Update: per Lindsay Adler - the Yankees and Gardner may work out a salary for him to come back at a lower price than his option. Rip the bandaid off!

Man I was hoping the gardy party was over tbh he's a great defensive option but he has a weak arm and honestly most of his tenure was off the bench he used to only pinch run he's taking up a roster spot 😠 I would rather odor than him tbh

Before I saw this video, I already said that Gardner would come back for less. He is a hanger on and is ruining the team, but blame his buddy Cashman, for they seem to be inseparable. They put winning second. It's a buddy buddy thing and it's almost like mafia.

    • @julioluisveve905

If Gardner returns, they will not bring Greg Allen, who is a much better player than him. That would tell the story. Winning won't matter. I hope that I am wrong and that Gardner goes far away.

He’s at the end of his career but can still add value. I can see Gardner coming back at a reasonable price. For the past few years he was slated as the left fielder, then the 4th or 5th outfielder only to end up playing more games than the oft injured regular left and centerfielders. He does not hit as well as once did, he still runs better than most of the team, is still a decent outfielder, and has been durable.

The Yankees need some scrappy no nonsense defense first players and also Big Papi stated facts that the current Yankees roster lacks great team chemistry which is evident when pitchers don't like to pitch to Sanchez.

    • @jordansoviet23
      @jordansoviet23 3 роки тому

@@richardallen2687 there's pitcher catcher chemistry issues there somewhat because they know Sanchez can cost them either more pitches thrown, passed balls leading to opposing team's base runner to score, also Sanchez is below average in pitch framing.

I have always like Gardner. He takes pitchers deep into the count by fouling off pitches, and plays a very good center field, and runs the bases well. He always hustles.. He doesn't hit for a very high average anymore, but he is a very good utility player, and can play all three outfield positions. He really is not an everyday player anymore, but in his defense, it was not intended that he be the regular center-fielder in 2021. Hicks was supposed to be the regular guy, and Gardner was supposed to be a utility player, which is the best role for him.

I see this being kinda like the same situation as when they tried to retire Bernie Williams or when they cut Johnny Damon. Especially like Johnny Damon. If Brett goes to Cleveland or Anaheim or hey, San Diego or anyone else that could use that kind of player which is half the league and he plays well which I suspect he will then everyone is going to be crying that Cashman didn't keep him. I know he's not Stanton or judge but he checks other boxes to round out a team and that's what they need is more of a 3d team that can do more than strike out and hit a few homers.

Probably the most overrated over-praised Yankee in recent memory.
"Gardy" owns a decidedly mediocre slashline of .256/.342/.398/.740 to go along with 119K's on average per year.
His mediocre arm and ordinary defense are of a piece with the entirety of his oeurve.
Speed was supposed to be a big part of his game. He stole 49 bases 10 years ago for a career high.
I can't think of anything he did that's memorable for 14 years.
He's a true Yankee? What, he genuflected at the Holy Shrine of Joe Dimaggio and drank the pinstriped Kool-Aid?
He should have been gone three years ago.

Was surly womanizing drunkard Mickey Mantle, who I idolized as a kid growing up 8 miles from Yankee Stadium a True Yankee? Was wife-abusing Joe D. a TY? It's time we grew up.
BG played the "right way" what does that even mean? He hustled? That's what he's supposed to do for millions of dollars per year. That's not extra.
