@@PumpiPie The G6 includes and supports Dolby Digital Decoding, features the X-Amp amplifier which drives the left and right headphones separately, has a DAC that is 32 bit / 384khz capable, delivers a DNR up to 130 dB, is compatible with the Nintendo Switch, and has a low output impedance. The G6 can drive Headphones with an impedance as low as 1 ohm, all the way up to 600 ohms. The G5 on the other hand does not officially support the Nintendo Switch (as far as I know), has a 24 bit/ 192 kHz DAC, does NOT have Dolby Digital Decoding, doesn't have the X-Amp, has a DNR of up to 120 dB, and will support and drive headphones starting at 2.2 ohms and up to 600 ohms. The G5 also lacks RGB lighting on the X logo on the face of the unit, as well as RGB lighting around the ring surrounding the volume knob. The G6 has this added as an extra touch. The G5 also has one major difference in that it features both a USB micro and a full size USB-A input in the back of the unit, while the G6 gets rid of the USB-A input in favor of just the one USB Micro input. All in all, the G6 is the superior product, with improvements across the board. If you get the chance to buy one, I'd get it over the G5 any day.
@@PumpiPie As far as the G6 vs the X-Fi HD, I would say the two products are completely different in that they're aimed at and marketed towards different use cases. The G6 is first and foremost an external passively powered USB Gaming DAC/Amp. It has features that are made to enhance your gaming experience such as the Scout mode which equalizes the sound in a way that emphasizes gunshots, footsteps, explosions and more (changes depending on the game) giving you an edge over your opponents. You can customize your sound profile with the software it comes with (a separate download) to your preferences as well. The X-Fi HD amp, while cheaper, is an older product which is made to be used with Home Stereos, vinyl turntables, PC's and Laptops. While it does feature a USB Micro input on the back, I cannot guarantee it will work with gaming consoles. The X-Fi HD only supports and outputs Stereo Sound, can drive headphones up to 330 ohm, and can amplify up to 113 dB. It can be used for Gaming, but it won't be anywhere near as good as the G6. The G6 simply blows it out of the water with improvements in features, guaranteed support for most gaming consoles and full support for PC's and Laptops. Don't forget the G6/G5 can also be used for Smartphones, Home Theater systems (if you really want to I guess, using optical in/out), and TVs. It's not limited to gaming either, you can use it for music and movies as well. If I were you, I would be looking only at the G5 and G6 for gaming, that is, if you want to stick with Sound blaster. I hope this helps.
@@PumpiPie Of course! I forgot to mention the G5 also has the Scout Mode Feature, however I think going with a used G6 or a G6 on sale is a great option. Good luck and enjoy!
Nice review :) do you know if it works on Apple computers ? i mean, i think hardware would be OK, but do you know if there is a software version for MAC ? (to adjust settings if needed) - thank you.
I had this for a few months and the volume knob hasn't even worked, idk if it's something to do with firmware, so I just hook it up to a speaker with scout mode and that's the only way I've been playing, I don't regret it but I would like to use my headphones I just don't wanna damage my ears cause there's no volume control
Would you recommend this over Sennheiser's GSX 1000? I started searching because I'm currently running my HyperX Cloud II's on a new computer build. I'm connecting my headset via analog directly to my motherboard's sound card (z390 Aorus Master from GIgabyte). What are your thoughts?
Overall the G6 is better than the GSX1000. Especially in stereo direct mode which i use exclusively. The only advantages of the GSX are the better surround sound emulation and that it works without the bloated software from Creative.
I have g6 and gsx 1000 and honestly I don’t see a significant difference in surround sound . Instead is very evident when I use the g6 compared to the gsx1000 a much richer and more gratifying sound detail .
Daniel Vasile the gsx 1000 is great for playing on PC with a very good surround sound but it comes in 16 bits in 7.1 and maximum 24 in stereo hd, while the G6 comes in 32 bits and you feel it above all when you listen to music because you hear a richer sound and detailed. In games instead it is more difficult to notice the differences and perhaps the gsx sourround is slightly better as sound placement, but the G6 seems to have a slightly more detailed sound having a 7.1 in 32 bit. Having both of them, for some games I use the Gsx while for others the G6 and in the end both are good, even if with the G6 you have much more power available because being able to drive headphones up to 600 ohms reaches incredible volume levels.
QUESTION.... IF I BUY THIS, CAN I USE A HYPER-X ALPHA HEADSET AND USE A DIFFERENT SEPARATE ARM MIC? THAST WHAT IM LOOKING FOR, SINCE I SEE ONE OUT PUT FOR HEADPHONES AND ONE FOR MIC. IF WOULD IT WORK PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP SO I CAN BUY IT. THANKS
You can't really. If you want wireless and these creative audio processing technologies, then I'd look at one of Creative's wireless headsets (one of which I'll be reviewing soon-ish).
@@afaegfaegaeg9551 Worth the money. I am really enjoying the G6 and what it has to offer. I play a lot of rainbow six siege and going from the fulla2 to this was a good idea. Can tell this amp pushes my 990 pros better and the added app to control the drivers on it is great. if you are trying to decide between the two, def go for the G6.
Hey, what's the big diff between g5 and g6? G5 is cheaper, it has a usb port (connect your mouse or keyboard there) and it won't save pc settings if disconnected, am I right?? I'm wondering about these 2.
@@janneus alot more clear also if you play fps games and need to know where footsteps and shootings are coming from those are loud asf Also like he said this amp gets loud asf ive only had it for a day really and those ate things that I can think off the bat
So, if you plug this directly into your optical audio out, and plug the USB into a wall adapter, will it work for stuff like satellite, or whatever else is hooked up to the TV?
If I'm exclusively into HQ music playback in the quality range of Asus STX or STX II and not into gaming, would the SBX G6 still be a reasonable choice?
Sound yes, but probably you'll suffer from software quality, I have AE-5 and G6 is a mobile version, so if you want stable and user-friendly software - use Asus.
Is there a way to mute the mic on the unit itself? The manual mentions some controls but I can't tell if its controlling mic output or the amount of loopback to hear yourself.
Interesting. Giving serious thought into getting this instead of the somewhat overwhelming options available for USB based audio interfaces, which are great but many seem to have limitations when it comes to future proofing... A cheap interface will only take you to 44.1khz or at most 48khz. Going beyond that seems to just exponentially increase the price, with really no advantage other than needing more CPU grunt to deal with the 196khz pcm stream getting flung into your usb ports. The only limited issue I see here is simply a lack of physical inputs. That said, a small decent mixer and a line into this cover many of those bases.... Thanks for the food for thought.

Biggest issue I’ve had so far, is the Xbox One X will not work with my Behringer Xenyx Q802USB or Allen & Heath ZEDI 10, even though both of them work fine on the PS4 Pro, Nvidia Switch and PC, all via a USB style “KVM” switch. In this instance, Microsoft reminds me of Apple. Locking out popular hardware, that legitimately would only give their product more appeal. Because hell, I continue to favour buying games on the PS4 Pro over the Xbox One X, simply because I like my own headphones and mic combo, on whichever USB interface I choose to use. They work with everything else I have.
JuanBagnell that too, but, even when there is a choice. We know Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be great fun. It’s coming to the 2 big ones straight up, just like GTA V did. And the choice of console becomes a choice between the likely slightly better graphics on the XBoneX, or being able to use my existing audio setup that allows me to switch between whichever device I want to use the interface, mic and headphones with, along with whatever else I’ve got patched into the interface.

Sound Blaster X-Fi HD is like half of the price of the Sound BlasterX G6 :/
And whats the different from G5 and G6?
Thank you for the answer :D
Where impressive and in detail
@@PumpiPie Of course! I forgot to mention the G5 also has the Scout Mode Feature, however I think going with a used G6 or a G6 on sale is a great option. Good luck and enjoy!
Great, informative video. Tis on its way from Amazon.
@@giuseppeianniello4214 hi! So you're saying the g6 is better? I only have the gsx 1000. How does that compare to the gsx 1000 please?
THANKS
Does this support bluetooth? How can we have a wireless headset with this Sound Blaster, or any Dac/amp system at all?
You can't really. If you want wireless and these creative audio processing technologies, then I'd look at one of Creative's wireless headsets (one of which I'll be reviewing soon-ish).
JuanBagnell Do you know any gaming headsets that have wireless and wired that can plug into these creative audio things
just purchased this and it should be here sunday or monday. I currently use the Fulla schiit 2 and am curious how they will compare.
Lemme know! That should be a fun showdown. Audio quality and location reverb tech.
what do you think? Which one?
@@afaegfaegaeg9551 Worth the money. I am really enjoying the G6 and what it has to offer. I play a lot of rainbow six siege and going from the fulla2 to this was a good idea. Can tell this amp pushes my 990 pros better and the added app to control the drivers on it is great. if you are trying to decide between the two, def go for the G6.
@@kosta1605 Thanks i will use it with DT990 Premium 250 ohm, so i was looking a AMP/DAC under 160$ but the best one is G6 i think.
@@afaegfaegaeg9551 no problem man, def worth the money and you should enjoy it as I do :).
Hey, what's the big diff between g5 and g6? G5 is cheaper, it has a usb port (connect your mouse or keyboard there) and it won't save pc settings if disconnected, am I right?? I'm wondering about these 2.
Which is the best? Topping DX1 or CREATIVE G6X ?
That card can be connected with 7.1 speakers?
Wonder how they compare to ASTRO A40 with the amp?
I would love to know that to !
g6 is better i have the a40 tr version
@@shockwaveey better how ?
@@janneus alot more clear also if you play fps games and need to know where footsteps and shootings are coming from those are loud asf Also like he said this amp gets loud asf ive only had it for a day really and those ate things that I can think off the bat

Would a home theatre receiver do the same is the sound blaster?
I have the g6 with beardynamic dt 990 pro, when I put it on high gain the bass becomes kinda distorted when listening to music
Can you adjust gamevoice audio on pc? I want to replace my Astros mixamp
beyerdynamic dt990 pro 250 ohm.. mobile phone working?
can you use scout mode for movies?
Great review bro
So it's compatible with PS4 but not actually worth it, without access to all it's settings?
So, if you plug this directly into your optical audio out, and plug the USB into a wall adapter, will it work for stuff like satellite, or whatever else is hooked up to the TV?
Chris Boire Yes.
F$ck yeah Holmes. I have 9 gaming rigs and I have been buying different sound cards to try out. Good review. Much appreciated. HASTA AMIGO! :)
Is there a way to mute the mic on the unit itself? The manual mentions some controls but I can't tell if its controlling mic output or the amount of loopback to hear yourself.
What cable did you use for phone to unit connection? Is it OTG compatible? Can get it to work with one plus 6,,,
Do they provide wire to connect this amp/dac to mobile phone having USC c port?
We had a rambunctious toddler but there was a toggle function to dial down the rambunctiousness. It took about... 20 years to function properly
When you turn the volume wheel, you mention it' smooth, but it looks wobbly, was it like this out of the box ? Thx.
its means that u cant turn the wheel too easily, and even if you do make a large turn, the volume wont go up too much and BLOW YOUR EARS. You need to turn the wheel a lot to get the highest volume
But can you save settings to the device like the Recon3D USB? Not sure if this is an upgrade as Creative said 7.1 is PC only.
i bought this dac for playing FPS games and listen music on youtube...i turn off all effect but dont use "direct mode" cause i want to use my mic from this soundcard. my headsets is senh gsp 600
what settings i need to use in windows? 16bit\44000khz? now i stay with 24\44000...so...any ideas?
if you turn off all effects, will the audio output be just normal 2.0 stereo? Cause i want to use them on my stereo headphones
Should I get this or the g5? And also what is the difference between them.
G5 cheap only has 24 bit sound but most site never stream higher then 24 bits.
I'm gonna pair this up with my PC37x, should I keep the gain on Low or High? Thanks!
At 50 ohms, I'd honestly play with both. I like the sound on my 599's on high but turning the volume down.
@@SomeGadgetGuy Thanks for the input! Loved the video, really helped me a lot before purchasing.
now does this work with the DT 990 and if so how bc those headphones have 6.35 mm adapter and 3.5mm so it’s either to big or to small?
Hi. Does is it sound better than the Dragonfly red DAC?
Can you theoretically connect this to a tv or bluray player? And will the settings you set on your pc carry over things like 7.1 surround?
Mine cant even be detected by any system i put it (3 different pc and 1 xbox ... ) I have done a lot of research , done many "solutions" none worked....
If anyone know how to fix it pls help me !

JuanBagnell or anyone else will the g6 work with a usb dongle in the usb port for wireless headphones, i have sennheiser 670 wireless headphones but i want to make them louder and better in general
can this amp drive well the Sennheiser HD 660S ? i hope is a better amp compared to the other amp installed on the internal audio cards
It’s punchy. I don’t think it would have any issues with gain.
You can turn off all the filters and just use it as a USB amp that what i do if i pickk up dt 990s or hd600 or 650
I use with the magni 3 as the amp and I use the G6 dac and 7.1 features with my Beyerdinamic 990dt and Sennheiser 6xx
Which one do you like more for gaming, dt 990 or 6xx? And is the G6 fine as amp too?
have it broken? I read some reviews, they said creatives products break easily. I'm using DT990 Premium 250 ohm right now. But i don't know which AMP/DAC should i buy? I have 150-160$ budget.
Buy better Ifi Zen Dac, ore Fiio k5 pro.
@@andriuskirklys2487 this comment has posted 1 year ago mate. I already have bought Sound Blaster G6 and i think its good. Just heating a bit and i don't know why.
Well that and Spider-Man... and God of War...
@SomeOldFatDude Man you should switch over to PC gaming. If you switch over you will never look back at lame consoles again.
@@kuhhnt Can I plug normal headphones and original ps4 ear piece to this?Like both? So I get game audio to the headphones and chat to the ps4 ear piece.... is it possible?
B Sho I’m not that narrow minded. I game on PC, PS4 and Xbox. Because I’m not some PCMR idiot. Nor am I a console fanboy.
Does that box plug into a USB port on my pc? Or a micro usb
Does the astro a40 work with this or its going to be a problems since Astro a40 is headset with mic?
Hello, I have a sound card G1 and headset hyperx cloud alpha... Upgrade on G6 ? yes or no? ... will there be a big difference in sound? .. THX :)
Will the sound on Xbox optical be similar to the USB for PlayStation?!
I think the sound will be scientifically higher quality from the USB, but I'd be surprised if many would be able to hear that kind of difference.
Understood, sir! last question Mr. Juan if you view this? Will the scout mode work on Xbox One X?!
Were u using the Vmoda boom pro?, if so, does this little unit amplifies the mic input?
Anyone know how to get your mic to work on Xbox One X with the G6. Says mic not found
Were you able to get this to work with general sound on the Xbox One thinking about buying one but have mixed reviews
chicken joe74 To get your headset to work on Xbox and party with the G6. You need to connect you G6 sound blaster to a PC or laptop and connect through party chat through the Xbox app. You can download the Xbox app on your pc or laptop. Connect the usb portion of your G6 into the Pc or laptop and have the optical audio cable running from your Xbox to your soundblaster G6. If you experience any issues just try and improvise. Extension cables with headsets may prevent the mic from working, you’ll need a split cable connecting to headset and mic aux in. Headset should be able to get audio from in game and party chat through the Xbox app. You won’t be able to talk in game chat only through party. Give it a try, if it doesn’t work I won’t be able to help you. Just try and improvise
Can you connect studio monitors to this DAC?

QUESTION!! : Can I use Sennheiser gsp 600 head set with the sound blaster G6?????
Bazsic I use my HD 6XX with the G5 and it’s good enough to drive them :) I hope this helps
I’m looking for the same answer
Turns out yes. The GSP 600 has 28 ohms and this thing works as low as 1 ohm to 600 ohms
@@TheMightyZuko well the HD 6XX are a 300 ohm impedance headphone and are just as difficult to drive.
I have mine set to high gain mode and I can get to about 14-16 is pretty dang loud for me. Again this is very low on the volume range of this device and it helps fill out the base even more on my HD 6XX.
