I would let it gas out. Sometimes a day or week. Just be patient..

After polishing, I guess you don't put a clear coat on. So what's the pros and cons doing your method vs. putting on a clear coat paint?

Clear coat is what you are supposed to polish and wax so no, you don't apply clear coat after polishing or wax

Ya this would be easier than isopropyl alcohol to strip and redo.
