    I studied geography and received a brief introduction to logic while in Uni, and I believe it really helps understand how math works on an elementary level with formality.

    ..Note that for a sentence to be a statement it is not necessary that we actually know whether it is true or false, but it must clearly be the case that it is one or the other. For instance, let us consider the statement: "There's life on some other planets in our galaxy".
    This is a statement, even though it is not confirmed whether there's life beyond the earth. Its truth value is unknown. However, this statement, like every other statement, has exactly one truth value: either true or false, but not both. Therefore, it is a statement.

    What occurs if you reject the principle of non-contradiction though? Because you still have some kind of logic, just a different perspective.

    • @brightsideofmaths
      @brightsideofmaths  Рік тому +1

      Of course, you could work with a different logic system. However, here I show the common choice for mathematics.

    I will show that numbers are built from images
    Example , 4 always represents 4 images, like 4 squares for instance.
    To be specific numbers are "labels" for groups of images
    1. The main idea here is that maths is built from images
    (a) example , geometry is clearly made of images
    b) example 2, We claim numbers are built from images too, as say 4 , always represents 4 images, like 4 squares for instance.
    C) imaginary numbers are connected to images too , which is why they have applications in physics
    D) In general any mathematical symbol that comes to mind is connected to images too.
