I'm not sure how well common western humour translates into Japanese, after all these days insincerety/post-irony and jokes generally go hand-in-hand. Subaru seemed to see the funny side of it though, I just hope she knows how much we all really appreciate her. The duck motif thing is funny, of course, but in reality we all know she's a cute, funny, down-to-earth tomboy who can speak plainly to her viewers in a relaxed manner. It almost feels like a talk amongst friends, rather than an idol and her fans, and that's really refreshing. I hope she sees this vid, and thanks VTengoku for putting that message at the end, on behalf of all of us. :)
I think they get amused and find the funny part in a "what is this playful nonsense" way, but they dont understand the irony and sarcasm very well coz even their fun and jokes are still disciplined and measured. While we laugh at chaos, they laugh in a organized manner, so jokes dont translate well

Subaru and Korone streams and clips fill me with so much joy and happiness its wild. Those two really have such bright and fun personalities that its so hard not to smile and laugh when watching them. Subaru is honestly one of my favorite v-tubers who is not only cute and interesting and fun to watch but is just able to bring a smile to my face when she is just doing simple stuff even if its talking to the viewers. She is #1 duck but she is also #1 idol

There's two things with her reaction:
1. From what I've heard, japanese people don't quite get sarcasm.
2. It said plot twist at the beginning of the comment, how are non english speakers going to understand this without spending a lot of time learning it, let alone translating with google translate.

Often with westerners, there's always a question of motive for streamers and entertainers. "They're just doing it for attention or fame or wealth" and what not. It's very suffocating. Subaru seems like one of those people you never have to wonder about. She seems to just genuinely have fun and enjoys the people around her. A person innately born to charm millions with an earnest and clear nature. Definitely an idol, in many senses.

Honestly for vtubers in general I like the more "raw" feeling you get from them.
