I wonder the efficacy of peppers treating alcoholism though. I know capsaicin interacts with endorphins, but alcohol works on the GABA a receptor, which I completely different. You would think it would be a lot safer and more sustainable for him to get on like chlordiazepoxide. Alcohol withdrawal can be very dangerous. No matter how addictive you are to heroin, you’re not gonna die from withdrawals unless you’re old or sick with some life-threatening illness. But with alcohol, the withdrawal can kill a perfectly healthy 20 year old. There could be some mechanism that helped prevent that, or he was on some medication assisted treatment, like benzodiazepines or chlordiazepoxide, and peppers just helped.
I actually grow these! Smokin' Ed's Carolina Reapers are so much fun to grow. They grow taller than my other pepper plants, grow a ton of peppers, and don't die. My plant lasted an entire winter, with an average of 20° F here.

For those who are interested, the reason it is actually plausible that eating chillis relieved this man's alcohol cravings, is because the brain responds to pain signals by releasing endorphins. That's why those accustomed to the heat find it pleasurable, and chilis themselves can be addictive for some people. Beware though, the Carolina Reaper is so hot, very few have tried one raw without deeply regretting it moments later. 😂

This is the spiciest pepper in the world "casually eats it like in a chicken nugget"
You can build up a tolerance to spiciness. There’s a hot sauce I used in college that I can’t eat anymore unless I build my tolerance back up.
@@neuffatator you cant have a tolerance to pepper X. Its like 2.7 million scoville units. Even he struggles eating it. This isnt some shop hot sauce lol.
