Oil soaked rags are perfectly safe from combustion as long as you DO NOT leave them balled up. Spread out the rag/paper towel and drape it over the edge of your trash can until the oil dries, doing so will basically eliminate the chance of the rag spontaneously combusting. Also keep the rag away from open flames or intense heat.

Cool. I just bought a wooden palette that has been frustrating to use - for the very reasons you mentioned. Thanks for the video!

For the new wave palette? Do you suggest continuing to rub oil on the service even after painting it with the grey-brown paint and alkyd and the paint dries?

Thank you for the great video! I'm treating my palette using the old fashioned linseed oil method like you did with your first one. What kind of paint did you use when you toned the surface first, oil paint?

Just use RUSTOLEUM spray colour__ 2 coats dry in less than an hour and pick your colour. You can also use it instead of gesso

I am wanting to get a new wave wooden palette and also stain it to a neutral brown. Did you just rub the paint in and let it dry or paint a whole coat to layer over top? Sorry, I'm new to dealing with wood and oils.
    Thanks so much Kate :)

I keep a empty paint can($5 or less at hardware store) half full of water for tossing oil soaked rags, keep lid sealed.

I am dismayed that Ms. stone has never replied to any of the questions asked here.

SoraChiiy You can get linseed oil at an art supply shop, in the painting section. But any oil can work. Linseed just dries the quickest.
