As Brit and a massive fan of Paul Weller, I have to say you absolutely aced this number. Fancy that, an American showing us Brits how to play Weller songs :) Seriously though, a great cover and not an easy song to sing and play. I have three kids, all grown up now and they used to harass me when I was playing the guitar, the same way yours do. They're not this age forever; we have to make the most of it while it lasts. I admire your patience with them; great kids and a credit to you and your wife. A great video, very much enjoyed the singing and playing. All the best to you and your family.
Dear Niel, thank you for your exceptionally kind note and compliment. There is often a fair amount of negativity out there in the ether, and it is so refreshing to see thoughtful and positive encouragement like yours. Here's to Paul, and to Niel. Two true gentlemen.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm not really sure what I'm doing with my right hand...I think it's sort of a Bossa Nova thing. Try playing the bass with your thumb, followed by a simultaneous three finger pluck with your index, middle and ring finger. After the pluck, let you hand fall naturally on the strings on the beat. That will get you the percussive part. I think that's what I was doing. Thanks again!
@@jamesstephenlee Thank you for the nice response and the good explanation. This way of playing guitar also challenged me to practice in front of my grandchildren. Mutual patience was put to the test. Very educational. And now they really want to decorate my guitars. win win :-)
Really good. I've just bought the cycling jersey from the video...... Is your house cold? Heavy jacket and a cap indoors, surely no need! Thanks from France.
Ha, good point. As I recall, I had just come in from the yard, and decided to record this thing off the cuff. I guess I should have dressed more appropriately
best tutorial out there, but its hard to see what frets you're playing and I don't know the names of chords like that :( is there any chance you have tabs of this?
Hi Mark, thanks for the heads up and constructive criticism. Maybe you can put the correct chords here so people can learn it correctly. That would be awesome. Cheers, JSL
Harrison had a great backbeat going there with the ball bouncing 🤣😂
Hey James I shall be posting more accurate chords soon God bless ya all
Many thanks, Mark!

The third chord is an E Major 7th, Weller uses it in a lot of different songs. Thanks for the lesson, well done!
