't say they were as good, but all garbage.. Well okay then.
SS O hes just passionate thats all (the guy you were talking to). The people you listed are talented, but they dont compare to mj at all.
@@youwatch2muchtv That's subjective. I mean I even agree, but it really is just an opinion
The great thing about the J5 is that even though you can't really hear Marlon, Jackie, and Tito on vocals -- it was definitely a two-singer band -- the three of them weren't expendable at all. Tito can definitely rock that guitar.
Jackie voice comes through a lot, if you know his voice. Some cuts on some albums, you hear Marlon well too.
@Man vs Skateboard I knew every song, every album, every lyric word for word. I knew every note, every voice. I wore my Jacksons Albums out!! I didn't pick up the needle to skip ahead. Hallelujah Day features mom on piano!
How can u not hear them when they do their own background vocals? Make it make sense
@@ertfgghhhh I agree that was a stupid comment
Awwwlll look at little Randy..
Cuánto talento! Vivi enamorada de este niño que solo conocí a través de la música. Descanse en paz. Me gustaría saber de sus hermanos.
Love this. This performance has the best live version of "The Love You Save" that I have found.
They were so Awesome. Rest MJ
Jermaine is awesome on the love you save.
and
thats what
make them stand out
from all the other groups

ikr it is funny to me
i think its hot lol.
I did 30 times but whose counting
O
The song transitions were so smooth. So well rehearsed it’s almost scary to think how many hours they put into it.
