Congrats on your 1000 subs, a great milestone, here’s to the next... Thank you for doing this video as I was thinking about getting one of these for my new OO layout starting soon.
Hi, I know I’m a long way behind the game here, but just received my 121 and a Hattons chip which apparently is the same as the DCC Concepts black as you had. Same thing no carriage lights. I did manage to find a Dapol chip so time will tell. Encouraging to see yours working.
Hi John, yes, the 121 was a puzzle with the DCC chips and I heard somewhere that Dapol's own chip was a successful result, hence buying one and putting together the video. I guess it makes sense the Dapol chips would have to work in their loco stock.
I don't know. I have several of GWR railcars and I am just about to get decoders for them. I'm still researching the difference between the decoders. PS I'm in Chch
I checked on the Dapol website re the 21pin Imperium decoder and it states '21MTC/NEM 660/MTX interface Standard' and compatible with NMRA and MOROP DCC standards.
For more information on the 21 pin decoders go to www.sbs4dcc.com/tutorialstipstricks/21mtcconnector.html or sites.google.com/site/markgurries/home/decoders/decoder-plugs-sockets/21-pin-plug-issues There are some decoders that support both NMRA and NEM standards ncedcc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003093913-D16MTC-with-NMRA-21-pin-MTC-NEM651-plug
Great video - I have the current version of the Bachmann Class 20 ( D8015) which I plan to chip complete with sound - any recommendations on the chip ?
I can't say I'm an expert on sound chips but I imagine an ESU or Zimo would be you're best bet for sound chipping the new Bachmann Class 20. There is a much cheaper Soundtraxx decoder (Econami UK Diesel) which has 6 UK diesel locos loaded on the chip including a Class 20. They're okay but not as good as ESU or Zimo decoders.
That's interesting, so Dapol have come up with very well detailed model (in my opinion) but left out some fundamental components like destination and code transfers, and as Peter pointed out in his comment, a detailed cab with lighting but no drivers.
Yeh but if you watch Cottesmore Junction revue on his arriva version his has destination transfers same with the NSE version revued by Richard on Everard Junction his came with destination transfers. Ron @Willenhall Parkway.
Hi there, was just wondering if you tried 'all' the F functions buttons not just F3 just in case it came under an aux F number. Nice loco my bug bear with Dapol is they have cab lighting but don't fit drivers. This looks to have a very detailed cab, so what do you think, is it possible to fit a driver. I did managed to do so on Dapols class 68 which suffered the same as this one. Anyway good thing is its sorted now. All the best Peter
You're absolutely right, it does need a driver, and I will be adding one at some point. The cab is nicely detailed but not sure as yet how to gain access to the cab area. I went through all the function numbers with no success, it could have been to do with differing decoder standards as Edmund mentioned in his comment.
I just had a look at instruction sheet and it describes 5 or 6 function 21 mtc decoder F3 carriage lights and non mtc carriage lights operate at reduced brightness. No control possible! (Check out DCCwiki) cheers Alan

My problem is not with the lighting, its lack of power. The unit runs so slowly. How can I speed it up please.
Fantastic on your 1000 plus subs.
Great you got your lighting sorted
great model, fantastically lit and with passengers! Greetings Tomek
There are two versions of 21 pin MTC decoder standard - one based on NMRA and the other on NEM
Thanks for the info, I did not know this. Do you know which one is which? Does Dapol use the NMRA or NEM standard?
I don't know. I have several of GWR railcars and I am just about to get decoders for them. I'm still researching the difference between the decoders.
PS I'm in Chch
The data sheet says the GWR railcar uses an NMRA 21 pin decoder

I have the green 122 with wiskers and mine did not come with destination transfers. Ron @Willenhall Parkway.

Oh, so did you and I get incomplete models or do the BR greens not come with transfers?
I think you don`t get transfers with your greens I find that strange not part of your 5 a day ha superb model I agree. Ron @Willenhall Parkway.
