Major Repair EF Johnson Ranger Ham band VFO linkage switch a simple solution

Problem: Stripped out cam linkage. Some one in the past jammed in the incorrect thread setscrews, then coated with lock tight thinking that was a fix. Nope, so I have to come behind and incorporate a new solution. Evaluating the problem, it appeared that the band switch would have to be removed. That would be a major undertaking. I was already upside down $$ vrs the repair, so I came up with a time & money saving fix. Cut the band switch shaft. Slide off the damaged part. Slide on the new one, Install a dual setscrew coupler. Lube & adjust. Good as new! Tested the operation several times. Works as it should.

Great info Terry! Probably could re-tap them holes if you want, and use a bigger set screw for next time you need one.
