From a Liverpool fan fair play to Plymouth, the played really good and had a plan and it worked - can't say many teams can flex that this season against us😂 but we played strong players so no excuse of a lower quality side, just Plymouth played the game well. This is the magic of the FA cup, little teams don't get scared and put in a shift and who knows..

The way our b/c team played they can stay that way. They played like garbage. No reason we should be losing to this team. Saddens me. Had a QUAD up for grabs. Though unlikely pisses me off to see our youngers play with no heart.

I don’t think it was a case of Slot underestimating lower league opposition, I just think it was a case of needs must in terms of managing the squad across so many fixtures. As a Liverpool fan I’m disappointed about the result but optimistic about what we still have the chance to achieve, credit to Plymouth for taking their opportunity when they did

@@poolfansI disagree, there’s no need to even compete in the competition. Not that they shouldn’t have tried but the team he put on should be able to beat Plymouth and if they don’t it’s fine because it means less risk of the rest of the season. Everton is so important gaining another 3 points in the league is vital and won’t be easy

Honestly I just couldn't get interested in the game so I didn't watch it. I was kinda happy that we're out of the competition. After losing against Newcastle Arteta took the Arsenal squad off to Dubai for a holiday. Meanwhile we're playing every midweek, weekend so I'm happy we're out. We're going to Wembley anyway & we didn't need those extra games. Last season's everything kinda went downhill after the FA cup game with the mancs so I genuinely believe it's for the best & I'm thinking Slot isn't that upset either.

We had 7-8 proper internationals on the pitch - Kelleher, Endo, Gomez (sub’d), Tsimikas, Elliot (Under 21’s), Quansah (Under 21’s) Jota, Chiesa, Diaz….and then Nunez. None of them turned up except Endo, Kelleher and Nunez.
The rest were outfought, outthought and outplayed. They were nothing short of disgraceful in their attitude and commitment.
Plymouth thoroughly deserved their victory, well done to them.

Seriously... I'm not being a smart arse, our front 3 are internationals. But how does a midfield of Elliot, Nyoni, McConnell unlock tight defences. He was not going to risk players with the fixtures we have. Forwards rely chances created by midfield,

Firstly well done to Plymouth. Won the duels, took their chance and wanted it far more. Secondly, it saves the legs of the first team as we reach the back end of the season and the priority has to be PL and CL. EFL cup is a bonus but still a final and no team likes to lose those.

Do people realise that Birmingham also didn't field their best 11 and were hamstrung by injuries to first team players themselves? All this talk about Blues being physical and 'thugish' - it was one of our players who ended up in hospital and with a season ending injury, Iwata was flung into a camera which was broken by the impact. It was physical from both sides and nothing wrong at all. I loved it!

    • @lukew2100

The whole thing started getting more physical after iwata was chucked into a camera as well blues didn't just come out from the start kicking people like I've seen a few saying online who probably watched half the game on the TV. We just reacted to the first one and then basically said we are gonna take it to you and show you what we're made of which apparently was a little sterner stuff than them.

Typical of Birmingham of the 70's which today players are not use to & are used to VAR so have to be a bit more careful
But couple seasons ago Newcastle done similar might not have been as physical
The injury was a 50/50 ball the young kid tried to get the ball no malice in it hope he is ok not heard anything about it
But did enjoy the game although wish it had flowed a bit more would have been nice if you had goal line technology have seen several views of the 1st Newcastle goal also it showed in slow motion frame by frame took a few times but think it was over the line just ( I know league 1 don't need to use it but if anything this is a good case to have it then no controversy )

When you compare the squad costs/squad value of those that played...Liverpool really messed up. Even a second string is worth many times what Plymouth's team is.
Slot and his team should be ashamed. We had to lose out on FA Cup Replays, only for Liverpool to still not take it seriously and rightly get knocked out.

The F.A. Cup starts in January and the price for winning is £2 million pounds. Liverpool are already in a good lead in the league which if won could generate £100 million pounds. Champions league they have already made at least £83.8 million with potentially another £50 million to come if they were to win it.
The Carabao cup is all but done except the final in March, you start earlier in the season and finish earlier. but still only get £100k for winning!
Take nothing away from Plymouth they fought hard and defended well and deserved the win. They play the next league game trying to stay up and Liverpool play theirs to go 9 points clear at the top of the Premier League should they win. Its priorities, the FA Cup is another 4 games Liverpool don't have to play and get potential injury's and tire out players for what could be a lucrative gain as well as attract top players.
Again, well done Plymouth, i do hope they have a good cup run and get some form off the back of this.

The European Super League fiasco, the attempted bribery to double their own votes so they could have more say than other PL clubs, the cancellation of replays etc. It’s all so the established elite can continue to remain there without any new challenges and keep their own revenue rolling in.

Re: Plymouth v Liverpool, the normally insightful Messrs Lineker & Richards did not mention in their analysis that while Slot *did* select a mostly non-first-team line up, he *had* relied on two seniors to add experience and quality both of whom didn't end up playing; Gomez [injured & off after 10minutes] and Jones who decided not to play at the 11th hour. Jota & Diaz *were* 1st teamers but had no service all game due [in large part] to no midfield [Jones]

Gray has had a really rough time at CB. Not saying it’s his fault, hes young and being played out of position - but let’s not pretend he’s been excellent over the past month or so!
